The Horse's Mouth Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 So WBA have decided to sack Steve Clarke, I find this unbelievable, they are not a big club as such and I think they were doing well under Clarke. It was good to see a young British manager in the prem doing quite well, some clubs seem so short sighted. Really hope it's not a case of another club going down the foreign manager route, Agreed he was doing very well
Stadt Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 Why? He hasn't done anything at this level. Surely using that logic managers can only stay in one country and only change leagues if they get promoted or relegated to them.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 14 December 2013 Posted 14 December 2013 They have had a very poor 2013 to be fair like Boro', but they would never had gone down.
Aus Fox Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Why? He hasn't done anything at this level. And the three you suggested have done what at this level? If and it's a massive if, Clarke would have to be number one choice.
Dan Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 First sticky patch? They've been absolutely diabolical in 2013.
Brainy Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 I'd take Clarke if Pearson was to go to WBA however unlikely. This
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 When was the last time a Premier League club appointed an English manager with no Premier League experience? I'm thinking Brian Laws at Burnley?

foxfanazer Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 They have been poor this season, although they have beaten some big sides. He has done a fantastic job there though. If we lost NP I'd takw him in a heartbeat
bovril Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Unbelievable. The first real sticky patch they've been through since he took over and they've binned him - disgraceful. I can't help but think that the WBA Xmas party story hasnt helped his cause. Their chairman is a bit of a **** though isn't he? He sacked Di Matteo when he didn't deserve it either. Di Matteo was taking them down. If they had stuck by him then they would not now be embarking on their 4th straight Prem season. As said above, they've been pants in 2013. The gap between success and failure is so large now and the amounts of money invested so great that chairmen will act as quickly as they sense a potential problem developing.
Mark_w Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 I think Pearson wouldn't want to work for the chairman there because he's obviously a bit of a nob and Pearson likes security. If Pearson is worried about security then I imagine he'd be desperate to leave Leicester.
Matt Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 I may regret saying this but I don't fear Pearson leaving us this season at all. He might go in the summer either through us not renewing his contract or him leaving of his own accord but I don't think he'll leave before the end of the season. When he rejoined us he claimed he had unfinished business here, that is still the case. I think Pearson is a very honest, loyal man too. I know he needs to look after number 1 and his future is on the line and should we not get promoted he might not have his contract renewed and might be out of a job but I think he is willing to take that gamble and lets be honest his record is pretty good, he's a good manager, another job would come up for him quite easy. Besides I know people are saying WBA should be safe but promotion on his CV looks much better than leaving a club to get into the Premiership, it's much more of an achievement. For the record even if we don't go up I think we should renew his contract in the summer - Unless he does something dramatically wrong between now and then.
The Blur Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Bit of a shock. A step backwards in their premiership stability IMO, they were a real yo-yo club back then before becoming an established Premiership team.
Leicesterpool Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Going for Di Matteo would be a step backwards for both, Roberto i think should wait along a little longer for a better job. Spurs situation is a little rocky also West Ham though Redknapp is likely to return there. I won't be surprised if Bruce jump ships Hull For West Brom! Expect another merry-go-round.

Corky Posted 15 December 2013 Posted 15 December 2013 Not really harsh, they've won 7 games in 34 in 2013. Albion fans on the radio last night said he took the momentum from Hodgson's side before that evaporated and hasn't turned it round.
