5waller5 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 We lost 2-0 to Shrewsbury last year and drew against York like this year. That was hardly an indication of anything to come as we did very well for two thirds of the season after that playing some great stuff, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets. Maybe we'll be shit, maybe we won't, but these games mean nothing and can't be used as accurate indicators of anything! Pre season is all we have to go on .... and it's not been great by anyone's standards. We'll see in a few weeks .....
Webbo Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 What do people get out of making a loss not significant???? You are listening to the game or there ..... whilst also posting on a LCFC forum ..... How can losing to Northampton and playing so badly make you so happy?????? It doesn't make anyone happy but some of us have a sense of perspective.

5waller5 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Pre-season results and performances don't really matter on a the grand scale of things, but when the mood around the club and fans is like it is at ours right now, this does casts further doubts. It's the distinct lack of goals against dog muck opposition that disturbs me. Port Vale, York and Northampton and we've scored 2 goals against them. But something that nobody can bury under the carpet is the appalling defending at set pieces yet again, nothing has changed. If Pearson cannot get his defence, his bread and butter to resolve this long standing problem then how is he going to achieve anything else? The pits. This.
foxfanazer Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Barcelona just drew 2-2 with Lechia Gdansk! Dead certs for relegation imo
kingfox Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Forum legend Liam said on twitter, Drinkwater was poor. He needs to make a comeback on this forum, what a legend.
FoxyPalace.com Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Barcelona just drew 2-2 with Lechia Gdansk! Dead certs for relegation imo Good for them, least they scored 2! We cant
5waller5 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 It doesn't make anyone happy but some of us have a sense of perspective. I don't think there's anything wrong with my sense of perspective .... just talking about a game that we've just lost to northampton. Interestingly in interview (is this whitbread?) .... he's mentioned a hangover from last season ..... ok he said there wasn't one ... but the evidence suggests there is with pre season being as dire as the last 20 games.
wurmer Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 The sheer number of apologists and deluded folk on here is staggering! There's nothing wrong losing friendlies - if the team put in good performances. We haven't Not once this preseason. That's the worrying part, not the result.
Rincewind Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Back to General Chat to have my ears burned. Don't know where is worse.

Simmo86 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 The fans that spent their money to pay to watch that crap. As I said it is only pre-season but we should be putting 4/5 against Northampton. More fool them for paying a stupid amount of money for a pre season friendly. Random results are par for the course in pre season
ballso Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 to be fair, the 'friendlies mean nothing' and 'it's all about fitness, not the result' doesn't wash with me. if i was playing, i'd want to win every game as ultimately, regardless of the opposition, winning breeds confidence.
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 I presume the current excuses will be along the lines of: 'Its a friendly, so it doesn't matter' 'At least it's a good run out for the lads' 'It's the kick up the arse the players need' 'At least so and so (add name) had a good game Christ the excuses are manifold and have been for many many years. Personally, I say again, winning generally breeds winning. The pre season sounds pretty much dog turd, in terms of performances. Hold on, one more.. 'They are saving themselves for the real thing'....
FoxesFan123 Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Not just looking at this friendly, but it will be a struggle this season. We lost most our games in second half of the season (relegation form) and have signed one player who will most likely be a 'squad' player. It will be tough, I hope people realise this and don't have too high expectations.
Guest MattP Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 More fool them for paying a stupid amount of money for a pre season friendly. Random results are par for the course in pre season Here here, anyone daft enough to pay £15 to watch a friendly against Northampton should expect to be taken for a turnip. Cardiff lost 3-2 at Brentford tonight, Barcelona drew with some random Polish side, Mansfield lost to Coventry yesterday, they all won't be pressing panic buttons, serious stuff starts Saturday and most of this lot won't even be near the starting line up.

Did we have a hangover last year when we lost to Shrewsbury and drew against York? It's be lovely to steamroller everyone, but it would mean nothing. Just as losing games preseason means nothing, rarely do preseasons show exactly what's to come. Games like this happen every year for almost every team. Lets just worry about Boro.
foxfanazer Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 Good for them, least they scored 2! We cant So if we'd drawn 2-2 tonight you'd be saying least we scored 2?Thought not!
Jace Posted 30 July 2013 Posted 30 July 2013 SSL was actually decent all game. Didn't watch the match but heard he did make 1 mistake
