He should have the fans on side anyway, it's no benefit to the players at all with the fans getting restless and not getting behind them.

Scored 2 absolute worldies against Palace when Pearson returned yet people still complained about Pearson playing his favourites etc etc.

No it isn't a benefit at all, but if the players don't show no effort or desire and don't get stuck in (which is all we ask for), then there is a chance it's going to happen, like at any club.

Yes, he did score two good goals against Crystal Palace, but did nothing again for the next 5-10 games. He is too inconsistent and lightweight, and the move has highlighted that the 'Pearson favourites' thing is rubbish, I never believed it anyway. At the end of the day, there is a reason why Blackburn got rid of Gallagher and why he joined the likes of Stoke and Plymouth for loan moves.

Might stop people from spouting the old 'Pearson only plays his favourites' rubbish.

Or maybe he has brought in some new favourites to play, instead of his old ones. ;)

Spot on.

Gallagher is a decent Championship player for me, but not any better.

Has a lot of pros and cons as a player, and in recent games he has played the cons have shone through.

But do doubt at Sheff Utd he will take corners with real pace, win every header and actually tackle at least one person per game. Would be typical.

Location's hardly a huge issue surely, Sheffield's not exactly far from here and if he had a house in Leicester then surely it'd make sense to travel from there to Sheffield rather than from Blackburn. I'm also astonished he's 28, didn't realise he was pretty much at his peak.

Sounds absolutely nailed on to me that it's down to fall out with the fans, you can just tell from what gets said.

Move is for the best but sadly, the boo boys won, although I don't think Gallagher's up to much, you just know it'll happen again in future, horrendous precedent.

I wish him luck because I've always liked his character, but I think his time here is will and truly up.

The fact he thinks he should be starting games here gives it away doesn't it?, NP isn't starting him because he isn't good enough, his opinion that he thinks he should be in the team isn't warranted by poor performances time and time again over the past 2 seasons.

Don't players realize they have to work to get into the team?

He doesn't think he should be starting games, he wants to be, but isn't.

I have a funny feeling his new contract may have played a part in this, I can't help but feel under Sven we've offered over 11 players deals with promise first team football, yet with Pearson as the boss now, also doing the same thing, there's will over 11 players who think they're entitled to first team football and it's always going to cause rifts.

Disapointed!

Gally is a quality player in the Championship, actually able to take on and beat a player, capable of incisive passing. Whenever we moved the ball out of defence he was always giving an option and making space for himself and others with decent runs.

He never appeared "scared" to tackle when i saw him, he just played the role of a holding player, making the opponent stop and change direction or forcing him to go backwards, defending isnt just about throwing your body recklessly at the other player when theyve got the ball.

Hes not a natural header of the ball and needs to work on that, but he also isnt a centre half, so once a game he waits down instead of challenging...meh.

His deadball work was above average for the championship and i know whenever he was lining up a free kick i always felt we had a chance. His corners werent perfect, but they also werent as bad as others here are suggesting...and lets be honest, if hes that bad, then the manager should have ensured someone else was taking them.

His penalties were a delight, and the occasional speculative blinder also made him good to watch.

I think he's been a good servant of the club and deserves some respect, but then ive stood there while our fans boo him before he's on the park, so i dont expect a great deal of support.

Thanks Gally, good luck

It's not as if he's left for good. A technically very gifted player and he can offer us something in the champ, if he wants to.

After all the shit he's had from the fans and how much of a scapegoat he's been made (warranted very little IMO) I wouldn't blame him if he stuck two fingers up to us.

Good luck to him whatever he does. Whilst he's still a Leicester player I hope he has a good spell at Sheff Utd.

I've always thought he was good for morale in the team as well. I would certainly keep him as another option in the squad.

Cannot begrudge him the opportunity of first team football mind.

Unfortunately Stevenage don't play Sheff Yoo until November and even then it's away so I doubt I'll get to see him.

I don't know what people are going to do when there are only players at the club who Pearson has brought in. Will there be subsets of Pearson's favourites?

