Rewarding away fans

Recommended Posts

I just don't think the leicester fans who attend loads of away matches isn't rewarded, fair enough they get priority to tickets but for me that isn't much of a reward. I think the club should look to reward fans who attend 13+ away matches, like maybe discounts on next seasons season ticket, maybe even a free season ticket, a free shirt. I don't know, people's thoughts?

Getting priority to away matches isn't much of a reward? They are guaranteed a ticket for any away match no matter what the allocation is, especially as we've seen the controversy and struggles lower priority supporters have had recently.

I'm sure most P1's are more than happy with that.

Why? The club get absolutely no benefit from people attending away games.

Haven't they had free scarves, pies and pints given them. As a long term ST holder and occasional awayer I've never had anything like that, not even under the shitty st benefits scheme.

Mind you I'm not after anything either, its a football match not a kids party you're going to.

How about pass the parcel with a free st in it at least there'd be a reason for playing music.

I've recently read a thread on here where a particular poster said that he only goes to around 2/3 away games this season.

This poster then gets ''harassed'', by certain posters who say they nearly go to all away games.

Hence, I really don't agree with ''rewarding'' away fans; they only go to support LCFC (their own choice) - so the only reward they deserve is the LCFC players putting commitment and dedication in their performances..

i think it should just be first come first severed and that would really see how 'loyal' and 'dedicated' the P1's are.

I'm P2 and went 11 away games so please dont start saying you only want this for big games.

It certainly shouldn't be first come first "severed".

Take Bournemouth away for example. People who went 8+ away games P1+P2 last season would miss out on tickets because some people fancy the game to make it with a weekend away.

If adhered to the priority system is fine, and pretty much everyone agrees on that.

I don't really get the concept of having to be rewarded for supporting your team.

'Celtic reward fans for loyalty by dropping season ticket prices by £100' - how about they just drop season ticket prices by £100 because they know it's the right thing to do?

'We wanted to reward your loyalty and we think we have done so by keeping 95% of seats the same price.... except yours in SK1. Shame.'

For me, a correctly implemented priority system is enough to protect (not reward) those that go to 8/13+ games a season from the big-day-out folk.

A ticket at Forest and Watford was a perfectly good reward for me. I'm more than satisfied with that.

Does my attendance of 20 away games this season not demonstrate how committed I am? Why should I not get a ticket ahead of someone who's able to get down to the ticket office earlier than myself?

Ridiculous to suggest that one bout of effort by standing in a queue for a few hours should outweigh over 13 occasions that consume up far, far more time.

I think the club has the away system about right but I feel another priority day could help out when high demand, low tickets allocations are availiable.

i.e. I reckon it should be 15+ aways P1

10-14 P2

5-9 P3

0-4 P4

Members sale

General sale.

When you look around at some other clubs ours is quite fair, take Man City, their priority system dates back to when they entered the Etihad stadium 10 or so years ago, they get points per game, home and away and they can buy double points for an extra £50 a season.

Basically buying your way up the ladder, their highest priority now for aways starts at something like 8,000 points, when you get 10 points for a home and 20 for an away it would take forever to get up high enough to attend their big games, Wembley etc.

Not forgetting clubs like That have more season ticket holders than seats allocated for Wembley, another thing that must cheese fans off being a STH but not getting to a semi, final due to points total.

With ours if you do 13 weekend aways in a season, then next season you'll be gauranteed any away ticket, much fairer for some new away fan.

  • 2 months later...

Just got back from the ticket office where we were getting tickets for Boro and Wycombe and it appears the loyalty system has now changed.

Tickets this year will go on sale on different dates depending on how many away games you went to last season and how big the allocation is. For example if we got a 3,000 allocation at Derby the first day of sale might be for those who went to 12 or more games last season but if we got a 1,500 at Forest the first day of sale would be for those who went to 15 or more away games last season.

This obviously is fairer in rewarding those who have been to more games in giving them greater priority but surely the club cannot do this having advertised a priority system for the whole of last season that people had in consideration when chosing which games they went to?

Me and my dad go to quite a few away games and last season I made 13 and him 12. With the system that was advertised throughout the duration of last season a Tuesday night away game was worth 15 points and a Saturday 3pm one worth 10 with season ticket holders needing 130 points for top priority this season. We went to a couple of Tuesday night away games so even though my dad only went to 12 matches he still had over 130 points and was told at the end of the season that if we renewed we would both be priority one.

It's surely wrong of the club to implement this system now and I'm pretty pissed off that they're not honouring an agreement that they made by having that system in place. In my opinion the new system should come in next season after it's been advertised for a year this season. Anyone else envisage problems with this? And anyone know if they can actually do this?! (is it part of the T&Cs of sale if people are buying away tickets in line with a priority system?)

The shambles that is our ticket office continues. To think that someone actually gets paid a wage for managing that horror show is embarassing!

Freeman's wharfer, most fans knew the system had changed from last week when tickets first went on sale, it's also on the official site under away games.

I agree though that they should've given us a seasons notice that the system was changing but if you looked at the small print it probably says they can alter what they want when they want.

However blaming the staff in the ticket office isn't the right thing, it has come from a lot higher up than the powers that the ticket office have.

Overall I think it's a better system rewarding the more frequent away fans but we should've known about it.

If it stops P3's getting away tickets online on P1 day then for me it has worked.
