Aye, I remember him heading over to you guys as a wee'un, but I never really heard much about the loan and always sort of assumed he didn'T pull up any trees - he didn't really start getting noticed much at United until he joined Watford.

Never thought I'd say this... hurry back St Ledger.

St Ledger will be out for another couple of weeks looking forward to seeing some more calamitous errors from Whitbread please show us why we brought you here.

He didn't really make any 'calamitous errors' against Forest - he could probably have done better for the first goal, but the penalty was a joke decision - hardly his fault. If you can't make a challenge and win the ball in the box without the ref blowing up, then what's the point?

I don't think we've seen the best of him so far at all, but I think he'll go on to show how good he can be for the club. A lot of people forget that SSL had a pretty torrid time when he first joined the club, and playing next to Morgan who is more or less flawless in every single game will make any defensive errors from Whitbread seem far more glaring.

He's been average so far, but I think there's a lot more to come from him.

Whether it is him being nervous I don't know but for me I would stick Moore in CB and leave Whitbread on the bench and ease him back into the fold, because the rigors of championship football is a tough game and Whitbread atm doesn't seem to be coping well with the pressure imo, he was unlucky against F****t but any sort of tackle you do and when it is in the box is culpable to officials taking no for an answer unfortunately.

That was never a penalty IMO.

It was a bloody shame he ever made the challenge in the first place though..... He didn't need to... Sharp was not really going anywhere.

In this day of refs blowing up for 'going through the player', a savvy defender will learn to stand their ground, hold the player up and block any shots that come in. Whitbread, I'm afraid, played straight into the refs hands. It's not the first time I've seen him lunge like that.

Morgan is such a good defender because I think he's a clever defender in this respect. I think Whitbread is a bit more 'old fashioned' if you like, and therefore runs the risk of offending in the modern game.

Yeah I totally get what you're driving at, it's just annoying becuase it was a very good challenge. The onus should be on the ref to make the right decision, not the easy one and it's incredibly frustrating that we're actually getting punished for what was a great piece of footballing skill. If we have to temper ourselves because we have to kowtow to refs, then it's a shame for the game in my opinion. I agree that Whitbread could do with a bit more 'guile' like Morgan sometimes, but to have the confidence in your own ability to execute an inch perfect challenge in your own penalty area says to me that he's a technically good, confident and assured player - I don't think he's the bombscare that everyone seems to think he is. I'd definitely keep him in the team - I think he's had a steady start and he's been very unlucky with the sending off and the penalty. I expect him to improve quickly though, if he wants to keep his place.

On a separate note, I really think penalties need to be looked at by FIFA. I would much prefer a penalty to be given if a clear goal-scoring opportunity is denied, not when someone goes down on the edge of the box near the touchline. I would definitely not have said Vardy's penalty was a clear goalscoring opportunity for example.

Why? If you get fouled in the area its a penalty, simple as, always has and always will be.

If its a clear goalscoring opportunity the offender gets sent off so his team gets penalised doubly

This is spot on.

I thought Whitbread would flourish given a run in the side but he has failed to impress.

St Ledger is far more dependable.

He has scored some impressive goals against us, anything could've happened from that position.

Becuase if someone gets tripped over on the edge of the penalty area, on the byline, they're basically awarded what amounts to a goal for an attack that was going nowhere - Vardy's was a prime example. A free kick would be fairer in that case. It would also stop players looking for the penalty every single time they get into the box because they would know they'd only get one for an out-and-out goalscoring chance. Just my opinion, and it's probably flawed, but then the current system is not really working either - players are scared of making a legitimate challenge in the box and other players are always looking to cheat and exploit the stringent penalty rules to get a goal for their team, which obviously produces a lot of diving.

taliking of penalties with marshall and gallagher out of the side who would take our penalty for the season when it finally gets awarded?. I suspect knocky will grab the ball but i would rather someone else took it

I would've thought Nuge would get the nod. Maybe King?

I remember Nugent saying he's never taken a penalty in professional football hates them, I imagine it would be Knocky

I can imagine Knocky trying to do something a bit cocky.

We all remember the last Frenchman trying to be cocky when taking a penalty for us, don't we!

Waghorn took a few decent ones whilst on loan. He's so, so lacking in confidence if we got one next game I don't think I'd want him to take it, to be honest.

Probably be Knocky.

He has an hamstring injury according to Manchester Utd OS

http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2012/Nov/rio-ferdinand-discusses-michael-keane-loan-move.aspx?newsid=42E434DB-D083-4C62-B6C1-03EDAEAF521C

The England Under-19 defender joined the Foxes on loan last week, along with team-mate Jesse Lingard, but picked up a hamstring injury during his debut against Bolton.

After returning to Carrington for treatment, it's hoped that he could be available again soon to City boss Nigel Pearson.

"It would be a good loan move if he had not got injured!" admitted Ferdinand. "It would have been great for him. He is a great prospect. I have spoken highly of him for a couple of years now. He has a really big future. I am just disappointed he has had a setback with a little injury."
