Did somebody deliver it through the post? If so who and I'dont mean the post man but which organisation? I haven't had one in years. What about yellow pages and Thompsons directories? Do they deliver anymore or is it all online?

It was on the doorstep when i got  home.

I delivered them one year when I was made redundant. Bloody heavy they were back then, it'd be a much easier job to do them now!

Stranger than fiction...Nobody, not one..mentioned "The magic roundabout"

The best childrens program for adults.

My 1st tv programmes covered the 50s. So William Tell, Robin Hood, 77 sunset strip.Have gun will travel.

Christmas where, Annuals were treasured, with a single present, powercuts, real cold winters .

Two week summer holidays, when the Leicester factories shut for their fortnight.

Mystery bus tours, for a afternoon, day, or weekend. Snow, the duft of parrafin heaters.

Mother doing the weeks clothes washing in a gas copper.Winter baths in a zinc bath in the kitchen,

bathroom had no heating, big family hols and christmas created from home, not the shops.

Chicken a special roast. Chitterling and Roe. 1st trainset.

Walking to Bradgate park, with aunts and uncles, playing in pubs childrens-room with cousins,

when Bradgate was really in the 'country' . Listening to drama, comedies, and sport on the radio.

Talking to the local Bobby, being clipped by the local bobby.Playing 20 a-side football.

Scrumping, or asking for the ball back for the umpteenth time, playing innocently knock door run.

'feeling secure in life and with relations and strangers'

AT 6 yrs feeling no worry/fear from parents when you volunteer to go to the local shops.

Shopkeepers knowing the kids. Jusoda, Tizer, Vimto, dandylion and burdoch,

Crisps with a salt bag, a tanners worth of chips with scratchings. Bubble n squeak.

Bruccianos next to Lewises, for an ice cream soda.Cakes from greaslys

Building bonfires and guyfawkes over a couple of weeks. No xmas season until December.

A chipshop on every 2nd block, a pub on every corner..drunks yes, but no effin Azbos, my dads

generation didnt let them getaway with it, neighbours made sure they didnt take root, and yes

the local bobby did make a difference. The complete Leicester Market...

Oh ..employment !!!

Dont worry I am no grumpy old man, that was my nostalgia, my memories, the youth of today make their

own beds, good or bad, there were many good things from the past, but it wasnt all golden...

We've just had our new telephone directory. At one time they were A4 sized and 2 inches thick, now they're half as wide and no thicker than a paperback novel.

Yeah Jeff Capes used to tear them in half to show off.Now he could fart on it and rip it to shreds( I might pay for tickets to see this)

Easily done, funnily enough Ive been doing that for the last two weeks. Started with FireRed, beat the Elite lot and then found out I'd saved wrong and would have to start again. So now Ive got a fan edited ROM called ComplexCrystal and Ive nearly done that.

Would recommend Dark Energy too, I wont play owt past Gen.2

I never played silver, gold, red and blue because I was too young. Fire red and leaf green were my first Pokemon games and probably the franchise I've put the most combined hours into lol

If you feel up to it I'd recommend the older ones but thats probably mr being used to them, I just really cant get along with the design changes they made after Gen2 and switched off.

Am I right in saying theres a Pokemon that can evolve into either a Washing Machine or a Lawn Mower now? lol

If you come across any decent ROMs post 'um in here

Can vouch for visual boy advance.  Make sure you save regularly though because all emulators are prone to randomly crashing and nothing's worse than losing 45 minutes of solid grinding.  Also No$GBA is good.

Poor, I've been with the series since inception but I'll readily admit they improved in many ways as they altered the engine from generation to generation, the change in the definition of physical and special moves being the best thing they ever changed about Pokemon.  Plus until they re-released Gold & Silver it meant no longer being haunted by that fuching Miltank.

Last one I played was a black/white rom and that was pretty decent it's gotta be said.  Haven't tried any of the 3DS ones partly because I'm a grown adult now but mainly because I couldn't justify buying a 3DS just to play one kids game and nobody had successfully made an emulator for it back then, I've just googled it and it looks like one exists... brb   Edit: Nope no rom, just another survey scam.  Oh well.

Star Fleet!!! I just jumped back 30 years and realised the basis of my sexual deviancy is Commander O'Hara. I'm cured!

Plus I can see where Star Trek got BB-8 droid from.

My soul and subconscious mind are now in order and in your debt Separator.

PS: could I personal message you a picture of my thingy, it's got a strange rash.

yeah I think I can remember something about the lawn mower lol, I stopped playing at Diamond and Pearl largely because I was too old but I disliked the look of most of the Pokemon

Yeah technically it might of improved but I just couldnt get along with the newer designed pocket monsters, its  just not the same to me dammit. Add to that I grew up on Blue and Gold so I'm in my element with those Gens. I wouldnt mind a decent recommendation if youve got a decent ROM - as long as I can have Genger and the gang.

Militank never caused me an issue, ever. I either had Croconaw using bite by that point or something with sleep powder/leech seed to manage it. Also heard people complain of Brock in Blue/Red/Yellow lol Primeape and a Butterfree easily take care of that too

For DS they were all a bit hit and miss but I think DeSmuME was the better emulator that I used iirc, that or no$GBA, it was on a different computer which I no longer have so I can't check. Pretty sure though that whichever I stuck with I found that visual boy advance runs GBA games smoother than the DS emus.

Oh and visual boy iirc is the one that lets you 1.) freely change the screen size 2.) hold down space to massively fast forward the playing speed making levelling grinds and mundane exploring zoom by.  Really handy for Golden Sun with its penchant for drawn out conversation sequences. So yeah, definitely the one to use for GBA roms.

Oh and I've just noticed in your post you said you played Fire Red so you have been playing the gen 3 version games without realising it :D

Yeah thats the one Ive been using for years, I hit a brick wall when I didnt set the right savetype on FireRed but that the only problem Ive ever had with it and I shouldve looked into that type of thing before. The only other games I bothered with for it are one of the Zeldas and Metroid, at that age I was probably playing Crash Bandicoot and GranTurismo so GameBoy was Pokemon exclusive to me.

I'll keep looking for actual ROMs for FireRed probably, Cant wait for this though lol - http://www.dorkly.com/post/73172/4chan-is-making-two-very-different-pokemon-fan-games

lol  Gotta say I'm liking the sound of Sage too; all new 'pokemon' game with new critters, no mega evolutions, and no fairies, count me in!

Been looking at Gameboys on eBay as I can't get on with ROMs on laptops. Still waiting on any news regarding Pokemon Go! Releasing but I'm sceptical over whether it actually exists.

Man I loved Pokemon
