Schlupp trial at Manchester United

If you watch the number of times Evra gets deep into the opposition penalty box, playing left-back at United would be like having licence to be a striker anyway. Ferguson loves genuinely attacking full-backs and does anyone seriously think Schlupp would complain?

I'm pretty sure Fergie would get annoyed if having been placed at left-back he spent the game playing off Van Persie.

Get the feeling reading Schlupp's twitter that something's happened today regarding this. Would be gutted to see him go. Natural replacement for Konchesky for me. And soon.

If a move in depends on Schlupp or bolger leaving then we're in trouble.

That depends if fergie is willing to part with another 15 million for a championship player!!!!!!!!

Maybe we are awaiting our potential warchest.

If Man U want to play him at left back, he'll play at left back for the rest of his career.

Probably better than that twat Evra.

What is the situation with regards to Schlupp's availability? Is he still on the trial or is he back at City available for us to play?

It's an 'arrangement' which seems rather vaguely worded, perhaps purposefully so.

They have, apparently, been playing him at LB - Although I can't confirm, I just read it somewhere

It's an unusual one for a player who has looked decent in many of the games he's played: To my mind he can fill in in three positions - LB, LW and CF. At LB we have Konchesky under-performing and no cover, at LW Marshall is nursing an injury and Dyer is out-of-form and at CF Wood has been injured and all three back-up strikers have fallen horribly short of late.

It might make sense if his going out on trial was a condition of Keane's loan extension, or if we had given long-term assurances to Man U that they have access to our best young players in return for our 'special relationship'. Could also explain their supposed interest in Moore earlier in the season.

Did anyone go leeds away ? He was awful and made thomas look like ronaldo. Was out his depth and gave a penalty away in the first 30 seconds. Didnt look like a left back that night.

He made mistakes (that people have forgotten) definitely looked to have potential in that position though, hence him being at Man U. Would have liked him here to get a run out in cup games.

Whether he goes there or not, it will have done the lad nothing but good.

Well for me he seemed a natural in the left back position, very similar to Ashley Cole, I'm surprised we have let him go there. Not saying he is as good as Cole but United certainly believe he has massive potential.

I'll post what I put in the Konchesky thread:

One point that I hadn't really considered until recently with regard to Schlupp is that he's at Manchester United not for their benefit (in terms of looking to sign him) but for our benefit. Manchester United don't need three weeks to make their mind up as to whether or not they'd like to sign someone yet he's still there and Pearson's very coy on the matter. As we know, Pearson thinks that Schlupp could be a left back but he hasn't come through the ranks in this position. Could it be that he's there for a second opinion? For some expert coaching by Manchester United academy staff?

As we know, we are building a close relationship with Manchester United and this could be part of it. We take your youngsters on loan (even ones like Lingard who we don't really want) and we give them some game time. The ones who can really make a difference we'll keep and it's mutually beneficial but the ones that we don't want we'll still give some opportunities as you're helping us out. The benefit for Manchester United is that they get a good look at someone who is meant to be one of our brightest prospects and they get first refusal on him should they want it.

I just don't understand why we'd be willing to let him stay there for three weeks and miss games for us (even is that's just being back-up to Konchesky on the bench) unless there's some real benefit for us.

Believed to be playing in a couple of their development games soon. Was going to he recalled if we beat Huddersfield.

Thinking back on over 50 years of watching Leicester City there's no-one who didn't make mistakes in a City shirt and some of the clangers among our present squad are up there with the best. Schlupp had one notable "bad un" against Leeds and hardly anyone seemed to give a shit that he disappeared from sight afterwards.

In some ways it was typical Leicester - except that some are far more equal than others when it comes to being forgiven. Look at Whitbread. He was central in personally cocking up and presiding over one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a Leicester side - the defeat by Burton - yet he was soon sharing defensive duties with Morgan in the heart of our first team defence and giving the ball away like it was one of the requirements.

Pearson bought Whitbread and Pearson is never wrong. See also Vardy, Jamie.

Thrac, I'm not having a go at him by saying he made mistakes. They were expected from the lad considering he was a striker converted to a left back and chucked in the deep end. All things considering he did well, but people DO put their blinkers on and make him out to be amazing and clearly better than Konchesky. I've been consistent in my praise for how he played at left back and that I thought he showed tremendous promise at left back.

As for Whitbread, I think that has more to do with only having one other fit CB in Morgan at the time.
