Babylon Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Disappointed by fans reaction, say Zaha goes on to score another 15/20 goals, and they get promoted and we don't, you'll change your minds then!! They are the rules, it's allowed. Like us getting wood on loan for a day and signing him permanently. If we get promoted by 3 points will you tell the league it's wrong because Wood should never have played on new years day?
Raw Dykes Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Disappointed by fans reaction, say Zaha goes on to score another 15/20 goals, and they get promoted and we don't, you'll change your minds then!! No. I won't change my mind if that happens. No-one's breaking any rules. No one club's got an unfair advantage. You want the rules changed, just to suit yourself. Palace just happened to have a highly valuable player on their books, but it could be us one day. Why can't you see this? Zaha was Palace's player. Palace agreed to sell him, and the buying club were happy to lend him back. What's the problem with this? Would you think it would be unfair if we sold Knockaert this transfer window, but borrowed him back until the end of the season? I certainly wouldn't, and I would think it would be a bit petty and small-minded if anyone complained. As Royston said, this is reminiscent of the Cardiff fans moaning about us borrowing Wood for a day before we could buy him. A bit pathetic, really. Stop whining.
Carl the Llama Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Disappointed by fans reaction, say Zaha goes on to score another 15/20 goals, and they get promoted and we don't, you'll change your minds then!! Man Utd can pay however much over the odds they want for a player, likewise I couldn't care less if they then loan him back to the selling club. For all the money that Palace will get as a result, they still need to have the right players available and I can't see them bringing in any league changing Bellamy-esque signings. If they do, fair play to them, we'll still finish above them!
Dan Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Disappointed by fans reaction, say Zaha goes on to score another 15/20 goals, and they get promoted and we don't, you'll change your minds then!! No, I'll applaud Palace on producing a player who's contributed a lot to a promotion season and assess where we went wrong in allowing a side managed by Holloway to perform better than us. Your thinking is very bizarre, I think there are a few problems with transfer rules but this certainly isn't one of them, it's well in the rules and it benefits both clubs. He's a Man Utd youngster anyway so Zaha will be ours in the next couple of years.
Jace Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 No wrong doing here, only reason we should be concerned is now Palace may get priority over us regarding future player negotiations with Man Utd but again that is completely legit
Father Ted Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Who gives a fvck about Zaha, we're Leicester boys and we've got Knockaert! Seriously though, £15m for that overrated piece of crap? Knockaert is worth way more then.
Jollie Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 The point is after may they have no wilfred zaha...this is the issue for palace...they might have £15 mil but as we saw ourselves you get totally ripped off for shit players once anyone knows you have money to spend.
Dan Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Who gives a fvck about Zaha, we're Leicester boys and we've got Knockaert! Seriously though, £15m for that overrated piece of crap? Knockaert is worth way more then. Baffles me some of the money that these players go for, £15mil is fvcking pathetic and it really is no wonder at all that the Prem is full of foreigners, could you imagine what you'd get if you spent the same on a Spanish or French young winger? In 99% of cases, a far better player.
iamafox Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 He'll be the next Conor Wickham, signs for a PL side from a Championship side for big money, then drastically fails.
leicesterisme Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 If he'd had a cap for the Ivory Coast instead of England he'd probably be going for 5 million. I'm glad he's going to Man Utd though hopefully they'll develop him without letting it all go to his head. Knockaert has had a better season, but I wonder how much he'd sell for? Watched a lot of Palace's games then?
Bayfox Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 We're not ones to be talking about bending rules and loop holes now are we. however I have to say it does seem a massive advantage that palace could now spend 8-10 million quid in the last week of the window and yet still have the player they made the money from. If hollow-head is clever about it, he could bring in 4 or 5 really decent players, but still has zaha as well. Great business from palace I guess, short term he remains with them, they have money in the bank and if he does turn out to be any good, a future income stream worth another 5million plus.
Captain... Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Was going to make the Wood comparison too, but got beaten too it. They need a replacement for Zaha, they could get any number of talented youngsters on loan from the PL, so what difference does it make. It suits both United and Palace and Zaha, his future is secured, but Palace don't have to panic buy in the last few days of the window, United have the player they want but he wouldn't have played much in the run in to this season and probably would have been loaned out anyway. Anyone complaining is a tit, if they finish above us we will only have ourselves to blame, second place is in our hands right now, and Zaha alone cannot make up the gap between the teams. Good luck to Zaha, probably the best place for him to nurture his talent.
Corky Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Don't have a problem with it, Palace can sign and sell who they want. Let's not turn into Cardiff fans about Chris Wood.
Manwell Pablo Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Disappointed by fans reaction, say Zaha goes on to score another 15/20 goals, and they get promoted and we don't, you'll change your minds then!! Makes no odds, they've not broken any rules. It's a good bit of business, sometimes you just have to accept these things. Don't think there is much danger of him scoring 15/20 goals either. Given how many he's got at the moment.
z-layrex Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 My Palace mates are saying most of Zaha's transfer fee will go into the club as they are leaking 4mil a year.
Hollism Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Embarresed for the OP, you're the only one who is outraged by this I'm afraid, and if Palace win promotion over us, that's how it will stay. Remember we're Leicester City! We are far more likely to turn on ourselves then congratulate others for their efforts. I was also reminded of the Cardiff/Wood thread. This is almost no different from a team agreeing to sign someone at the end of the season, in say, March. One thing I wonder though is could Man United recall the loan if they wanted to? If they won the league with a few games in hand, and wanted to give him some PL experience before heir summer training? That would surely be in their interests, but then Palace would be without him for some crucial final games, or even play-offs?
dmayne7 Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Its no different from agreeing to sign him in the summer or signing a pre-contract agreement with a player. Man U aren't going to be taking him into their squad until next season, its just a way for Palace to get some cash for him now and fuel their (ailing) promotion bid.
JoeyB Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 don't worry we'll have him on loan next season anyway.
dmayne7 Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Disappointed by fans reaction, say Zaha goes on to score another 15/20 goals, and they get promoted and we don't, you'll change your minds then!! But how will him moving make now make any difference to his ability? I could understand if you were unhappy that Palace were receiving the money up front and were then spending it on other players but with Zaha, they could have just agreed the transfer to go ahead in the summer and not lost him that way. Zaha is a real talent but there are better wingers in the league, namely Ince, Bolasie and Knocky.
Lambert09 Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Can they not just agree to sign him at the end of the season?
Dan Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 Can they not just agree to sign him at the end of the season? Yes, but it's pretty clear it's his form this year that's earned him the move. Embarresed for the OP, you're the only one who is outraged by this I'm afraid, and if Palace win promotion over us, that's how it will stay. Remember we're Leicester City! kingfox Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 What has this got to do with us? If Man Utd loan him back then fair enough, unless you are scared that Palace will pose a automatic promotion threat now, because they are getting him back.

Good question to be fair, in the wrong section. If Leicester finish below Crystal Palace then we've only ourselves to blame.
dpjfox Posted 24 January 2013 Posted 24 January 2013 we could sell Wellens to Hartlepool and loan him back in case of a midfield emergency
