A minutes applause for the owners against reading in the Twelfth minute

Are people being serious? A minutes applause?

:xmaslaugh:

They actually are.

Tributes usually reserved for the deceased now being considered for billionaires rectifying bad decisions.

I'm not sure whether it's embarrassing, insulting or just plain stupidity.

Apart from the disgusting racism on this thread there is one point that seems to be passing a lot of people on here by......

Had things stayed how they were the owners could have walked away, demanded back the money they invested and bankrupt our club.

Now with this new move they cant, they are locked in to the club and it's fortunes long term, and if they walk away it's with nothing and our club is safe.

OK you can say they created SOME of the debt, but please don't forget the club was already in more than £30 million of debt when they took over, they took on that debt and they have just swallowed that up with this deal.

To be honest I am genuinely shocked by this deal, and it's the last thing I expected. And whilst they will benefit IF we ever get to the Premier League we as fans and owners are now all invested in this ride together.

And why shouldn't they benefit if we get there? It's their money that will have achieved that.

I for one will be applauding with gusto in the 12 minute on Boxing Day.

A huge well done to our owners for showing commitment and bravery in the cause for the benefit of our club.

Now please sign Kasper, Wes, Lloyd and Nuge on new deals and make my Christmas!

To be fair mate despite the debt we were very secure from bankruptcy anyway due to the change of ownership to King Power Holdings end of last year which meant any loss would be protected against the profits of a billion pound company but its still a great move from the owners again, and quite right regarding the debt that they took over too not to mention the club also now owns the Stadium for the 1st time in our history

I might be wrong but Pompey and Chester also had the debts in the name of a holdings type company and the court still associated the debts with the football clubs and wound up one and tried to wind up the other.

What's happened this week puts us all in the same boat together for better or worse, and I hugely respect the owners for that.

There's that fooking word again. 'Cringey'. If you (and others) 'cringe' so much at the actions of your fellow supporters, I'd suggest you (and others) see a doctor about your apparent social anxiety issues. Seriously, it's bordering on full-blown personality disorder. Why can't it ever be live and let live with football fans? Why do you people criticise the lack of support and then, in the same breath, judge and mock people who are trying to do something different?

Did it ever occur to you that the threat of being called embarrassing by some nobhead, sniggering twats on their high-horse might be what's stopping many people joining in with songs or making up their own?

Calm down dear I want us to be noisy and will join in whatever chants are going, I am all for creative chants but clapping the owners for a minute seems excessive to me

Sounds like a excellent idea, hope we can do this. :scarf:  :chant:

To be fair I'm not a fan of this idea either and it isn't just you.

It just seems like no one can post an idea/suggestion on here without at least one person calling it cringey or cringeworthy.

I know your right about Portsmouth they were definately reformed into a new holding company after administration I think the problem there was though the new holding company were not worth anything either I guess!

I've paid my mortgage off if no one else is going to appreciate that I'll do it myself

To the chorus of 'One Night in Bangkok' which I think was by Mike Tyson.

Ahem...

Vishai's from Bangkok and Top is his Youngster.

The're the Thai owners of Leicester City.

The Premier League will be Leicester's golden oyster,

I don't know about you but it sounds alright to me.

Famous in the Far East then Leicester will be.

Well, they've proved they're nothing like Tan so far! The debt they racked up was in attempt to get us out of this league so can hardly have a go at them for that. They've learnt from their mistakes and their patience is paying off now. Plus, they upgrade the stadium, spend millions on the training ground/youth facilities, buy the stadium and then clear a load of debt that existed before they were here. Hardly all self-interest is it?

Yes, they're here to make money, but they're investing more financially and personally into the club to improve the long-term future. That makes it a more sell-able asset in the future but I genuinely think they care about this club.

Exactly - What English Oxide is saying is that all foreigners are evil, manipulative, money-scroungers... despite evidence to the contrary.

And we all know what that is, don't we boys and girls?

To be fair to them they have cleared the £23 million of dept from before as well as their £77 million. Am I right in thinking that £77 million includes the stadium debt they took on? I'm not sure where that comes in to it.

Still, it's a damning indictment of modern football when it's seen as a miracle that this is happening rather than the norm.

Oh, and I agree that it's probably not worthy of something usually reserved for remembering a dead person. A non-racist chant maybe.

The money they have put in has been for the good of the club, that includes us as the fans.

Yes they got the club into big debt, but lets not forget that was for our benefit as well, and now they have just sucked up that debt and taken full responsibility for it.

That kind of commitment and loyalty to our club should be recognized and applauded, and I will certainly be doing so in the 12th minute.

We are lucky to have decent owners doing the right things for our club.

You're The Top Lyrics

by Cole Porter. From De-Lovely.

At words poetic, I'm so pathetic
That I always have found it best,
Instead of getting 'em off my chest,
To let 'em rest unexpressed,
I hate parading my serenading
As I'll probably miss a bar,
But if this ditty is not so pretty
At least it'll tell you
How great you are.

You're the top!
You're the Coliseum.
You're the top!
You're the Louver Museum.
You're a melody from a symphony by Strauss
You're a Bendel bonnet,
A Shakespeare's sonnet,
You're Mickey Mouse.
You're the Nile,
You're the Tower of Pisa,
You're the smile on the Mona Lisa
I'm a worthless check, a total wreck, a flop,
But if, baby, I'm the bottom you're the top!

Your words poetic are not pathetic.
On the other hand, babe, you shine,
And I can feel after every line
A thrill divine
Down my spine.
Now gifted humans like Vincent Youmans
Might think that your song is bad,
But I got a notion
I'll second the motion
And this is what I'm going to add;

You're the top!
You're Mahatma Gandhi.
You're the top!
You're Napoleon Brandy.
You're the purple light
Of a summer night in Spain,
You're the National Gallery
You're Garbo's salary,
You're cellophane.
You're sublime,
You're turkey dinner,
You're the time, the time of a Derby winner
I'm a toy balloon that’s fated soon to pop
But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

You're the top!
You're an arrow collar
You're the top!
You're a Coolidge dollar,
You're the nimble tread
Of the feet of Fred Astaire,
You're an O'Neill drama,

You're Whistler's mama!

You're camembert.

You're a rose,
You're Inferno's Dante,

You're the nose
On the great Durante.
I'm just in a way,
As the French would say, "de trop".
But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

You're the top!
You're a dance in Bali.
You're the top!
You're a hot tamale.
You're an angel, you,
Simply too, too, too diveen,
You're a Boticcelli,
You're Keats,
You're Shelly!

You're Ovaltine!
You're a boom,
You're the dam at Boulder,
You're the moon,
Over Mae West's shoulder,
I'm the nominee of the G.O.P.

Or GOP!

But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

You're the top!
You're a Waldorf salad.
You're the top!
You're a Berlin ballad.
You're the boats that glide
On the sleepy Zuider Zee,
You're an old Dutch master,

You're Lady Astor,
You're broccoli!
You're romance,
You're the steppes of Russia,
You're the pants, on a Roxy usher,
I'm a broken doll, a fol-de-rol, a blop,

But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

This is basically my thoughts on the whole thing. Credit to them for actually doing it, I'm very glad they have done, but it just shows how seriously low standards are in football.
