Guest shearfox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 And Eto'o. I did forget they had signed him...
ScouseFox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Or maybe he's just going back to West Brom. Anelka and Lukaku thooooo
Finnegan Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Arsenal signing Ozil is amazing and is a great signal of intent but it's a waste without a couple of tidy defensive signings and a striker in the same league. One phenomenal player doesn't make a team.
theessexfox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 If they get Demba Ba it will have been a very good day for them.

One phenomenal player doesn't make a team. Yeah just been having this conversation with a mate. He's a bloody sensational player but doesn't seem to me to be the one who'll convert them from 4th place challengers to title challengers. We'll see though.
Guest ttfn Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 First time in ages there's been a proper world class player come to the Premier League. Probably going back as far as the summer City signed Aguero and Toure, and I'd argue he's more established as a world beater than either of those two.

Poznan34 Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Just waiting on Fellani to sign now, possibly Mata to PSG aswell.

And that's ignoring last season's arrival of: Oscar, Hazard, Cazorla (&Giroud&Podolski?), Lloris(& Vertonghen?) and Benteke(?). Plus last year had the whole Michu surprise going for it. (?=debatable)

(?=debatable) None of them were properly world class when they arrived though, were they? I mean we're not talking really good here, we're talking proper, proper world class, like Ozil.

(?=debatable) This is a guy who is at the top of his game. Arguably we're going back as far as Veron in terms of bringing in an established world class player.

(?=debatable) Not having that, Ozil's in a different league to them and has consistently proved himself at the very top.

I mean we're not talking really good here, we're talking proper, proper world class, like Ozil. I'll accept that assessment for most of them, but I'm not having that Lloris wasn't established world class talent. Was absolutely gobsmacked when Spurs revealed that one. 3 time gk of the year in Ligue 1 and 1st choice for one of the best footballing nations in the world - doesn't get more established world class than that.
ScouseFox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 I keep seeing that Ozil has 72 assists in the past 5 seasons. But I just keep seeing people repeating that fact. Nobody has actually stopped and commented on quite how many assists that is. 72!! He's in a different league to most signings in the past 5 years or so, deffo.

Leaves me in a bit of a dilemma I can't see him being cheap on fantast football... I want him in, not sure if I should swap for Hazard
Jimothy Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 What are the odds on Ozil breaking his leg on international duty?
21st Century Fox Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Giroud reaching his Montpellier form and Ozil's assists could be absolutely lethal.
Leicesterpool Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Just waiting on Fellani to sign now, possibly Mata to PSG aswell. According to talksport Fellani is a done deal! £27.5 million
Corky Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 2326: Ben Smith, BBC SportMANCHESTER UNITED LATEST "Confirmation from Manchester United that three men who reportedly attempted to negotiate a deal to sign Athletic Bilboa midfielder Ander Herrera were not acting on behalf of the Premier League champions and were, for want of another word, imposters. "Reports in Spain claim three men dressed in black suits and claiming to be United "representatives" spent an hour at the La Liga offices attempting to negotiate a deal. The move collapsed at the 11th hour." lol
StanSP Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Coentrao to Man Utd on loan. Best business of the day I think is Ozil to Arsenal and then Lukaku to Everton.
RobHawk Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 West brom have spanked up to £6 million on Anichebe! WTF? and evert on replace him by getting Lukaku on loan! Good deal Martinez
Jordan Posted 2 September 2013 Posted 2 September 2013 Everton may not get the full £6m for Anichebe; West Brom have paid less that that up front but there may be incentive payouts. Even still, though, you're right that this was fantastic business by Martinez. Also, while James McCarthy is a bit of a downgrade from Marouane Fellaini, Everton got a damn good price from Man Utd and made about £15m from swapping those players! Well played, Roberto!

Neither France nor the French league are that great.
