StanSP Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 Isn't it slightly coincidental how Wood gets injured, Ebanks-Blake rumours start, and suddenly GTF says he wants to start games. Wood probably got injured before the SEB rumours started and the media cottoned on to it. And then GTF's agent or manager has sparked up and told him to sow some seeds...
kingfox Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 Bad loss, that's all I can say. Gotta keep relying on the Nuge by the looks of it, unless as stated in the Mercury today GTF is ready to set the King Power alight in a good way.
Kitchandro Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 He's looked disinterested all season, so i'm not sure how disappointed we should be with this really. Hopefully GTF gets a few more chances now, he's looked very classy since arriving. No he hasn't, he's looked refreshingly lively compared to the way he ended last season. Nugent on the other hand...
Walker Posted 12 December 2013 Posted 12 December 2013 No he hasn't, he's looked refreshingly lively compared to the way he ended last season. Nugent on the other hand... We're obviously watching a different player then, because he's been lacklustre every time i've seen him play. Nugent I agree with, but I can certainly see why NP was persisting with him over Wood.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 Amazing how many people would 'start with GTF'.... He's NOT the answer up front. He's ok to fetch on when defending a lead...and that's it.

I wouldn't have him as a regular starter either but I think it's pretty unfair to dismiss him as an option, especially when Nugent isn't at his best.

I think I've seen enough to know he shouldnt start. He's just not mobile enough. We'll see I guess.
foxfanazer Posted 13 December 2013 Posted 13 December 2013 I agree that GTF shouldn't be a starter. Not enough of a threat when we are playing on the break. Good option off the bench though
davieG Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Leicester City striker Chris Wood has suffered an injury scare. Wood made his comeback in Friday's 4-1 victory against Derby as a substitute after a month out of action with an injured hamstring. But he had to pull out of yesterday's under-21 game against Bolton. Wood was named in the starting line-up as he looks to regain match-fitness but withdrew after complaining that his hamstring felt tight during the warm-up. Under-21s manager Steve Beaglehole said he could not risk Wood in the 4-0 defeat to the Trotters. "He was going to get 45 minutes but he said his hamstring was tight, so I didn't want to take a risk on him," he said. "It was a precaution and he may be fine, but we couldn't risk him starting the game and making it worse by tearing or pulling his hamstring." foxfanazer Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Seems to really struggle with injuries. Would be a shame as he looked decent when he came on against the sheep. Brilliant option off the bench
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Oh dear, hope he's better soon
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 The amount of injuries Wood picks up for a lad of his age is not clever.
little Brian Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Chris Wood will become our first choice striker in time imo
Happy Fox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Chris Wood will become our first choice striker in time imo Not a chance we rely on pace upfront Wood is a very sluggish forward.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 The amount of injuries Wood picks up for a lad of his age is not clever. You make it sound like he chooses to get injured.
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Not a chance we rely on pace upfront Wood is a very sluggish forward. If he improves himself in the air, He could easily be first choice... He's good good positioning, I wouldnt say he is the slowest big striker I've seen....
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 You make it sound like he chooses to get injured.?The number of injuries picked up by a lad of his age is a worry. You might not like it but its true.
ithuriel Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 When he first came here he was great, then dipped in form with rumours of carrying an injury and has been out for a huge part of this season with injuries, hoping this latest news is nothing.
Jobyfox Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 ? Not for the first time you've lost me? The number of injuries picked up by a lad of his age is a worry. You might not like it but its true. The statement you used was: "The amount of injuries Wood picks up for a lad of his age is not clever." It might be a worry, but I think he's suggesting that Wood is unlucky or unfortunate rather than it being related to his (or anyone else's) lack of intelligence in any way.

Its a turn of phrase, and col was not commenting on the lads intelligence i am sure.
LCCFox96 Posted 14 January 2014 Posted 14 January 2014 Not a chance we rely on pace upfront Wood is a very sluggish forward. Wood is probably the best finisher we have out of all the strikers. + he also has good movement and is always roaming for new positions. I like him and think he has been unlucky so far this season. I'd back him to match vardy's current goal total by the end of the season if given a run in the team (not knocking vardy as he has been excellent this season)
