Captain... Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 It's possible that'll I'll win the lottery on Saturday, and, incidently about as likely as Jermaine Beckford "thriving" at Leicester City. Well that depends on how many tickets you have bought and whether you classify winning a tenner as winning. We were all excited when of signed Beckford, he was a player who had demonstrated his ability countless times for Leeds and had been pursued by a number of premiership and championship clubs, he is not shit, but for one reason or another it has not worked out for him here, for every great performance, and there have been more than he gets credit for, there have been 2 crap performances, but that seemed to be the way of the whole side last season. For which Beckford and Danns and wellens and Gallagher have to take the bulk of the responsibility along with bamba, mills, Peltier and others that have now left the club. It is on surprise that those that remain from last season were the consistent performers. All I'm saying is don't write Beckford off, he will do it again at this level either for us or someone else.
seenitall Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 I think that this thread epitomises the problem with message boards. Essentially, once you have a view, you must stick to that, even if your position becomes untenable. I have found myself defending things on here that I no longer believe and this is what is happening here. Footballers, managers and teams in general can change in the blink of an eye to become either good or bad, despite perhaps having years of previous as the opposite. this often leave the haters and the blind faith followers on an island of denial and justification, defending terrible performances or nay saying great improvements because it doesn't fit their agenda and committed standpoint. Beckford is quite possibly going to hit a rich seam of form before he hangs his boots up much as Nugent or Knocky might hit a poor run - Nige has, by his own admission, under performed here until recently but is currently on good form - guess it is difficult to go with it - I see very few on here who can roll with punches.
jamesmilner Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 no matter ability , bad apples are bad apples . we got rid of a few quality players that are big time charlies and results have changed . imo . strange how we win 5 on the trot without them and then someone says its not relevant . whos stupid ?
Fox92 Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 Glad that he is staying, hopefully it will be full time. An average, inconsistent player. We have better players than him now, thankfully. Don't really care if he scores or sets up goals, he is playing at League One level. I never made him out to be a great player whenever he scored. Never really rated him. Scored against Palace, did nothing for 7 games, scored again, did nothing for 7 games. Doesn't try and not good enough.
whoareyaaa Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 We seem to be managing fine without Gallagher and Wellens and I'm sure we could bring in two better players to fill these postions. I would loan them both and sell whenever possible. They have had a good spell here but I think we are moving in a new direction and these two players just don't cut it. Get rid.
ScouseFox Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 Paul Gallagher â€@Gally_7 Unfortunately my loan extension at Sheffield United has fallen through. Wishing the lads all the best.. #promotion
LCFC FOX Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 Probably need the back up here. Hope hes on form and does well in our team.
Captain... Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 no matter ability , bad apples are bad apples . we got rid of a few quality players that are big time charlies and results have changed . imo . strange how we win 5 on the trot without them and then someone says its not relevant . whos stupid ? Ok lets start with the fact that Beckford and Wellens were here for more of that run than not, even when they were here they were not playing in the case of Gallagher and Wellens and were in with the physio for the majority of that time. Team spirit has not been a problem at all the season, our main problems have been conceding soft goals and missing easy chances, but throughout this season we have had excellent team spirit in every game, battled to the end and given it our all, the exception was the Burton game, again that didn't feature Beckford or Wellens. They have not affected team spirit, they are not bad apples, Wellens and Gally were part of our most successful season in the last 10 years, when we had excellent team spirit. What is clear is that we are improving as a team and we are surpassing the limitations of players like Wellens and Gally, that is not to say they won't be needed at some point, but the idea that they were bringing down team morale and now they have gone we are suddenly unbeatable is ridiculous.
foxesfan1989 Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 Paul Gallagher â€@Gally_7 Unfortunately my loan extension at Sheffield United has fallen through. Wishing the lads all the best.. #promotion Bit surprised, do we need him? If Danns can't get on the bench, this guy wont!
Haydos Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 How many has he played for them? Anyone know how he's got on?
Corky Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 How many has he played for them? Anyone know how he's got on? I remember him scoring one and hearing about a couple of assists.
m00nie Posted 11 October 2012 Posted 11 October 2012 Paul Gallagher â€@Gally_7 Unfortunately my loan extension at Sheffield United has fallen through. Wishing the lads all the best.. #promotion wonder if thats due to our end or theres..
Jimmy Posted 12 October 2012 Posted 12 October 2012 wonder if thats due to our end or theres.. probably ours, now we're playing 4-2-3-1 more often he might be needed, at least from the bench
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 12 October 2012 Posted 12 October 2012 They tried to give Gallagher away but that proved fruitless (because of his high wages) so a loan was a start, with SheffU contributing a bit. Can't see him getting near our first team ever again unless illness/injuries kick in big time. And, to be fair, it wouldn't hugely bother me.
Ric Flair Posted 12 October 2012 Posted 12 October 2012 He might be able to sneak a place on the bench but not away from home, he'll be off again soon I suspect.
kingfox Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Gallagher is back today, after his seven appearances in Sheffield and his poxy one goal. Already started the banter on twitter with St Ledger. Doubt we will see him back on the bench though, but would be quite funny if he was and Danns still wasn't.
Fox92 Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 I wanted him to go full time, never mind on loan.
Leicesterpool Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Would be interesting to see him in the team again, i think Pearson should give Gally one final chance perhaps give him half an hour at birmingham
Fox92 Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Would be interesting to see him in the team again, i think Pearson should give Gally one final chance perhaps give him half an hour at birmingham Why? He has had many chances and done what? Nothing. If he deserves another chance then so does the rest of the squad, IMO. We are actually on a decent run now, no point in changing anything unless required.

We are actually on a decent run now, no point in changing anything unless required. He will leave in January I think far too hit and miss, had his chance in the League Cup and he was shit. I agree, the only chance I can see him getting is one of those 10 minute appearances like Waghorn, then doing bugger all.

kingfox Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Doesn't stop people wanting Danns involved though. Yep but those people are deluded. Drinkwater, King and James are doing a quality job. Danns and Gallagher don't deserve to be recalled.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 I wanted him to go full time, never mind on loan. Needed him back, really adds something.
