Poll - play off final

Watford v Palace

  1. 1. Watford have their 'fans' and Palace have Hollowhead. Which do you want to win?

    • As "neither" is not an answer, I'll want Palace to win. That way, next season, we can come up with a chant about Watford fans and how they invaded the pitch to celebrate staying in the Championship.

Firstly, the cap on domestic/foreign loans is blatantly wrong. Watford have been able to exploit this due to multiple ownership so no it is not an option to other clubs. If it was why haven't other clubs done? They can't, that's why. Their owners don't own several clubs.

Secondly, how can it possibly be considered fair that a group may own multiple foreign clubs but no multiple English clubs? Yet another failing of the rules I see. So you ask me can others do this - well yes they can, but it remains the case that to do so would distort the competition so that doesn't make it right.

Also, I'm not quite sure I understand that 3rd point in bold - are you suggesting to me that these loan players somehow made it harder to achieve success? If so then no, Watford are up there because of their loan players. If they didn't have them they would be lower than 3rd.

If Watford finished mid-table then no we probably wouldn't be having this discussion, but I care less if those who misbehave fail. It's when they succeed that I really must take issue. Bit like if someone steals a chocolate bar, no biggie, steal someone's car though and we have a bit of a problem on our hands.

PS - You are the first person to put forward a good argument supporting Watford, one that I've had to carefully consider my response to. So well done on that front.  ;)

Thank-you, we both have our opinion and I feel we are both right with various different points.

I can understand why you (And others) believe it is wrong and immoral however the options are there for other clubs to do, the rules are open to do this, our owners could go out and buy a foreign club and loan their players to Leicester, the option is there, so I don't see it as unfair or against the rules, it's not as if only Watford can do this.

I see what Watford have done as a harder job/more of an achievement because at the end of the day they are loan players with no ties to the club, they could have quite easily walked away at the end of the season to their parent club and not be bothered - I understand they are possibly playing for a future at Watford/in the Premiership/putting themselves 'in the shop window' but like I said they could quite easily just not be that bothered, not have any ties, not really have their heart fully in it for Watford. However you could argue that for many players, even players that sign permanently for clubs - We should know, we signed a few like that through the years.

I hope people take note of this discussion we're having seeing that it isn't turning into a slanging match, calling each other names, swearing at each other, it's called a discussion, opinions, I respect his, he respect mine (I think), we don't disagree with each other but we are discussing the subject in hand, not just arguing against each other like most people do when involved in a discussion on here.

While the option is there to do what Watford have done (not easy mind you) I don't think that makes it right. My frustration is perhaps more to do with they way the rules are written, my opinion is that this kind of behaviour should not be allowed. Unfortunately it is permitted so to an extent I agree with you that my complaints are limited as the club haven't actually broken any rules.

I'd also agree that Zola has done a very good job in putting a team together. But while what they've done is impressive it doesn't do anything to justify their actions for me. They've still behaved improperly IMO.

So to conclude, Watford not technically wrong but should be wrong. Rules need to be changed IMO.

And lastly I certainly agree with you on that last paragraph.  :)  I always appreciate it when I'm able to have an intelligent discussion with someone about a particular topic.

Hope Palace win on penalties so Watford know how we felt!

Disagree what people say about Palace, they may lose Zaha but they'll still have a good squad with some good young players. Add to that £15m+ to spend from the sale of Zaha and a play-off final appearance. They'll still be decent if they don't go up.

Disappointed not to see Bolasie come on, rate him.

Referee man of the match for me, not been fooled by Watford's dramatics.
