lol

Is that supposed to be a surrender flag?!

:Dlol

Thank god we've turned it round. Managed to bag a ticket for Monday so hoping it goes the distance with a successful finale like Trent Bridge.

I'll be amazed if this pitch doesnt see it going to Monday.

Your ticket was always going to be safe.

That was woeful from Bairstow by the way. Although he had a decent knock to be fair.

Absolutely criminal losing these wickets to Smith.

With all due respect, there is no way a Test batsmen should lose his wicket to a bowler like Smith.

Have to give Clarke his dues here, brilliant captaincy to keep Smith going.

Most would take the new ball after a breakthrough.

Apart from Bell, England's batting has been unacceptable so far in this series.  Especially so on this pitch which is a bastmans dream, against a bang average attack to boot, we should be looking at 400/450+ easily but will now be lucky to make 300.

It could to be very hard for England from here.

The Lord's Ashes curse for England again?

Jimmy copped some decent boos haha

Seriously is Broad worthy of a nightwatchmen?

Only if he nicks it and you have no reviews left.

Am a well known part timer when it comes to following cricket but have always liked Ian Bell. Has always put in a tidy whack when I've actually bothered to watch or listen and has always come across as an exceptionally likeable person. Probably my favourite British (see what I did there?) cricketer of the last decade, despite the theatrical plaudits the likes of KP and Flintoff have had.

Don't give the British credit for his ability and achievements; he's representing Wales at the minute.

He's a cracking bloke in person as well, had a conversation with him once and he was more interested in my interests than I was in him, his sister is funny as well, she looks like him in a long brown wig.

Give it a few years and I think I'll be able to get you to Cardiff, there's a fella in our group who hated the whole concept but came to the Ashes test last time and he absolutely loved it. Goes all the time now and laps up the attention.

Pedantic on one thing, It's not British, you get a few Scots who like cricket who travel away but it's England and Wales, we all qualify instantly. Scots and Irish have to qualify through County Cricket residency rules and swear allegience. :)

Given Compton was dropped after scoring two centuries in recent games, how long do you reckon they'll give Root?

Simon Jones was superb for us. Shame he picked up so many injuries.

I'll always remember his delivery to Clarke in the 2nd innings at Old Trafford in '05... full pint!

Amazing to think only Bell and Clarke are playing in this series who also played in that one. EDIT: Forgot KP!

If Jones had retained fitness I reckon he'd still be in and around the squad. Maybe even Trescothick if he hadn't had his issues. 37 and still batting ridiculously well.

You've caught me going in the wrong direction, really. I drift away from the sport more than to it. I did used to like it more than I actually let on now.

I'll stick my head in threads like this when the Ashes is on out of old habit but any hope of me following the sport regularly dwindled when the likes of Lara, Pigeon and Warnie faded and then retired from international cricket.

Even then I only really watched major international series'. County Cricket bores the shit out of me. I've seen a few games at Grace Road, even had training sessions and a tour there and got forced in to trials for the County by my school (along with two others) when I was about 11. We were no way near good enough, it was awful.

Last venture to GR was for the quarters of the last T20 series Leicestershire won and I can't even tell you who it was against or who played for Leicester, really. I'm pretty sure Darren Maddy, Vince Wells and Alan Mullally weren't playing anyway! I hear Nixon lasted til quite recently though! I met him once. He must have been playing for ever.

I like it, far more involved in the game than I thought. :)

I think they stick with Root now. Decision made. Be amazed if we see Compton in this series, do feel sorry for the boy.

He was, tremendous bowler, when he got the ball reversing back he was impossible to play at times.

Again another day of ups and downs, On that strip i would of taken that at the start of the day. All means fook all if our batters fail yet again.

Still can't believe that Smith managed to take 3 wickets lol
