Whatever happened to Toby Twirl and Pussy Cat Willum?

Still have books from the 50's and PCW figure up in the loft somewhere.

Haven't read the thread but I've got so much nostalgia in my brain! (I'm 26 to fit in with the below narrative!)

As a kid I was a huge collector of diecast cars and keys (yeah not sure why either) I had hundreds of keys. I had a car mat to play with the cars and I'd always have each car corresponding with an imaginary "teacher." Loved it. When we got burgled aged about six I was momentarily distraught because I thought they'd stolen my car mat. I was upstairs. The keys actually helped someone who'd locked themselves out of their car, he tried one of the car keys I had an it opened it. My dad nearly got a French kiss he was that happy, apparently.

School: Being a proper good boy, always abiding by the rules. I was in floods of tears when I got put in the naughty book aged 6 for play fighting. Being popular in year five before normal service resumed in year six. Saying goodbye to a friend who was moving schools at the end of year five, saying I'd see them in five years time and actually seeing them five years later. (blew my mind). Football at dinnertime on the field in summer, on the playground with a rubber ball. Scoring a cracker in one game, a tennis ball landing right in my eye after someone threw it over a school block.

Video games: Wiling away hour upon hour on the SNES (mine) or the Mega Drive (Sister's). Sonic 1 & 2, Ecco, Aladdin, Micro Machines 2, Mario All Stars & World, FIFA Football. Then I got a PS1 and ISS Pro, Porsche Challenge, Toca Touring, Driver 1 & 2, GTA (99% just driving around the maps), Premier Manager 98 & 2000, LMA Manager, FA Manager and later FIFA 2003 with the amazing soundtrack. Man those days were vintage.

Kids TV: Live & Kicking before going shopping with mum and dad, SMTV with Pokémon, Rugrats, The Queen's Nose, Zaap, Grange Hill, Short Changed, Newsround, Blue Peter, That chuckle brothers gameshow, Get Your Own Back, The Wild House, The Wild Thornberrys, Recess, Arthur, Wacky Races. BRUM! There are so many more :(

General TV: Adventures of Superman, Noels House Party, Winning Lines (not sure why I remember that so vividly), Big Break, coming back from the school disco in year six to find out who shot Phil! (and to watch Liverpool-Barcelona in the UEFA Cup semi-final) The Mole (channel 5), again there are loads, loads more that have probably been said in the thread. (EDIT: ROBOT WARS!), Simpsons (before it moved to C4) that was a perfect Friday evening after a fish and chip dinner. Watching WWF late at night on mute so my parents wouldn't tell me off. Always wanting The Rock to win.

Sport on TV: watching World Cup 98 with my dad and him letting me have some Fosters, 2002 WC at school in the library, our English teacher going crazy during the Brazil game, The warm summer of 2004 with England in Portugal; devastated when we lost to France, ecstatic when we beat Croatia. Watching Phil Neville cost us Euro 2000 against Romania. Going outside to play football at half time of the Germany-England match and being amazed watching Portugal lose it in ET against France.

Watching Channel 5's football night; chat and then Argentine, US, Dutch and UEFA Cup games to watch after taping the whole evening. Bliss. Also watching their Ice Hockey in the middle of the night cause that looked really cool. Watching MOTD late at night, biggest memory is Scholes volley v Bradford. Watching The Premiership at 7pm and annoying my dad cause I wanted my Heinz Baked Bean pizza.

Not realising the gravitas of the final FA Cup final and final ever game at the old Wembley. Thinking Michael Owen was the best player ever, and having a weird liking of Jari Litmanen as a player. Getting Leicester and Juventus shirts for my 10th birthday. Watching UCL finals and UEFA Cup finals. Recording my first aged 11 (Still have them on DVD!)  Thinking George Weah was the MAN after having a video on football skills feature him, and he was on my PS1 games. I was very excited when he went to Man City then he disappeared off the face of the Earth.

LCFC memories: That bright yellow away shirt for the 00/01 season (Le Coq Sportif one), horrible material. Being at my sister's guide ceremony when we beat Villa in the FA Cup in 00/01. Watching us play Red Star Belgrade on Channel 5, getting the hump when MON left and bringing all my dad's season reviews downstairs from my bedroom. Waking up for school to hear Taylor had been sacked, going mad when we scored the goals against Tranmere at my uncle's house (he had Sky, fancy!)

Listening to the 97 LC final replay with my dad on the radio and thinking for ages Heskey had scored. Watching season reviews so many times I can still recite the 96/97, 97/98 and 99/00 narration/commentary in large parts. Going to matches in 00/01 and 01/02 and losing nearly every one I attended, including Wycombe ffs. Being really pleased when Taylor was picked to manage England. Watching teletext on the old deadline day and feeling excited that we'd signed "Lee Marshall" for £600k. Not as excited as I was to see Mancini and Sturridge for just £350k...

Going home from matches and waiting outside the Liberty Shoe building for the bus, peering inside the basement broken windows to see the sorry state it was in.

Boy I got carried away  . tl;dr I have a lot of nostalgia.

10 out of 10 for effort mate ... Not actually read all of it as fell asleep during paragraph 3 but woke up just before the end.

"I'm just taking the catalogue upstairs so I can pick what shoes I want mam" Ahh, the simple pleasures of the pre internet days.

Kay's catalogue ... Tugtastic !

Kids today don't know they're born.

For variety, a turn to the swimwear section was a bonus in spring/summer!
