Leicesterpool Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Blimey Reading aren't that bad, what did the reading board expect? I think Sven we'll end up there, possibly Nigel Adkins aswell.
ousefox Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Makes you wonder whether as a Championship manager of a club of their size, you're better off just coming top ten and not getting promoted every season, more likely to have a job!
Fox92 Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Funny game isn't it. He takes them from near enough bottom of the Championship, loses in the play off final against a quality Swansea team then finally wins the league... Now, sacked.
Matt Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Makes you wonder whether as a Championship manager of a club of their size, you're better off just coming top ten and not getting promoted every season, more likely to have a job! Are you? Despite being 5th, Pearson seems to be fighting for his job.
Tinman Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 33 days since he was named Premier League manager of the month
ousefox Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Are you? Despite being 5th, Pearson seems to be fighting for his job. Our situation is totally different, they had no serious expectations of promotion last season, just like Southampton. If they had both finished in the top half of the Championship and not been promoted, they would no doubt still have a job.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 It isn't that unexpected. Foreign owner, wants to expand a stadium that they don't even fill - seems a little over ambitious to me. I'm not saying it's justified but this chap clearly won't accept Championship football. As soon as clubs get promoted they have their hearts set on cementing a permanent place amongst the elite. There are a few exceptions who remain sensible but most do not.
Dan Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 And the manager sacking culture continues. Hope they go down.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Pearson to reading? possible Why go to a smaller club who are probably going down? Pearson is a sensible chap, that's certainly the impression I get, and I can't imagine he'll head over to Reading when Leicester City have more potential. Reading's owner won't be interested anyway.
Super_horns Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Clearly got somebody lined up. Will it be enough at this late stage of the season? Are they suggesting McDermott wasn't motivating the players potentially... All about the short term with owners now. Zola would be long gone if we weren't doing so well I suspect.
Tielemans63 Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Disgraceful decision. Think Jim White on SSN has missed the point a bit though "McDermott leaves with the Royals a massive 48 points off Man Utd at the top of the league". Don't think that's why he was sacked Jim-Lad.

You know Reading should be winning the league...

Haha what a muppet McDermott is, not being in the top 2 at this stage of the season, no wonder he was sacked.

Kitchandro Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Only in sport are you allowed to sack managers so unfairly.
leicesterisme Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 It's ridiculous it really is, what the fvck are they expecting to achieve. They quickly forgot that without him they wouldn't even be in the prem.
Yastafox Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 What the hell did reading expect from a newly promoted team?!? Obviously they were going to be battling relegation! And even if they do get relegated with McDermott you'd think they'd be going straight back up with him! Don't know who they think is gonna keep em up.
Jon the Hat Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Only in sport are you allowed to sack managers so unfairly. Actually that is not really true. Lots of companies can and do reach compromise agreements to terminate employment of people in senior or sensitive positions.
NewburyFox Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Poor decision, but they did look like they were going to get relegated, and the new manager still has the time to keep them up. I would've backed McDermott to take them straight back up though. Potential replacement for Pearson...?
Greatness_Since_1884 Posted 11 March 2013 Posted 11 March 2013 Quite shocking that out of the last 9 clubs to get promoted, only 2 have kept their job the following season (Holloway & Allardyce and theirs even doubts about the latters future).
