GLC Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 I was going through some youtube clips earlier and i came across some tv shows i used to watch as a kid, Animals of farthing wood Hero to Zero with Michael Owen Poddington Peas When did tv get so shit!? Anyone else remember getting up early to watch children's tv? what did you used to watch?
purpleronnie Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 There was a previous thread with 100's of videos. But I agree TV has gone downhill, maybe its because of the huge amount of channels that any old shit gets on TV. Childrens TV is by far the worst, if it aint some middle class american who wants to be a singer or dancer the chances of getting it on tv is small. Its strange to think there was more diversity in programming when there was 4 channels than there is now with 100's.

Rocket-Ron Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Sorry Nope this is sorry Forgot how good that tune was.
I am Rod Hull Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 http://youtu.be/GS0rQ6FQ4E4 I loved that show
Soar Fox Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Being 24 I don't watch much kids tv obviously. But when my young cousins come round there's hardly anything decent on these days. I used to watch program's like renford rejects, the hurricanes, art attack where they'd show you how to make stuff, kenan & Kel, grange hill, biker grove. Even Saturday morning's there's nothing on I used to watch Ant & Dec, although mainly because Cat Deeley was on it.
AoWW Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Used to love The Flumps. And Bagpuss... There was something very dodgy about Mr Ben... And then there's the Bod walk... Christ, it's no wonder I was scarred for life! Of course I only know all of these from repeats.

RonnieTodger Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 I had the Farthing Wood videos passed down! Most depressing children's program ever. Fair amount of them characters got killed

Soar Fox Posted 7 November 2012 Posted 7 November 2012 Everything you just posted was awful... Looking back now they are yes. But back then I thought they were alright.
Haydos Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Got to talk about The Animals Of Farthing Wood. That shit hurt, man. That was some really heavy stuff for a 6 year old. I know it sounds cliché but I don't think this generation or a lot of generations from now on are watching great shows like that.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 When I was really young, Dappledown Farm, Thomas the Tank Engine, Magic Roundabout, Postman Pat, Fireman Sam was all the rage. I used to like Goosebumps, Tom & Jerry, The Flintstones, Wacky Races, Captain Caveman, Top Cat, Scooby Do, Looney Tunes - proper cartoons!
pSinatra Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Jackanory was generally shit.......unless it's Roald Dahl read by Rik MayallInstead of saying something was boring, we would just call it "Jackanory"
leicsmac Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 A classic that hardly anyone remembers... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gseda0NpAF8 I dunno about you but to an 8-year old Zordrak was fvcking scary.
Raw Dykes Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 I don't think anyone will ever top the old Tom and Jerry, Tex Avery or Looney Tunes cartoons. I did like watching Knightmare, Byker Grove, any art program, Watt on Earth, Spatz and My Parents are Aliens, even though I wasn't a kid when that one started. I met the girl who plays Mel once in the street in London and I lost my shit. I hugged her! I couldn't stand Blue Peter. Never saw a full episode. Great theme tunes...
Darkon84 Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 I could spend all day filling this thread with random nonsense and childhood shows etc, but I'll restrict myself to a couple here. How no-one has posted the mighty Sharkey and George yet, is beyond me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FkI69t9eIY&feature=related Pigeon Street Freaky as shit, but still loved it...The Moomins
Orkneyfox Posted 8 November 2012 Posted 8 November 2012 Anyone else remember The Flashing Blade? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojJKWwghVcc
