Tey probably don't care about the preseason results but it adds fuel to their fire What concerns most is not the results (this is pre season after all) but rather the level of performance. There is nothing to cling to in terms of emerging stars, link up play, defensive solidity etc. People are quite correct that ultimately it is Saturday which is most important but I don't think even the most 'positive' poster could dress up the performances of this pre season.

If you seriously think we're going to give our best that close to the start of the season, risk injuries or even thrash Monaco in a friendly, I think you're sadly mistaken. I would use the term "shambles* should we finish in mid-table or even lower next season. But before that happens, I suggest you take a chill pill. No panic. I'm not the one in charge. £50m should not have to guarantee you a level of professionalism from a player - just where was the desire from our players to go out there and give it a go? We are currently in a shambles. Taking into account our current league form you are suggesting exactly where we will finish. No need for a chill pill, although someone is at 2/1...

A couple of lower league fitness exercises, to get rid of the rust and get the touch going ..... A big game against class opposition to test ourselves ...... not expecting much from the game in terms of result. A reasonably competitive lower league opposition expecting a win and to put on a performance and grab a few goals .... get a clean sheet and set everyone up with a positive to go into saturday with. Whichever way you look at it .... it's not really panned out as the best preparation.

Falcao warrants every single penny of his market value - but then again, he's played in La Liga, against some of the best teams in Europe. Looking at the other Monaco players, their credentials combined alone make our squad blush. How on earth can you compare those two worlds and put them on the same level? Suppose we would've beaten Monaco - I'm pretty sure the temporary collective boost of confidence would've had a lot of people on here ecstatic and climbing up the walls. But what does it prove for the season itself? Nothing. There's just no comparison in sportive ways, the friendly was set to allow as many players as possible some match practice, it wasn't about winning (Monaco changed about ten players towards the end of the second half). "Shambles"? Shambles is different, shambles is when you crumble from the start, shambles is when you don't even show up, shambles is when you don't show desire in a competitive game, leading to a devastating season on the whole. And what does the league form from LAST season got to do with a new season, where all teams start with a clean slate? Following your logic, the relegated teams from the Premier League must be wetting their pants with the form they're on and the promoted ones from League One confident of surviving already...

The negative spin that is put on bad results is really frustrating, I have to sway myself away from the negativity- talk about media influencing perspective. It worries me that RL are the connection between the fans and the club (or a form of it) and they're feeding us so much negative tripe. If those of us with brain cells can divert the negativity they create, what does that do for the less gifted? Is that a main contributor toward the negativity you hear from the seemingly thick fans voicing their unwanted opinions on match day, the phone in and on social media outlets? Maybe the producers need to have a think. Stringer poses questions that convey balanced answers, like a good journalist should, but Young is very 'bad cop'- and if you watched a game whilst listening to his comments you'd be extremely confused and asking yourself if you're watching the same game. Selection of callers who are less retarded wouldn't go amiss either- they have a voice able to encourage others, this may influence negativity surrounding the club. Just some thoughts stemming from tonight's coverage.

That said we showed very little real quality and I do question the midfield trio in the first half, unless it was to test the defence. so players was not trying to impress try stake a claim on a place for saturday?

The only time we have looked dangerous at all in pre season is when we have played 352 with RDL looking by far our most potent attacking threat. We've also conceded 2 goals from set pieces whilst playing the formation which gives people the impression it doesn't work which is incorrect. 352 will be our go to tactic IMO.

This was my argument 5 games in last year. 3 away defeats yet 3 displays where we'd completely mullered the opposition for the majority of the game, it was a matter of time before our luck changed and it did.

I can see people's concerns here, don't get me wrong, but I still think there's been some incredible over-reactions in general to it all. Like I say. Until we're playing like this in the league - then I won't be seriously worrying. I'm a bit concerned but Pearson playing down their importance has given him an initiative to surprise us all. If we're playing as bad as this early on in the league, then I will lose faith in him massively.

Something is not right with the team. This is virtually the same group of players that murdered teams at times last season. We look and sound clueless at the moment.
