Peterborough Post-Match Thread (2-1 away loss)

I think when fit we've the best starting eleven now, it the bench that will continue to lets us down. Futcas will never get a game for some reason, Vardy is struggling to find his feet and Waghorn only plays well when getting regular football. You know were in trouble when Pearson still got Dyer, Wellens and Gally on the bench all are not good enough.

King's role seems to have changed somewhat from when Pearson was last here though and I don't know why. He scored so many goals before

His role has not really changed, the difference now is that when we are playing well we have plenty of men in forward positions so the space is not so obvious for King to run into. Mostly it is occupied by Knockaert and Marshall coming in off their respective flanks, which is why James, who is more effective in central areas, is maybe a better choice....... :dunno:

His defensive play is pretty much as it has always been, outstanding in and around our box but lacking presence in the central third. One worry though, when he does get a chance in front of goal his clinical touch seems to have gone, hopefully only temporarily...... :fc:

I very rarely knock our performances, and i'm fully behind NP. But i have to agree with this post. We are a different team without Wood in the lineup. Vardy is one for the future and should go out on loan. Waghorn, i have no faith in, and would not mind if he left the club. I watch him in the warm ups, and he just cant keep the ball down. In fact he has a giggle if he hits the roof or it disappears out the ground. Watch him.

If Wood is long term, we need to get in the loan market and quick. Rant over.

When I heard Wood was out my confidence just went.

Vardy and Waghorn again show themselves to be not good enough.

Yes please!

Well I'm not sure if he is one for the future, he should be in his prime now, he is 26. His just not good enough, we took a chance and it hasn't worked out hence why Pearson got Wood.

Noticed the posh fans were booing Knockart towards the end of the game when he was going on one of his dribbles. Reckon its cos he is such a talented player and there scared of what he can do. Also thought we dived a couple of times at the end in a desperate bid to con the ref into giving us a penalty. Great atmosphere!!!

After all the panic, by way of thanks to brighton, we're STILL SECOND.

The league is the priority, but a good result in the cup against Huddersfield will see us right back on track.

As much as i despise Cardiff, I'll accept that they'd have to cock up massively not to win the league now, but we're still in pole position to get second. Best GD in the league is already proving to be valuable, and it's not going anywhere soon. When was the last time we lost by more than one goal?

Exactly right. I didn't go yesterday and couldn't hear it so I'm not going to comment on the performance but whatever it was like there are only two words to sum up; awful result.

From now to the end of the season it is all about results. 86 points might be enough for 2nd place but we will need to win away games to do that even if we win all our home matches which is unlikely. At the moment it is hard to see any points from away games at Forest, Derby, Cardiff, Crystal Palace or Brighton.

It was woeful. I have faith that Pearson will sort them out after that but that stunk of last season that did, took the lead and got too arrogant, complacency kicked in and we allowed them straight back into it and I knew we'd lose when that happened.

It happens to all of us but that's 3 points dropped and nothing but.

Well, that's the first of the 10 "easy" games we're supposedly going to win behind us - and we've come home with sod all.

And one of the big reasons is the continual and inexplicable reliance on Waghorn. i've never seen the guy as a striker for countless reasons that have already been explained and which were emphasised again today.

Waghorn had one golden chance to save our embarrassment nd flatter us with a draw. Dyer worked the chance with his pace and directness, delivered the perfect pull back and Waghorn in typical fashion ballooned the ball high over the bar from 8 yards or so, failing completely to even hit the target or test the keeper.

Meanwhile the technically more gifted Futacs wasted yet more energy with his seemingly season-long warming up exercises on the sidelines - a big, strong presence on just the kind of afternoon when we needed some height and strength.

Pearson has experienced the tight Peterborough ground on many occasions. It is never the best place for pitta-patta-passing. And more expecially with today's surface being wet, slippy, inclined to get cut up and when the home side weree closing us down faster than Woolworths shut their high street stores...and with as much steel as they used for the locks.

Today was a day for getting the ball forward into the penalty box and feeding off the consequences and Waghorn was never likely to help in that direction.

Posh deservedly won 2-1 today but they were also streets ahead of us on attitude too. What, one of my matchday friends wondered, was the factor that has left a seemingly skilled and competitive Posh languishing at the bottom of the league? And the answer to me seemed to be a vulnerable defence.

We didn't make lots of gilt-edged chances but it didn't seem especially difficult to get through or behind the Peterborough defence except that, once we went ahead, we didn't try any more until we'd gone behind.

It was the day Pearson's cautious negativity in certain circumstances came unstuck as many of us knew it would. So often he refuses to follow us getting a lead by pressing the opposition high and tight. Instead, all our ambition disappearred, we voluntarily retreated and invited Peterborough to do their best to break us down - which they did with relish.

And they achieved the breakthrough by having untracked runners attack the space behind defenders - not once but many times - until, eventually, the barrier broke.

Basically we allowed Peterborough to play to their strengths and, only in the last 10 minutes of the game - when chasing an equaliser - did we show what could have been had we done the pressing and shown the conviction to attack at pace from the flanks instead of crowding the space inside.

And quite why Futacs wasn't there to supplement that barrage I've no idea. Because Waghorn has shown next-to-nothing for weeks.

Totally agree ,,, we did not press enough or show enough desire and passion, esp in midfield, where we were quite weak at times, waghorn was again poor and out of his depth, thought posh played well in the second half and deserved to win the game, but this was in evidence in large part due to pearson's lack of a plan B and negative tactics.

As soon as I saw King and Vardy were starting, I knew we weren't going to come away from Pboro with all 3 points.

Vardy and Waggy just aren't good enough, the amount of chances they continually miss everytime they play is unreal.

Had a real result this weekend with other results going our way, in the coming weeks we won't be as fortunate.

I love these predictions.

So when Wood and James play yet we don't win they are the reason then?

That nice little flick by Andy King for Drinkwater to lay on the goal for Marshall one to remember for me

Boro's first goal very well taken but you always felt it was coming with the extra energy Boro seemed to have got that head of steam .

Waghorn will be kicking himself for days over that late chance but city just need to draw a line under that result and move on.

Dire performance but to say we're not good enough to go up is going too far. Think vardy is being made a bit of a scapegoat by some, one of our better players in my eyes yesterday but that isnt saying much. Morgan looked poor for once! Still had a great day, roll on blackpool away :)

Ok people, sound opinions..

So's mine.

As has been proven many times this season it's our AWAY form that could wreck our auto promotion chances.

Today is no exception.

It's the midfield..

We needed to tighten up there in Jan IMO.

It's February. lol

No winning 6 out of five is just not good enough!!!!

When we played at Filbo.. we used to regularly win 6 out of 5 .. i blame the Thais...oh and Walkers... oh and has anyone said... fvckin  wellens, yet?

Garbage.

We never do well at Peterborough.

Losing against the bottom side in the league is... pathetic.

We were harmless, toothless, bereft of any creativity.

Painful to listen to on FoxesPlayer.

Meh.

Wake-up call, anyone?

You must've seen a different Leicester side today.

Bar Morgan, all other nine field players were pretty much useless.

King... :nono:

Does foxes player show the games now?

Don't know if this has been mentioned but im watching the FLS, the commentator said 'Leicesters knack of conceding late goals came back to bite them again'

Yet foxblogger said that was our first time we've conceded in the last 10mins this season??
