Cook's form slightly worrying

I thought this, althought the only real stand out and consistant one in the batting is Ian Bell.

Think both countries can have concerns in the batting especially in our early order, Australia obviously more so than us and ours is ok but could be better - If Australia weren't as poor as they are atm I feel we'd be struggling a little bit.

Trott gone for a duck.

22/2

Who said this was a good batting wicket?

Trott's shot was poor, wasn't either a defensive nor attacking shot

Seemed to be in two minds, reacted late, terrible really...

Funny how KP is regarded as our best batsmen yet Cook has a better average and more runs scored from less test matches.

Not that im slagging off KP, I love watching him bat but feels as though lately he's became one of these players that either get out for sod all or can be totally destructive once comfortable and hit a big century or two

Still think its a mistake dropping Compton an letting Root open, although Bairstow has done well since he's came back so it'd have to be one of them three and it wouldn't been harsh on Root to drop him after what he's achieved the past 6 months

and there we go.

So odd to see such poor batting considering the conditions.

Maybe apart from Bell most of the batsmen have been complacent?

I think there is alot of complacency.

You have to remember Australia are on their arses (Maybe a tad harsh, but lets be honest they're poor atm, struggling) yet we constantly make it hard for ourselves.

Even if Australia are poor we still need to be at our best to beat them, god help us if/when Australia pick up again.

It's a good job we lead by 250+, because I can see us getting bowled out cheaply. Surely Bell can't do it 3 times in a row? (Hoping I'm proven wrong and made to look silly)

With a lead already of 264 and the way the pitch Anderson and Swann are playing I cannot see Australia scoring 400+, so another 140 today and then have a bowl at them. If we are still batting at the end of the day the game will be out of reach

Pretty comfortable this morning, just building a substantial lead.

Looking that way, we should score a total that will be impossible for Australia to beat. Some nice batting been very good so far.

Looked like it hit the floor. Good decision imo.

It was out, ball didn't bounce up into the hands.

Root so close to a century.
