Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 I'm sure that Whitbread can play better than he has so far for us. He seems to have all the abilities, just misfiring. He's been out for a long time and it may take time, or maybe he'll never be as good as he was again, but we'll never know from a handful of matches. And as has been pointed out - his tackle for the "penalty" was perfectly legit.
skinnydipper Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Wasn't a pen but Whitbread is a liability quite clearly. Seems to make stupid decisions at key times. SSL is desperately needed back. Agreed. Even after the penalty he had his hands in the back of one of their players in the penalty box.
kingfox Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Today I thought in the first half, it was Whitbread's best half of football in a Leicester shirt. However the second half, he looked a liability again, his heading is usually his best attribute but in the second half his headers were all over the place, and of course it wasn't a penalty but it was still him who gave it away...again.
Jaspa Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Not gonna completely bash a player who isnt obvs a knob But every game something negative comes of him and gets targeted as a weak link by other teams. Whatever the problem is I hope its dealt with/figured out sharpish, we cant flounder around like this for too much longer, our form has dipped and I saw today as a possible booster but more negativity around us in the media and in the KP :scratchhead: We didnt deserve to win today tho, we did not show the form of last months and clueless at times, a squad that works well but something is missing Oh yeah . . . . Whitbread . . . . Get Ledgend back
ADK Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Didn't deserve to win? Were we watching the same match
Jaspa Posted 10 November 2012 Posted 10 November 2012 Didn't deserve to win? Were we watching the same match Nothing stood out between us in the end, we may have been fxxxed over but we lacked that something to win us that game ... the better team ... at home ... against a derby rival
Tielemans63 Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 He'll have to improve. Had my first foray on Twitter (still not sure what the heck its all about) earlier and I noticed that SSL tweeted today saying "Injury will be weeks rather than days." Hopefully Whitbread can find his feet quickly although I think he'd have been on the bench had Keane not come off v Bolton so if MK can shake of his injury ZW might get the boot anyway.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Are we suggesting Nigel has signed a duffer?
Corky Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Are we suggesting Nigel has signed a duffer? He has signed them before. But I don't think Whitbread is one. His lack of pre-season may come back to hurt. St Ledger is needed back asap.
Nick Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Was on the phone to a mate at half time yesterday and said that ZW looked a liability and may well end up giving away a penalty - I also said Waghorn would score the winner. If only I was right the other half of the time.
Bluefoxtim Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Am I the only one thought he had a good game?
MattyFromLE Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Worth a goal a game to the opposition. Awful player, worst defender i've seen for several seasons. Worse than Mills? I see the foxestalk reactionaries faithful are out in force. Pathetic!
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Am I the only one thought he had a good game? He was great in the air, not great on the ground, should have tracked their midfield runner that pulled the ball back from the byline for their first.
Unabomber Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Am I the only one thought he had a good game? No I thought he had a good game, he was fantastic in the first half covering for Jeff and Lloyd (although should've done better for the first goal) and was comfortable in the second half until the harsh pen was given. I think his confidence took a blow then and he rushed in to a lot of his decisions from then on. I just think our fans bloody love having someone to moan/point fingers at etc. We should get behind him, because once he is confident and in form he will be one of the best cb's in the league.
seenitall Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 Worse than Mills? I see the foxestalk reactionaries faithful are out in force. Pathetic! He certainly hoofs like Mills but doesn't get the ball as far = worse
Lambert09 Posted 11 November 2012 Posted 11 November 2012 I really dont rate him. Its just mills in a wig
beemeroo Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 Whitbread seems to be improving week on week. I just wish he'd stop sleeping with the Ref's missus before games or whatever he's doing to upset them.
MattyFromLE Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 He certainly hoofs like Mills but doesn't get the ball as far = worse Don't be stupid. You're either deluded, or watching different matches to me mate. Whitbread is proven quality, Matt Mills is an overpaid, unproven, excuse for a defender. You're just looking for someone to blame for us not winning.

Certainly must be difficult getting down to the KP Stadium from France.
MattyFromLE Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 I'm not convinced he watches our matches at all. Certainly must be difficult getting down to the KP Stadium from France. If that's the case, then how can he make a fair assessment from watching one game on the telly, and possibly from Stringer and Youngy's commentary?
Bettsj2 Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 Am I the only one thought he had a good game? I honestly dont remember him doing anything wrong. He wasnt spectacular but certainly not as bad as some are making out. It is a bit of an issue with football fans in general that if a new signing has a couple of bad games to start with, he's shit until further notice. The difference between ZW's performance against Palace and the one against Forest were light years apart. If he improves at that rate then SSL wont get anywhere near the first team. Remember that he didnt have a pre-season. That means quite a bit so we should be cutting him some slack rather than writing him off.

accessory Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 No better than Mills or Bamba. He's cost us points already and may well do so again in the next few weeks.
