Corky Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 He is on 300,000 a week! Nice... There is a 50% tax rate over there, so it's probably going to be around £150k.
purpleronnie Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Yet he still wears a silly pink T and a baseball cap combo.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Big risk that. I hope he doesn't flop there.
ScouseFox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 It is a mental transfer fee like. Ronaldo had what, 3 or 4 sensational seasons and massively helped United win everything there is to win, captained his country at major tournaments and was debatably the best player in the world. Bale worth more than that at the same age? Nahhhh.
Corky Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I see Bale's gone down the Robbie Keane route of "boyhood dream" in his statement
foxfanazer Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Daniel Levy has played a blinder with this deal. Handled the whole thing superbly
Guest ttfn Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Classy stuff, Liverpool. Classy stuff. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2406618/Liverpool-issue-apology-clubs-official-Twitter-account-appeared-endorse-joke-Munich-disaster.html Hardly covered themselves in glory by not letting Hodgson in the Directors' box today either.
Finnegan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 If Ronaldo was seriously worth 80m then Bale should have gone for at least 160m.

Corky Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Hardly covered themselves in glory by not letting Hodgson in the Directors' box today either. They only let important football people in there, like James Corden.
Guest Bilo Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Hardly covered themselves in glory by not letting Hodgson in the Directors' box today either. Classless today. Not a good day for Liverpool's PR department, that's for sure.
Jimothy Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I know it's only twitter, but a lot of talk about Ozil jointing Arsenal.
iamafox Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 There will be enormous pressure for Bale to set the world alight for one of the biggest clubs in the world, hope he knows what he's got himself into.
Harry - LCFC Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Classy stuff, Liverpool. Classy stuff. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2406618/Liverpool-issue-apology-clubs-official-Twitter-account-appeared-endorse-joke-Munich-disaster.html What? Didn't even notice that when I first saw it. Just thought it was an amusingly bad taste in music they were endorsing and that this was to be laughed at. I don't blame them at all for this, it's such an easy mistake to make. People are just looking to hate IMO. Still don't see how those songs can be said to have a clear and obvious link to the Munich disaster, yeah there's a vague connection but I don't think it's blatant at all.
Finnegan Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 I'm not sure why people think Bale will feel pressure going to Madrid. At Spurs and for Wales he's a one man team, he's expected to do it all himself. Theoretically, he should now be going in to a side where he's got far more support around him and he doesn't need to win games alone. Surely, if he can overcome any anxiety about the price tag, from there on in it should be fine?
BoneDog Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Was pleased to see Arsenal win the NL derby today, and also to see The Mighty Reds beat The Red Devils. Glad I was out and missed the bookies though.

Seems more of a private person than lets say Ronaldo...
Haydos Posted 1 September 2013 Posted 1 September 2013 Usually the way in the big games though isn't it? Sky hype them up and they normally turn out to be bores. Give it a rest. The two games on today have always had that. I know it's a massive circle jerk but how do you bring Sky into that? Bandwagons are fun though I guess.
MikeyT Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Officially completed his move to Madrid. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11675/8901865/transfer-news-gareth-bale-has-completed-his-move-from-spurs-to-real-madrid
Carl the Llama Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I just have to give a quick mention to the most half-witted tweet to make the BBC sport page today so far: I don't know how this partnership between Spurs and Real exists. They badger us for our best player, then sell some of theirs to our rivals?! How much of a clown do you have to be to be so focused on potential maybe transfers to a rival team, that you completely fail to acknowledge that it's thanks to Real 'badgering' them with a world record transfer fee that they've been able to bring in 6 top-class players for over £100m this window? And fans of the big teams wonder why it's so hard for the rest of us to take them seriously... Utter buffoon.
Bert Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 If Ronaldo was seriously worth 80m then Bale should have gone for at least 160m. Pence? Ronaldo is better, and achieved much more too.
MikeyT Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 True? TheSPORTBible â€@TSBible13h Gareth Bale's wage breakdown at Madrid: Yearly: £15,600,000 Monthly: £1,200,000 Weekly: £300,000 Daily: £42,857 Hourly: £2,040 Minute: £34
