Schlupp trial at Manchester United

It's an U21 game and as he's on trial it's allowed. Just like if we had someone on trial they would be allowed to play for our reserves.

Yeah I know you can play trialists, just assumed to be classed as that and able to play without a contract you had to be a free agent, not contracted to another club.

Stringer says on the moan in. He can play 2 games. So expect him to stay another week i guess.

The thing with this is unless man utd are willing to part with cash for a player who cant play for them until the summer he has to come back at some point and what state will his head be in.

Don't think it matters whether the player is in contract, hence why Jeff is eligible to play. I'd imagine it's more common in pre-season to be fair.

The LFCTV commentators crying about the songs and the smoke bomb are making me laugh.

Hats off to them going to that effort for a reserve away game.

I can not really see him coming back here now to be honest for 2 reasons

- Man U might want to keep him?

- if they don't want him is he going to want to come back here to not even get on the bench waiting behind the likes of Waghorn and Vardy? Or be sent out to somewhere else on loan?

Personally I think he's better off else where than being here.We won't get much for him if he does go I wouldn't of thought

Well he's been awful first half, will be back with us in no time at this rate.

Really? I thought he done pretty well!

Missed some chances, goalkeeper also made some decent saves from him, but he was a real thorn in the Liverpool side all night, and as the Liverpool people were saying after the game, most of the good things Man United done involved Schlupp in some way, including the nice cushion header back that led to the goal.

Seemed very strange watching what is supposed to be one of our big prospects, suddenly playing for Man United, with the possibility of becoming one of their prospects instead, for probably not much money, and a chance of a few more United loanees while Pearson remains manager here, which if we are not promoted this season, will probably be just a few more months!

From Man United website:

U21s: Liverpool 0 United 1

Michele Fornasier's injury-time goal gave Manchester United a dramatic win over 10-man Liverpool in a keenly-contested Barclays Under-21 Premier League Elite Group derby in St Helens.

The Italian defender pounced from close range just as it seemed Warren Joyce's side would be denied victory in front of a healthy crowd at Langtree Park.

United, missing Ryan Tunnicliffe and Reece Brown following their loan moves to Barnsley and Ipswich Town respectively, had more than held their own against a strong Liverpool team featuring the likes of Raheem Sterling, Jonjo Shelvey and Andre Wisdom.

But the visitors almost failed to capitalise on the dismissal of Liverpool defender Stephen Sama early in the second period, spurning several presentable chances to score before Fornasier's late intervention.

Jeffery Schlupp impressed as a loan striker for United on the first competitive outing of his spell on trial from Leicester City, while the Reds also fielded Alex Büttner and Nick Powell, the latter back in central midfield after his recent stint up front.

Schlupp, who has won full international honours with Ghana, troubled Liverpool all night with his pace and could have scored several times in either half.

Inside two minutes, the 20-year-old slotted just wide after racing onto a through-ball and, soon after, saw his shot blocked by Liverpool goalkeeper Daniel Ward after being played through by Tom Lawrence.

United had started brightly and, 10 minutes before the break, Ward was again called into action to deny Schlupp after a surging run by Jesse Lingard.

Watched him tonight he looked dangerous all game and on a better day would have grabbed himself a couple of goals.

On MUTV they said they expect to see him in another game against West Ham.

Really don't want this to happen. Belittles our club if we let a big prospect leave without a fight. If they want him I want a good fee. And a sell on clause

I know we can't begrudge him taking his chance, but staying in his shoes and being pragmatic, what future does he see for himself at Man United? He must know he'll never be getting near the first team.

EDIT: As a Striker that is, LB could possibly be different.
