Does schlupp deserve a chance?

We've had Waghorn thread, what about this lad?

He's never had a long run since he's been a first team player, he's been played out of his alleged position,

Yet United had a good look at him?

Last season vardy was absolutely shocking most of the time, yet got chance after chance after chance.

He's shown so much promise at times, and looks to need games to build on, like waggy....

He's hardly ever had a good long run, and when he does appear in 4 games in a run, he gets 10 minutes..

So does he deserve his chance?

I think with the game time and with the right coaching he could be a good player, he knows where the net is, he just seems low on confidence.

Vardy wasn't as bad as we all thought last year. Our form nosedived when he was dropped and although he looked derived of confidence, he still added to the team in the same way he did this year.

 

Anyone who thinks he's a hard worker and nothing else ain't got a clue.

He has everything other than finishing ability in my opinion. He'll make it as a midfielder but not as a striker where he looks the absolute pits.

Gonna say no. I really don't think Jeff's got what it takes to be a top-end Championship striker. He's had chances to kick on, especially when Sven was here when he got plenty of game time up front - which IMO, was the time when he really should have grasped the nettle - but he never really has.

 

I also don't think he's shown enough quality to risk throwing him in the side and giving him a sustained run of games up front, just in case he might eventually come good. I don't really know how you can say he knows where the net is either, as apart from a hattrick against a league one (?) side in the cup, he's only scored about two or three goals for us ever?

 

He seems to be one of those players who gets better and better in people's minds the longer they're out of the side. I don't think the fact that Man United had a look at him really means much either apart from backing up the fact that he's probably not all that - at the end of the day, they weren't interested. If he was any kind of prospect, they probably would have put a cheeky bid in, but nothing.

 

I love to see an academy kid come good, but at the end of the day, with every point in the Championship being so vital, we simply can't afford to take a gamble on him when he's shown nothing to suggest he's worth it.

It's interesting to see everyone's views, he's been written off completely, I think he could make a good winger to be honest, he played ok at Watford,

To be honest I've been unfortunate that he gets most of his game time when I've not been able to go so I cannot make an accurate judgement on him,

I've not seen him do anything up front that makes me think he deserves a starting spot. All to many times when he gets the ball he should use his strength and pace but he turns around and the move is over.

 

Whereas Dyer knows his best (if not only) attribute is to run at defenders, schlupp can't grasp it. His finishing is also terrible for a striker, although none of our other strikers are setting the world alight in that department at the moment.

He's not our best option, but certainly a useful player - as he showed at Watford. You guys write our players off far too quickly - it's unrealistic to think that Schlupp should be playing better etc when he's had so little time on the pitch. When he has been on the pitch, he's been at left back - albeit a game or two in the cup.

Its a No from me honestly think we should look at sending him out on loan to get him some game time. The best chance he has in getting into our team is at LB and thats only if Konch is injured. I would rather have GTF than Schlupp

No he's crap edit- although I'd probably agree with Bert. His problem though is that hes not found a proper position yet. Not necessarily his fault I know. Unlike Waggy Schlupp has never been any good for us.

Not going to write him off as we've not seen enough of him to do that, but for someone described as being one of our most "natural" players on here the other day, he looks anything but that to me. When he gets the ball he looks like he panics, rushes things, snatches at shots etc.

Not as a striker. I think we are better off at developing him as a left back/left mid. He's not got the right attributes to succeed as a striker, not in our squad anyway.

 

He has looked alright as LB, but against Watford he got very lucky in the sense his positioning defensively was all over the place (reminds me of Evra for Utd sometimes).

 

Like Dan says above - a strange player and I do wonder if the management know where he's best suited in our side. So much potential and promise. It's time to start showing it and upping your game, Jeffrey. However, it must be tough when you can't get a good run of games to get in to form.

Neither are anything special technically but Dyer's product is actually far better than it looks. Dyer looks so clumsy, never in full control of the ball, but he's produced some excellent wing play this season - gets round the right back and chips it back into a decent position.

 

I can't get my head round our attacking situation at all. There's not a single partnership at the club that I think will get the best from both themselves as a pairing, or the whole team. We rely a lot on defending from the front - hence why Wood is never starting because his work rate/energy levels aren't close to the others.

 

If we can somehow get Wood's all-round game worked on, then we're giggling. He's the best finishing forward we have by a mile.

It's a bit of a weird question. I think he deserves a chance because he seems like he works hard and has the right attitude but in terms of footballing ability he just isn't good enough in my opinion. 

 

Edit - I was supposed to post this in the WAGHORN thread! I do believe Schlupp could be a good player for us and yes he deserves another chance.

Schlupp hasn't quite harnessed his potential yet. I feel he has more to give for the club despite performing so underwhelmingly in the games I've seen him play.
