KFS Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Which is why we won't go up. The best teams will be putting sides like Leeds to the sword at home. We made sod all. What like Brighton? Same status as us last season, arguably got more quality about them going forward and they lost to Leeds.Too early to be throwing comments like that about, it's a cliche but we're running a marathon here.

fleckneymike Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Appreciate I've had a few shandies and paid £31 to watch that, today. Two things from today 1. Our tactic seemed to play for throw ins. 2. Is Whitbread made of 50p's?
Foxhateram Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Typical yawn fest negative posts. We were solid today, we set out to hit on the counter but every time we did someone or something including the ref found something to scupper it. The ref was terrible today, gave free kicks for nout, then missed big terrible challenges ala dyer being punched, got in the way several times and had no clue about playing advantage. Overall a positive performance for this formation where we nearly nicked it. Nige saved those attacking edge players until a good time. Soak up pressure then hit them when they knacked. Only a post stood in our way.
Kitchandro Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 If you want exciting football go and support Barcelona That is everything that's wrong with the attitude of Leicester fans That is a silly thing to say. The whole reason we like football is because we find it entertaining. I don't think it's much to ask to want your team to try and play entertaining football.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Should be pointed out that defensively we were sound today. Didn't think Leeds were particularly threatening but what they had was mostly dealt with. Somewhat concerned about creativity in the team as are most people but continuing with that sort of defending today will allow us to win low scoring games while the team (hopefully) improves going forward.

Only a post stood in our way. Do me a favour. We were absolutely dreadful today. We only looked threatening when the subs came on, which was way too late. It's not negative to judge a match on it's own merits. We looked like a boring, one-dimensional, clueless lower midtable team today. It's not positive to say it was a positive perfomance today either, it's just wrong. Nigel obviously didn't save the subs for the right time because we didn't score, yet looked more dangerous when they came on. That means we brought them on too late, because the players on the pitch before did fvck all. How do you describe a display where we couldn't get our passing going and created very few chances as positive?
lgfualol Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 If we played the whole game like we do in the last 5 minutes, we'd win every time.
KFS Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Appreciate I've had a few shandies and paid £31 to watch that, today.I now agree with your post

Only a post stood in our way. Dyer wasn't punched in the face he attempted to tackle like a girl and hit himself in the process. We weren't solid at all, a lot of last ditch tackles and blocks were made, being 'solid' means those chances don't even materialise.
Monsell1976 Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 We were terrible today, no excuses about the ref, the weather and so on and so on. If people are happy with that performance, and think things are going to plan, I will have a pint of whatever their drinking. Moaning about negative post, **** me anybody that paid to watch that today, has every right to moan, if people are willing to put up with that negative football, good on you, but don't slate the people who have a moan
cjslcfc Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 It's the second league game of the season ffs. Can't imagine what this place would have been like had we lost! If we win at Derby next week then 7 points from the first 3 games won't look so bad now will it... Understandably a drab affair but a hell of a long way to go - in the season and in the development of this formation

Yep, although playing with 5 at the back, we should be. I'd have taken 4 points from the first two games.
davelcfc100 Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 boring game, teams cancelled each other out until change of formations, lacked creativity until knocky came on, vardy looks better than last season, not much more to say imo

Yep, and despite being a bit of a crap, dour team themselves they got behind us on the right side a few times with just lobbed high/long balls. Mainly because Konch was out of position and Whitbread is hopelessly slow.
Callabinho Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Has anyone seen what they did to the away section? Pulled the signs down in the bar area and were standing on top of the turnstile units stamping on them an kicking the doors in, apparently it's a state in there!

If we're to persist with this formation having someone who can cross a ball would be a good starting point.

Mainly because Konch was out of position and Whitbread is hopelessly slow. It was a plan of theirs. Their forwards were pulling out wide and they played lots of diagonal balls down the channels. As a back 3 it's very hard to mark the forwards then and the wing backs tend to be too high up so it ends up in the space behind them. A good plan executed by Leeds, however negative it was, and it ended up meaning the two teams cancelled each other out.
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Yep, although playing with 5 at the back, we should be. I'd have taken 4 points from the first two games. Yeah that's a fair point. Our wing backs were fairly cautious too so you'd expect us to keep them out. Also happy with four points although I expected them to come the other way round myself.
Lasty Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Reasonably happy with the start we've made. It doesn't look like we'll concede many which bodes well for the future. Yes, it wasn't pretty, but that's this league all over. What it does is give us a bit of a platform and the fact we're sitting with four points after two matches suggests that we may have become a tougher nut to crack. We were quite brittle in a fair few games last season. Obviously, some people may not be satisfied with it from an entertainment point of view but I find that you can rarely have it both ways for any significant length of time at this level. Let's keep that points total ticking. Onwards and upwards!

cjslcfc Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Not so much a 'good plan' as a '****ing obvious one'. Fair. But as I've said it's early days for us playing in this way which means things like that are likely to trouble us early on. I'm willing to give it time before I start worrying about the formation and how we've been playing.
Weller in Tights Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 Positives? 4 points from 6 is an ok start. Negatives? 45 mins at Boro were appalling and pretty much most of today was at best average, A long hard season ahead. Konch can't play 3-5-2 De Laet who can play 3-5-2 was the player Pearson chose to take off first!! As I have said before, I like 3-5-2, it can be a very positive formation for good passing football - IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PLAYERS
hackneyfox Posted 11 August 2013 Posted 11 August 2013 5 defenders, 3 midfielders who are reluctant to go forward, 2 strikers starved of supply, and loads of hoof. It may only be 2 games in but I'm struggling to see where we have improved from the end of last season, this just is more of the same shilo.
