hackneyfox Posted 10 June 2013 Share Posted 10 June 2013 I had the pleasure of meeting up with some Cov fans on the last Numan tour and they were far from being chavs or scum. Lovely people and I'd rather have a few beers with them than some of our mob Off you pop then. Just because you met a few nice people from co* doesn't mean we should be letting them knacker the pitch for less than 400k a season. I met a nice tramp last week, I'm not going to let my spare room out to a group of them.

Lovely people and I'd rather have a few beers with them than some of our mob I agree, think we have more chavs at the king pong to be honest. Trouble with our fans is that we think we have a divine right to get promotion because we have spent big money. We don't, in fact we are not even a big club, I understand that and accept it. Churchill Posted 10 June 2013 Share Posted 10 June 2013 The most painful thing would be if we did ground share and we got them in the cup in an AWAY tie!
RonnieTodger Posted 10 June 2013 Share Posted 10 June 2013 I'd love to go in our own away end. Obviously not on my own, but I did for the Burton cup game, dunno why. It made me realise our fans aren't that bad, vocally.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 10 June 2013 Share Posted 10 June 2013 Went in the away end for the Palace game 09/10 season, a few years back. Gallagher scored both. Was horrible, Palace weren't ultras back then, stood at the top with my mate. Was weird when leicester scored, because I just stood there smiling. Tbh was quite shocked how good our vocal support is from the away end. Also sat in the away end for The Real friendly and the England game vs Serbia. Matt Posted 10 June 2013 Share Posted 10 June 2013 Surely common sense will apply here in the end and they will stay at the Richoh, What else is a football stadium in Coventry going to be used for? Rugby Concerts Casino, Hotel, Exhibition Halls (It has alot more options than we do to hold exhibitions), they had a gym there, I don't believe that is there anymore, but that's another option they could put back in to make more money - Add a running track round the pitch even. I know it's not as simple as this and no doubt it'd cost a fair bit but i'm sure there would be a way, put a roof on it and it would be a big competitor to the NEC/NIA. Add to those the fact it could hold other sporting events, such as some of the football during the olympics was held there, the Davis Cup (Tennis) was held there, as LCFC Fox has already said Rugby has been played there (Heineken Cup Semi-Finals), I don't think there has been any Athletics held there in the past but there is another option they could open up. At the end of the day the owners of the Ricoh Arena are not making anything from CCFC playing there, if anything they are losing money by CCFC playing there and not paying the bill so they aren't going to lose any more with CCFC not playing there so may aswell throw them out, add to this they can make more of the stadium making it free to open up more for concerts, exhibitions and other sporting events. yorkie1999 Posted 10 June 2013 Share Posted 10 June 2013 They could try and play football there. If they'd done that they might not have been in the sh*t.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 11 June 2013 Share Posted 11 June 2013 I'd love to go in our own away end. Did it for Millwall at home in 02/03... Millwall had been banned from all midlands grounds following a riot at Birmingham City the previous season, and I blagged a ticket for the away end via a mate's little brother's school. Lineker announced his consortium had bought the club, Steve Claridge scored the opening goal for Millwall, got to abuse Wise all game and then we came back to tank them 4-1. Good day all round. raba Posted 11 June 2013 Share Posted 11 June 2013 We shared with Wimbledon & Charlton. To this day the Charlton fans still hate that they had to share with us & our snake of a chairman Ron Noades royally ripped them off with extortionate rent. When he sold us he sold the club without the stadium & continued to rip us off with high rent payments. This was the start of our financial woes. Bit off topic, I apologise So, ermmm, **** Coventry. The Ricoh was sh*t and souless & 3/4 empty when we played there a few years back.

Jace Posted 11 June 2013 Share Posted 11 June 2013 Well that whole saga seemed very pointless to me why didn't the Ricoh just accept a reduced rental rate in the first place then?

In fairness that side of the ground seems half decent, think it would appear quite loud to away fans which I like.

ACL offered co* the Reeko for 40k a year, reduced from 1.2m. This offer is for 1 season only and nobody seems to know what happens after that.
