Cheers Fez, CB is my main worry in this formation!

Agreed, especially the two man-marking centre-back positions. Morgan will be fine if he ends up playing as the spare man but the other two would concern me if I was bothered. Which, increasingly, I'm not.

Forgot about this game tonight, blimey lost again! okay it's the only the pre season but conceding five goals in two games isn't that good. Plus what is it one goal in three! dearie me. We need a striker! how many more times have we got to say this. We offload Beckford with no replacement in mind! thinking that Vardy will solve our problems. Come on Pearson surely your not that stupid!

I'd say that these fixtures do have some relevance, or we'd not be playing them. Yes it's about being match sharp, getting a look at some fringe player options, but it's about scoring goals too, and that has been sadly lacking in these games, and for the entire year so far with this 'settled squad'. The players should be sharp now, the big KO is only days away, I'm worried it'll be a struggle this season.

Just so it doesn't get forgotten, Kasper made 3 worldie saves! I thought James gave the ball away a bit. RDL looked dangerous. Yolo can't cross for shit. Vardy isn't a footballer. SSL was compose up till the OG. Whitbread was solid. Standard Kasper.

The bit where he made three blocks from a yard or two out in the space of 10 seconds was superb.

We should also take into accout that northampton and a fair few ( I have been advised) trialist playing who had something to motivate them which we sorely did not. That said we showed very little real quality and I do question the midfield trio in the first half, unless it was to test the defence.

I take the square root of **** all from pre season games and so should you all.

The talk of sharpness, match fitness and all that bollocks is a load of rubbish too. These are professional footballers for gawds sake, they haven't been smoking 60 a day for the past 6 weeks.

So what is pre season for?

So what is pre season for?

If we'd won all our preseason games by a comfortable margin would you be calling Pearson a genius or saying that we were certs for promotion?

Whatever way you want to spin it the performances in this 3-5-2 formation seems diabolical because we don't have the personnel to fufill that formation NP should play his standard 4-4-2 it is predictable but it is the only formation our players are any good at.

No but I'd be thinking that we have found our form again .... great timing to be finding form and the scoring habit, just before the first game of the season .... hit the ground running full of confidence.

To get fit.

Win on Saturday and no one will give a shit about pre season!

To get fit and to prepare for the first game ..... the best preparation is winning and playing well.

But hey ..... it's no massive deal ..... and you're right .... win on saturday and it's forgotten...... (lose on saturday and we may be discussing poor preparation).

What is worrying is that this is happening 4 days before the start of the season.

It's all well and good losing 2-3 weeks before, as we were last season - freak results in pre-season often come down to different managers' preferences for how and when to get their players fit - but 4 days before the season starts that leveller should be long gone.

I'm not panicking by any means but it strikes me that a lot of the posters I'd normally consider balanced are unwilling to even consider the possibility that this may be a symptom that all is not well on the footballing front.

It doesn't matter what the occasion of the game is and what it represents, the players represent LCFC and they should go out with the intention of putting on a decent performance and win.

The professionalism of Monaco was there for all to see. We were made to look stupid that afternoon and in tonight's game, at £15 a head, the fans who were in attendance must be none too pleased.

It's a shambles and I don't care how you dress it up, it's just not good enough regardless of what the game represents.

I agree that is a concern and we are going into Saturday in poor form but some people are simply using pre season because of their agenda against Pearson.

Tey probably don't care about the preseason results but it adds fuel to their fire

Panic much?

On Saturday, we played against a Ligue 1 side that splashed out £50m on a single player. If you seriously think we're going to give our best that close to the start of the season, risk injuries or even thrash Monaco in a friendly, I think you're sadly mistaken.

I would use the term "shambles* should we finish in mid-table or even lower next season. But before that happens, I suggest you take a chill pill.

The results of friendlies mean nothing but you'd hope the games are being used to prepare for the season.

Well, clearly, we haven't had much benefit from them, we can't have gained much confidence from them, the Monaco game was completely pointless and it doesn't sound like we'd exactly found our flow tonight. Pearson is trying out a new formation but obviously we've not mastered it yet, whether we will or not remains to be seen, so we haven't decided on that either.

I also don't think Pearson has played his best team, or even the one he'd consider to be our best team, together in this pre-season. Letting the youngsters and fringe players play is important buy I was hoping that he'd pick his best 11 in the last friendly or two.

I really hope these friendlies are meaningless because there aren't many positives to take from pre-season. Pearson says he knows who he's going to play on Saturday and it's important he gets it right quickly.

I'm almost certain he still doesn't know his best team or formation. There's just something missing at the minute.

Really hope they're gonna prove me wrong but I've not seen anything to make me think they will.
