Bert Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 No doubt about it. The noise when he swung - the bat wasn't near anything else but the ball and the guilty look behind to see if Prior had caught it.
leicsmac Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 Fantastic Test. Hopefully will be remembered for the action rather than the couple of controversies as it was a fascinating match that was on a knife-edge pretty much throughout.
Corky Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 Why was Atherton asking Clarke about the review system and it's reliability, when his side had benefitted twice from it, one more than England?
Matt Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 winning in the english sunshine. bliss. I know! Doesn't happen often does it?!
Corky Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 winning in the english sunshine. bliss. Winning the first Test of an Ashes series is another welcome change.
purpleronnie Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 I know! Doesn't happen often does it?! Oh ffs matt cheer up. We won the 2009 ashes in glorious sunshine at the oval....so yes it does.
Matt Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 Oh ffs matt cheer up. We won the 2009 ashes in glorious sunshine at the oval....so yes it does. Jesus my sarcasm is wasted on here (Granted it wasn't that funny, but surely people could see it was a tongue in cheek comment, especially as i've said i'm happy in previous posts to that one, but you believe what you want if it makes you happy, no skin of my nose).

Well, definitely no sunburnt skin.

marko Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 I've just been reading some of the Australian press and comments on the articles. It's fair to say to the grapes have gone a bit sour Down Under. The amount of comments that say Haddin didn't edge it are unbelievable - he clearly got a nick which showed on hotspot and a clear sound. Funnily enough very few acknowledge the wrong decision to not give Agar out stumped on 6, or Trott nearly knocking the cover off the ball but still being given out. Also, I wonder how many people who berated Broad for not walking are as upset with Mr Haddin.
Brainy Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 I see FoxSports Australia are saying they fell cruelly short after a controversial DRS referral.. http://www.foxsports.com.au/cricket/the-ashes/controversial-dismissal-spoils-dramatic-ending-to-first-test-as-technology-decides-brad-haddins-fate/story-e6frf3gl-1226679363284#.UeMhPm14kY8

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 Cracking test match, gutted we didn't take our chances. Bring on Thursday, same team except got to get rid of Cowan 2 very poor dismisals from him
ealingfox Posted 14 July 2013 Posted 14 July 2013 England win by 14 runs, the same number of runs Broad added to his score after the 'incident'.
Grewks Posted 15 July 2013 Posted 15 July 2013 England win by 14 runs, the same number of runs Broad added to his score after the 'incident'. Alternatively.... How many runs would Trott have made before being out?
Guest ttfn Posted 15 July 2013 Posted 15 July 2013 The comments section of the Sydney Morning Herald is hilarious.
Simmo86 Posted 15 July 2013 Posted 15 July 2013 The comments section of the Sydney Morning Herald is hilarious. Good spot http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/first-blood-england-claim-controversial-ashes-test-victory-20130714-2pykw.html
Swarles Barkley Posted 15 July 2013 Posted 15 July 2013 Alternatively.... How many runs would Trott have made before being out? Even more alternatively, how many days ago would the test match have finished if agar got stumped and the aussies would have 150 less runs
Manwell Pablo Posted 15 July 2013 Posted 15 July 2013 The comments section of the Sydney Morning Herald is hilarious. This is hardly a surprise is it, they're the worst losers in the world, mind you they're getting plenty of practice at it at the moment so hopefully they might improve.

Bobby Hundreds Posted 15 July 2013 Posted 15 July 2013 Stuart Broad is a genius. The Aussie supporters are foaming at the mouth.