I'm very surprised Gallagher did not look to move in the summer...... :dunno:

The personal abuse, both verbal and electronic, that he has suffered from the scum who supposedly support this club has been disgraceful. The fact that it continued through what was a truly awful time for him and his family is, to me, beyond belief...... :(

I have always been aware the 'football supporters', as a group, contain rather more than their fair share of pond life but it is sad to see it demonstrated in such a graphic manner.

Whole heartedly agree with you, it is about time Gallagher moved on for footballing reasons too.....

But it's shameful the way he was treated, utter disgrace these so called 'fans'

Don't you think if he was a quality player in the Championship, a better/higher club would have gone for him? He couldn't make it at Blackburn, at the time they weren't exactly a massive Premier League club with a quality squad, and spent time on loan at other clubs. His only consistent time at a club was here, but he couldn't deliver consistent performances.

I'm not saying he was scared to tackle, but he never got stuck in enough for me, which probably resulted in fans turning on him. All we ask for from players is effort, hardwork and loyalty (getting stuck in) but he didn't show this. Basically, a luxary player who is alright when we are playing at home against a CrystaI Palace, or a Barnsley, (etc, no disrespect), but take most of the time with him it's like playing with 10 men, especially at tough places like Millwall.

His deadball was alright, but not fantastic. Yes penalties were good, his corners often poor, and his free kicks alright. Thankfully he didn't get in the team because of his above-average set pieces, and we now have Marshall, a player that is better than Gallagher and will show the effort.

Why does the Mercury insist on publishing this crap.

http://www.thisislei...tail/story.html

"Paul Gallagher has denied any rift with manager Nigel Pearson after completing his loan move to Sheffield United.

The Leicester City midfielder has joined the League One side for an initial one-month loan spell."

Are we really at a point where if a player is loaned out or sold, that must mean there has been an "incident" or a fall out?! It's so overblown its crazy. Did anybody not think that naturally his time at City is up and Gally finding a new team is best for him? We all know footballers want to play, so why must there be stupid, guess-work reports like this? Absolute madness.

True.. But they are reporters and they've got to do their job , even if the story isn't true, and they never seem to be true in any newspaper anyway most of the time.

How many newspapers "make up/print unsupported crap"? Every newspaper.

It's not right, I agree, but it's what they have always done and will always do. If you don't like it, don't buy them. I use Google for International news, and lcfc's offical website for lcfc news, because it is official and has support.

Couldn't agree more.

Though I've said it before, the match against Millwall away last season, which effectively finished a very poor season for the club, encapsulated all that was poor about Gally and the midfield at the time. Now I think it's better.

Spot fox92, and col talking sense as usual, not at all disappointed Gallagher has gone, and hopefully in jan Wellens will depart too, and as long as the players show some desire, commitment, and effort, there will be no need to be booing anybody, all we ask as fans is to show a little desire for the massively over inflated wages these players earn, not alot to ask in my opinion..............

Why? I still think he has an important role to play. Just because the boo-boys want to blame him for everything, doesn't mean he should leave. Having experienced players is just as important as having young exciting players.

Personally, Gally is a jekyll and hyde type player. It's quite astonishing how often he plays so well at home and in away matches is a complete liability. Technically gifted but highly frustrating.

SU OS

Danny Wilson is pleasantly surprised to have been able to recruit Paul Gallagher on a one-month loan deal from Leicester City.

Gallagher, who started his career with Blackburn Rovers, has spent the majority of his career in the Championship and is a fully capped Scotland international.

On the versatility the 28-year-old offers, the Blades boss commented: "Paul is flexible in his approach and subsequently he helps in a number of roles, through his versatility.

"At home we need people who can pick pockets and not be predictable and he offers us another option or two.

"He is hungry to play and I was impressed from the moment I spoke to him, you can tell by the way he spoke and his body language that he simply wants to play football.

"If we can channel all his enthusiasm in the right way he can have a big impact on us in the next month."

Wilson says United's fantastic support and the stature of the club helped convince the Glasgow born-forward that South Yorkshire was a suitable temporary home:

"Sheffield United has good pulling power because of the support we receive both home and away and when people see Bramall Lane it encourages them to move here

"The key reasons Paul will have chosen to come here is to play in front of big crowds and in a team that should do well.

"We have got some momentum from our start to the season and with Paul onboard we are confident of maintaining that in the weeks to come."
