Blackburn fans vs Steve Kean

OK so last season when Blackburn were in a terrible position and playing poorly I could almost understand the whole 'Kean out' agenda even if it went a bit too far. Wanting to get a 'proper' manager in at the time was understandable.

Kean seemed to be a good and committed man in interviews so I assumed it was just his lack of success that caused the Blackburn fans to hate him.

But now they are top of the League having not lost a game so far and have just won again scoring 5 away from home. Kean has made a very good signing in Rhodes and mostly managed to keep their better players after relegation.

But judging by their forum they still hate him and want him out. In fact a few are unhappy about doing well because they think it'll give Kean more time! One of the threads floating around at the moment is what you'd love to throw at Kean if he was in the stocks!

Can anybody explain this to me, or are Blackburn fans just cvnts?

They think he stabbed Allardyce in the back, and he probably did. They went from midtable to relegation fodder pretty quickly after that.

I can understand why they don't like him, however they've let their hate for him cloud their judgement when it comes to supporting their team. They might have stayed up had they got behind them last season, and the negative atmosphere might well cost them later in the season.

At the end of the day, Kean won't get the sack if they're doing well, so they've got to decide what's more important - getting promoted or getting Kean out. If the latter is their choice they better hope they get another shot at going back up, otherwise they may regret the severity of their protests in years to come.

There's also some stuff about Kean's alleged ties to Glaswegian gangsters. Some Rovers fan I know sent me an article that claimed the Venky's are owners in name only and act as a front for some pretty dodgy people. It was basically suggesting that Kean struck a deal with these gangsters who he has known for years which stipulated that he would make the necessary introductions and effectively broker the deal that got their money into the club and in exchange he would be appointed manager. Fairly sensational stuff but would explain how a bloke lacking all the requisite qualifications and experience got the job in the first place and how he didn't get sacked towards the end of last season. Not saying I believe it but I think a lot of Rovers fans do. I'll try to find the article.

VENKYS loved the idea as they were keen to attack the European market and expand beyond India. The cost to VENKYS for taking part in the venture was half the purchase price of 43million. (This 20 million was set aside anyway for marketing costs in breaking into the European market so net coast to VENKYS being NIL) The remainder of the cost was met by ANDERSON and a number of others in his syndicate (including KEAN) The scheme was sold to all involve as being 'win win' as the purchase price was assured of being returned to all members of the syndicate by TV money and in worst case relegation parachute payment which totaled coincidentally approx 43 million)

Completely agree with the 2nd paragraph. It's beyond me and ironic that had the fans put as much effort supporting the team as they did directing hatred to Kean they would probably have stayed up

Went out last night, walked into the toilets of this nightclub and there were two Blackburn fans in the corner singing 'Kean Out', along with 'EIEIEIO'..

I think the treatment of Kean by Blackburn fans over the past year has been very poor, it got to a stage where I felt sorry for him. Even David Moyes said he went to Ewood Park on a scouting mission and left at half time because of the Blackburn fans.

He did spend a lot of money last season and only Yakubu paid off. Even Dann didn't show the signs that he was a solid Premier League defender like he did at Birmingham. But Blackburn are doing ok so far this season, as I expected. This time around Kean has thought deeper and brought some quality into the side; Etuthu, Murphy etc.

I find this whole gangster thing quite hard to believe, but something isn't right, Kean should have been sacked, any logical person with an interest in football could see that. Relegation was on the cards for a long time, the players were underperforming and the fans weren't turning up, of course not all of this is Kean's fault, but a new manager can often bring a bounce and turn around the players and galvanise the club and the fans, and after Jan it is about the only thing you can do to change things.

But maybe the club's new foreign owners are the understanding sort, and appreciate the need for stability, and don't think changing the manager is beneficial to the club, but I doubt that with the way they got rid of Big Sam, what was they said, they were embarrassed by the 7-1 defeat to united because they had got all their friends/business associates round to watch the game and they were shit.

That is utter nonsense and no way to run a club, since then Kean and Blackburn have been an embarrassment and they have done nothing about it.

Don't know if it is gangster related, or some dodgy business deals, or owners that realise they have made a mistake and are now just not interested, but their transfer activity this season suggests otherwise. I understand the fans frustration, but part of me is glad fan power hasn't driven the manager out, but the results were bad enough for that not to matter, and rewarding him with an improved contract is just bizarre.

It's not really about the performances on the pitch, it is about the way the club has been run, and the decisions that have been made for not footballing reasons.

There is no way Kean should still be in a job, since taking over he has taken them backwards in every possible way.
