21st Century Fox Posted 28 October 2013 Author Posted 28 October 2013 You clearly didn't watch series 2, zombies very much took a back seat and there was a lot more character development and tension between the characters, there was very little getting from "B to C" it was all about searching for Sophia whilst trying to create a safe place in the world again as well as the erosion of trust of human beings, other survivors and within the group. A lot of people didn't like it because of that and because it wasn't like series 1 there wasn't enough action and too much talking. This is the problem with a successful first series, if you try and repeat series one again, as they did with prison break, people will get bored, if you try and do something different people will criticise because it is not what they were expecting. I hated Season 2, because of the talking but not because I dislike shows that try to develop their characters but because it was so ****ing formulaic. You could almost tick off the pattern to each episode... two character pair off > talk > two more characters pair off > talk.... some zombie related event > two character pair off >talk. I wasn't watching it for the action but the whiny, conversations between characters I couldn't care less about started to really grind.
absolutelegend Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Heroes, tried hard but couldn't get into it. Lost. Nonsense. The last 2 seasons of Prison Break were rubbish, but I still watched them. 24. Utter nonsense.
ousefox Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Have I Got News For You. Sadly, this formerly fantastic programme has declined so much that it just isn't worth bothering with. Under Angus Deayton the show was brilliant, Paul Merton, although he didn't like Deayton, actually participated. Even after he went there were some good guest hosts (Brucie's first was a classic) but now the show is so stale, the guest hosts are hardly guests any more given their regularity and the contestants' quality is shocking. Eventually it turned into jokes about John Prescott or Boris. Probably should've finished about 5 years ago, the dead horse has been well and truly flogged. I only started watching it about 5 years ago and it's my favourite programme on the tele. Love Paul Merton. Some episodes can be a bit of a let down though I have to admit it.
lavrentis Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Prison Break is class. Don't get how you can give up on it.
Charl91 Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Dexter. I thought it was only an average program to begin with, and it kept getting worse. Stopped watching after the trinity-killer season. I wish I hadn't watched Heroes past season 1.
StanSP Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Prison Break is class. Don't get how you can give up on it. Have you watched all 4 seasons?
lavrentis Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Have you watched all 4 seasons? To the end my brother.

Webbo Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 I haven't seen Question Time for years. When they have expert panellists like Eddie Izzard or Russell Brand then what the fecking point?
lavrentis Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 A poor Have I got News for You > good Mock the Week
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Prison break was truly awful after the first 2 seasons. Became absolutely ridiculous after that. Also have still to watch the last series of peep show in its entirety as that has gone from a little bit of unknown brilliance during the first series to a pathetic run of the mill brit comedy. On the other hand I watched a few of the 1st series of Bad Education and thought what a load of shite but gave it a chance for the second series and there was some funny moments in it.

Kitchandro Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 The Simpsons. Take the first 10 or so series and it's the best show of all time. It was still good up until about season 17 in fact. But I haven't watched it regularly for about 5 years and I won't even give the new ones a second thought now. It's just lost it's charm these days, the jokes are either repetitive or just not funny, and they cram the show full of guest stars who become the centre of attention rather than adding to an episode with a storyline like they used to. I have watched Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and Celebrity Juice and have enjoyed all of them but get bored of them fairly quickly.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 The Walking Dead, I liked the first season, but didn't get into the 2nd season and really couldn't be bothered watching it, all about Breaking Bad for me, in which i'm half way into the 4th season
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Mock The Week. Used to be very, very funny, but some of the regulars (Addison especially) are really not funny. I'm close to giving up on Homeland as it has become nonsensical and people are acting out of character (Saul's rant about wearing a headress, for crying out loud - wasn't as if she was wearing a veil, and even if she was, so what!) Don't understand all the Walking Dead bashing, still loving it into season 4.

I wasn't watching it for the action but the whiny, conversations between characters I couldn't care less about started to really grind. It could have been done much better, but I was mainly disagreeing with the fella saying it was the same as series one, which it wasn't. There was a lot of chat about them not having the budget to do what they wanted with series 2. Personally I enjoyed series 2 I thought the stuff with Rick and Shane was very good and after watching series 3 you can see the point of a lot of series 2 developing the characters, Herschel, Maggie and Glen, Andrea, even Dale and Carol. There are still a couple of weak characters and it is not perfect, but series 3 is well worth checking out, not started on series 4, probably have a bit of a catch up when there are more episodes out. I persevered with Dexter until the end of season 6, then despite the big cliff hanger, I've just not got round to series 7 and subsequently 8, has it finished now?
FoxesAreBlue Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Orphan black. Though I've downloaded them on iplayer I doubt I'll watch them now. Good idea for the story but why oh why do they hire bad American actors and then tell them to do English? It sounds crap. I like that! The bird is quite tidy too. Tatiana Maslaney.
Swarles Barkley Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Lost. Fvck me did this go downhill quickly. Great storyline for first 3 seasons then went completely shit during season 4. So annnoying
absolutelegend Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 I persevered with Dexter until the end of season 6, then despite the big cliff hanger, I've just not got round to series 7 and subsequently 8, has it finished now? Yes 8 was the last. The last season and its ending were awful, but that shouldn't take away from some of the brilliant series' that went before that. Ice truck killer, bay harbour butcher and trinity were all excellent storylines.

I think Frank Darabont left as the showrunner after season 1 and it really seemed to show. Season 1 seemed as if it was from the kind of creative force that directed The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile but season 2 seemed as if someone more used to keeping a show safely ticking over was running it, which to me made it a bit vanilla. I'm looking forward to Frank Darabont's latest show Mob City and Shane from TWD is in it. I'd say you made the right decision with Dexter, it just got so riddled with coincidence and plot holes it was ridiculous. I think that was another show that suffered from the showrunner leaving after the Trinity season.
Leicesterpool Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 I've gotta to say the simpsons, i think the show is started to become dated some of story lines are starting to repeat themselves with slightly altered plots, i'm also not finding them as funny as i use to. I think the series should have ended with 2007 film, giving the show a big sent off on the big screen or just sticking to just one Christmas special a year. Another show is Benidorm which i believe is set to return next month and i think that show is starting to date.
steveherbe Posted 28 October 2013 Posted 28 October 2013 Given up with match of the day, its crap since City left 10 years ago!
