Dan Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Never done owt on the World Stage though...Like that Brazilian with the hair... He's in an extremely average international side, he'll never shine in a world cup. I'd say he was one of the top forwards at the Euros for what it's worth. Was he not joint top scorer even though they went out in the groups?
Kitchandro Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Yeh like others have said, he's brillianly talented but mentally he's not good enough too often. He's so up his own arse, I've seen him in some massive games where he's either just walked around expecting other players to do all the work, and others where he's been unbelievably selfish and tried to do everything himself (and failed). Amazing goal though, shows how good he can be.
marko Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Whilst it was great technique, he's got nothing on this finish!
ScouseFox Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 He's absolute quality when he wants to be and he's scored for more teams in the CL than anyone else ever, scored some of the best goals I've ever seen in my life and won so much it's not even believable. He's won 9 league titles with 5 different teams (including 8 years in a row!) He's been top scorer in Italy twice, 4 times winner of best foreign player in Italy, he's won 18 (18!) major trophies and has been in 2 Uefa team of the years. There's loads more shit to back up the fact that he's world class, too. It just annoys me quite a bit when stupid bellends like Andy Townsend go on ITV and say "yeah he's done all that in his career but against English clubs in the Champions League a few times he's not been that good, so really is he any good? I don't think so."
Dan Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 If you actually watch Ibrahimovic regularly you'll find he's extremely unselfish and he's nearly always looking for the pass. I can remember him fvcking one shot up before his goals but that wasn't a case of being selfish.
Corky Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 There's loads more shit to back up the fact that he's world class, too. It just annoys me quite a bit when stupid bellends like Andy Townsend go on ITV and say "yeah he's done all that in his career but against English clubs in the Champions League a few times he's not been that good, so really is he any good? I don't think so." Gets on my nerves too. Zlatan has proved himself around Europe, and has scored 38 goals in 85 games for his country, a superb record. Yet he didn't play well at Old Trafford once? Can't be that great.
David Guiza Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Absolutely agree ScouseFox, given a choice between Rooney and Ibrahimovic I'd go for Zlatan every time. So he doesn't look interested all the time, neither does Berbatov and neither did Cantona; suppose they're equally overrated?
Danno Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Brilliant player, why can't we get a player like that, instead we get Danny Fookin Welbeck.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 He's won 9 league titles with 5 different teams (including 8 years in a row!) He's been top scorer in Italy twice, 4 times winner of best foreign player in Italy, he's won 18 (18!) major trophies and has been in 2 Uefa team of the years. Whilst I agree with the fact he's quality - that 'title winner eight years in a row' stat is a little invalid considering Juve had two revoked for cheating...
StanSP Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 dont see what the big deal is, waghorn can do that with his eyes closed... Yep. That's called imagination.
Charl91 Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 I find it hard to believe that anyone would ever choose Rooney over Ibs. Even Man United fans.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Muzzy's was better. And I would say so for the following reasons: - trajectory/line of the ball both before and after connection - came from a team mate's cross - keeper was on his line I think Rooney's against Man City was actually better than that Ibrahimovic goal. That Rooney goal gets shown frequently. If Muzzy was playing in the Premiership for a top four side and he had scored that exact same goal it would still be shown and talked about today.
Charl91 Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 I think Rooney's against Man City was actually better than that Ibrahimovic goal. Really? Rooney hit it with his shin, he clearly miskicked it.
Haydos Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 If you actually watch Ibrahimovic regularly you'll find he's extremely unselfish and he's nearly always looking for the pass. I can remember him fvcking one shot up before his goals but that wasn't a case of being selfish. Didn't he get all 4 assists in a game last week or something?
Raj Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Really? Rooney hit it with his shin, he clearly miskicked it. Yeah whilst he just happened to be doing a overhead kick!!!
ScouseFox Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Didn't he get all 4 assists in a game last week or something? Aye, in the CL last week it was. He's got 18 goals and 7 assists in 18 games this season for club and country I think I read. Pretty good return on both counts I'd say. Watching him play for PSG some times this season has been so good, you can tell he's a class above most of that league.
Dan Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Didn't he get all 4 assists in a game last week or something? Indeed. PSG beat Zagreb 4-0 I think, seen he hadn't scored but watched the highlights and he actually set all 4 up, think he's got 12 in 14 for PSG too despite being more a creative forward, the bloke is an absolute sensation.
Brainy Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Really? Rooney hit it with his shin, he clearly miskicked it. typical English way to look at it
ozleicester Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Cracker.....So.. was that a quality "finish"... or a hopeful hoof?
Tevez Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Yeah don't get me wrong, it was a good goal. I think if he did that 99 other times it would of ended up in the crowd AND Joe Hart put it on a plate with no men around him. Rooneys against Man City was far far better and arguably Crouch's against Stoke (Note all the worldies were against Hart )
foxfanazer Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Outrageous goal but nowhere near the best I've ever seen. Had no goalkeeper to beat for a start
Charl91 Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Rooney's goal is one of the most over-rated goals ever. It's only because it was in a derby game (and by Rooney) that it gets such credit. Great goal, but not one of the best.
