TV Shows You've Given Up On.

Most things on tv are repeated to death or soaps that have lost their charm (limited charm they had).

I've given up on Big Bang now, the first few series were class but it's really dropped in form recently, same goes for how I met your mother, 2 broke girls, new girl and so on. Scrubs was also a typical example.

Pure repetition of boringness. What ever happened to great dramas like heartbeat, the royal, doc Martin etc things with originality! With something different. Zombies and vampires are for kids!

Not really a TV fan, I do think alot of rubbish is broadcast, and I'd much rather stick one of my Only Fools or Fawlty Towers DVDs on than watch some un-funny, un-educational TV programme.

However, I do watch 'Have I Got News For You'. Been watching it for several years now, still think it's funny. I'm a big fan of both Hislop and Merton, Merton especially is a funny guy.

You clearly didn't watch series 2, zombies very much took a back seat and there was a lot more character development and tension between the characters, there was very little getting from "B to C" it was all about searching for Sophia whilst trying to create a safe place in the world again as well as the erosion of trust of human beings, other survivors and within the group. A lot of people didn't like it because of that and because it wasn't like series 1 there wasn't enough action and too much talking.

This is the problem with a successful first series, if you try and repeat series one again, as they did with prison break, people will get bored, if you try and do something different people will criticise because it is not what they were expecting.

Fair point actually, I did watch season 2 but seem to have forgotten most of it. The thing that stuck in my mind was them on the run again at the end after the farm was overrun. I think that was season 2 anyway! Season 2 really did slow down though. Don't think I got round to watching season 3.

Another one to mention is scrubs, I saw a new episode the other day and half the cast had gone. I mean wtf? I wasn't that keen before but replacing half the key characters with a new round of med students? GTFO!

Fair enough, I thought series 2 was enough of a departure from series 1 to not be going over old ground and the threat of zombies was very much an aside, much like series 3 when the series is about 2 rival groups of survivors and again the zombies are incidental (it is also much better than series 2).

As for Scrubs, and most comedy shows, I really don't know if I've seen them all, I've probably seen every episode of Scrubs and shows like Friends and probably all but the latest Simpsons and Family Guy but I don't know as you can watch episodes as stand alone, so I don't really see it as giving up, just dipping in and out.

I thought the most recent series of TBBT was decent. HIMYM has gone rapidly down hill though I agree, and whoever decided that Scrubs should continue after they did the did all the final credits and the montage on the sheet deserves to be sacked. Although saying that, it was obviously a money motivated decision that played on the reputation which Scrubs had built in the first few series.

I'm currently watching Frasier and despite being 9 seasons in, the quality is still high. May have dipped slightly but that's inevitable after 200 odd episodes.

Another show is Benidorm which i believe is set to return next month and i think that show is starting to date.

Was Benidorm ever not dated?

A sitcom shown on what's nigh enough primetime iTV, set in a seaside resort whilst ticking off every box for every last stereotype going. Cutting edge, that.

Don't watch things you find un-funny or un-educational then? I find it bizarre you choose not to watch television on the basis that some of it is garbage when on the reverse of that coin there's some absolutely mind-blowing stuff being made. The programmes you want to avoid aren't difficult to swerve, especially now you can watch nigh on everything online.

That's the same with every single form of media going too. It'd be like me not wanting to listen to any new music because I don't like One Direction and just sticking with records I already know because I don't like manufactured pop. The two things don't correlate whatsoever, you've made a really odd generalisation of such a huge medium.

I think the people who have given up on Walking Dead are about to miss a beast of a season. Don't really get why they've given up on if but each to their own

Its still the best series on TV.

I have to say I still enjoy HIGNFY. IT is hit and miss, however, utterly dependant on the guests they have because if both of the guests are dud and the presenter is a dud it's got no hope.

Guests hosts like Forsyth are why it's sometimes terrible. Couldn't even watch that episode, it wasn't HIGNFY, it was the Bruce Forsyth Show. Tedious.

Paul Merton's lack of effort is utterly frustrating too. He'll sit there, not laughing at anything, jumping on people answers, turning to the audience every now and then with a silly face and answering a question with a silly/funny answer. He either needs to put in a bit more effort, go on a sabbatical or just leave, he's adding nothing at present on the whole, Hislop is carrying the show on some occasions.

Too many to mention. I can't recall the last series we persevered with through to its finish. Probably Lewis which we are still watching but has taken on an odd kooky direction style with horror/gothic/supernatural influences. It's going away from what made it a good watch it in my opinion.

I cannot disagree... I should have just left it at "I just don't watch television".

But programmes like 'Geordie Shore', just no. I can avoid them, and I do, I just don't those sort of programmes.

Can't agree more. A victim of its own success. Unbelievably great first series, monumentally shit by the last series.

Season 1, and then the first half of season 2 were brilliant, then the end of 2&3 just seemed to get a bit far fetched. It picked up again series 4 for me though.

I watch a hell of a lot of American TV and i have given up on a lot of it along the way as well

Arrow - Same every week really annoyed me as it had potential.

Eastbound and Down - Just not funny

The Mob Doctor - started alright then went down hill

Sleepy Hollow - Wow thats terrible

Revolution - Good idea went down hill quickly

Can t think of any more off the top of my head but i'm sure there are more.

The vast majority of US "hit shows" go on to long. they are more interested in $$$ than producing an outstanding bit of TV.

Walking dead was a great example of that. Season 1 = Getting from A to B whilst avoiding lots of zombies, Season 2 = Getting from b to C whilst avoiding alot of zombies. For all its initial merit it was ruined by dragging it on.

Prison Break is another one - How many prisons can one guy break out of. It was ridiculous!

He only broke out of two. Easy! lol

The x factor is gash! Epitomises everything that is wrong with the music industry and the messages given to our young people! You want to be a musicina? No you don't need to be musically gifted, play an instrument, work hard etc etc. Just go a Tv show, give a sob story and have a semi decent singing voice! Oh yeah and if you aren't up to scratch we will embarrass you into never performing again by still putting it on TV and abusing you!

Surely its had its run by now and can piss off!

Absolutely poisonous show. The vast majority of it is appalling.
