kingfox Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 We're going to Brazil, to get beaten on penalties. Yayyyy!!!
Uncle Albert Posted 15 October 2013 Author Posted 15 October 2013 Brilliant Steven Gerrard. Brilliant Wayne Rooney. Brilliant Leighton Baines. Brilliant Andros Townsend. Brilliant Gary Cahill. Brilliant Michael Carrick. Brilliant Phil Jagielka. RIO.
Guest ttfn Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Well done Hodgson and co. He has taken a lot of stick over the past year or so, but he's managed this group perfectly. We've been adventurous at home and conservative away. We've got through unbeaten and, if we're honest, rarely troubled. The last couple of games have shown that he is not just a defensive coach. As he showed a lot at West Brom and Fulham, he knows how to set teams up to attack when he needs to. There's a lot of work for us to do if we're even going to make the last 16 in Brazil, but Hodgson has done what was required.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Fair play to Gerrard and Rooney tonight. Won't change my opinion on Rooney through one very good game in an important match though. Pleased for Woy. Really like the bloke and has come in for some real undeserved flak recently.
Bert Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Absolutely buzzing. Deserved it again from start to finish. Two positive attacking displays and we've got what we deserved. Unbeaten in the group stages, 4 goals conceded throughout. Rooney, Townsend and Smalling were brilliant tonight. A bit shaky at times but Rooney really stepped up tonight. Was impressed with Baines going forward but he was a bit dodgy defending. Loved seeing the passion and joy on the faces of the goalscorers tonight. What a great sight. Joe Hart was solid and Jagielka did well. Few negatives and lots of positives. Well done to the manager as well. Went out with intent and it worked well. Looking forward to the draw now!
MooseBreath Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Pretty much dominated from start to finish. Could have have four or five. Hope we take this attacking intent to Brazil. We'll get ripped apart by a good team of course but at least we'll have given it a go.
Corky Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Was a really good finish by Gerrard, off balance and a lovely little clip in. Deserved winners of the group, Hodgson has made big calls in the last two games and got them right. Well done
Tielemans63 Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 That was a very good performance. Fair play to Hodgson. The front 4 were all over Poland. Thought Cahill had a great game.
Webbo Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 What an absolutely great game. means I won't have to sulk through next summer and avoid the football, until the quarters at least.
Leicesterpool Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 que sera sera whatever will be will be, we're going to Brazil
Leicesterpool Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 So folks who should we face in the warm ups, heard talk it could be Germany and Argentina. United States away would be a good warm up.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 que sera sera whatever will be will be, we're going to Brazil Thats got as much rhyme in it as one of Ken's poems.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 So folks who should we face in the warm ups, heard talk it could be Germany and Argentina. United States away would be a good warm up. Theyll wait ti the group is drawn first. Christ I'd love Germany away. Knowing the FA they'll show my reasons why I utterly hate them and it would indeed be something like USA or Argentina away 8 months before the fans fly out for the WC.
Uncle Albert Posted 15 October 2013 Author Posted 15 October 2013 que sera sera whatever will be will be, we're going to Brazil Sang nobody ever.. I've been impressed with Roy in the last two games, just why didn't he adopt this style sooner? Still we have qualified now, let's hope we can play in this kind of way now up until next summer and experiment more with players like Townsend. Big games are for big players, typical that Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney stepped up and seen us through.

Tielemans63 Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Couple of negatives - we were almost torn a new one on the break a couple of times. I also thought that was the wrong situation to bring on an aged Frank Lampard, his and Wilshere's substitutions were the wrong way round. Lamps was s bit of an accident waiting to happen and struggled with the pace of the game. I'm a big fan of Leighton Baines but if he wants Cashley's shirt then he needs to stop giving the ball away. Still a great performance though.
Fox92 Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 Big players step up in the big games. I think today highlighted the value of Rooney and Gerrard... Really loved Gerrard's determination to actually beat his players and score, he was loving it in his celebration. Really great to see.
Leicesterpool Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 No sorry on talksport it could be Australia and Germany, Argentina turned down the invitation apparently!
Kitchandro Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 First half is how England should be playing, especially against weaker nations. Second we lacked abition again and it stopped our momentum. And how much better did Baines look than Cole? See what happens when you put a left back in who can actually pass and cross a ball? Still, Cashley will be back in as soon as he's fit I'm sure. And it's such a breath of fresh air to see a winger actually try to take players on and make things happen in an England shirt. Well done Andros Townsend.
Corky Posted 15 October 2013 Posted 15 October 2013 No sorry on talksport it could be Australia and Germany, Argentina turned down the invitation apparently! I fancy 3-0
