Aus Fox Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 ...but there was a noise, I heard it every time, as it goes past the bat there was a faint noise, not as loud as when he hit the pad, but there was a noise, snicko didn't pick up that noise, but I can clearly hear a noise on the TV. Can nobody else hear that? Does it sound like straws rubbing together, as someone in the background clutching at them?

Can nobody else hear that? There was the faintest noise but it certainly wasn't bat on ball; Khawaja missed it by a bus ride. I know sometimes a bat handle can make a slight noise which can be heard on the stump mics.
Captain... Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Does it sound like straws rubbing together, as someone in the background clutching at them? They've just shown a longer snicko and there is a second noise after it has gone past the pad, which is probably what I can hear, but on the full speed replays with sound it appears to be at the same time. Not saying he is out, I'm just saying that I can hear a second noise and the commentators aren't mentioning it, I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who can hear it. The only reason for not overturning it is that second noise causing doubt.
ScouseFox Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 My stream died. Anyone want to be a darling and hook me up?

Lay off the frothies mate, the only noise was bat pad the fact there was daylight between bat and ball is enough to overturn it.
Captain... Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Lay off the frothies mate, the only noise was bat pad the fact there was daylight between bat and ball is enough to overturn it. Should have been overturned, but there was a second faint noise, and I can only assume that has caused doubt, as otherwise there is no evidence he hit it.
Swarles Barkley Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 I dont think DRS should be removed as thats not at fault. Its the blumin blind third umpire thats the problem. In my opinion they should have a panel of around 3 people to look over a review. I also dont understand why snicko isnt used. They say it takes too long but didnt it only take around 2mins after the decision was given out to be shown.

Snicko has been improved and is now faster, but I think the new version hasn't been fully tested yet. Interesting that the 3rd umpire is now isolated and has to work the technology himself, speculating on the telly if they are actually savvy enough to use it.
purpleronnie Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 This is pay back for all the years of aussie cheats.
Swarles Barkley Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Given not out. Now i know there is no mark on hotspot what else could it be?
Guest MattP Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Hotspot is clearly having some problems this series. Smith has clearly hit that and it hasn't shown up. Reminded me of the one we got away with Bell at the SCG when everyone in the ground knew he had nicked it and nothing showed up.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 It wasn't a bat on ball sound that, that noise coincides with his back foot scuffing across his stumps.
Guest MattP Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 It wasn't a bat on ball sound that, that noise coincides with his back foot scuffing across his stumps. It was too sharp for a foot scrape, sounded like an edge to me but won't complain after the earlier one. Can't overturn it.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Also impossible to overturn when there is no deviation, it continued to go to Prior's left, where an edge more in sync with that noise would of had it straighten more to Prior.
Captain... Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Snicko showed the noise to be after the ball had passed the bat, I guess it was the right decision, but I was convinced we had him.
Captain... Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Why is Cook under bowling Jimmy Anderson? Giving you a chance, the sponsors want to keep the series alive as long as possible.
Guest MattP Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Why is Cook under bowling Jimmy Anderson? Having to share between three seamers. How did the ump not give that LBW? So clear.
purpleronnie Posted 1 August 2013 Posted 1 August 2013 Oh well, its manchester its bound to rain, we retain the ashes, horrah!
