A minutes applause for the owners against reading in the Twelfth minute

Some people take this place far too seriously.

Surely it'd have been better if they were there, they'd have appreciated it all a whole lot more of they were.

Er.... That the owners weren't there?!

And...

That is not a point that is a statement of fact. Are you saying we shouldn't have applauded because they weren't there?

Yes that's exactly what I've said!

See my post before yours in this thread.

Well, it's not exactly what you've said, you said it would be better if they were there, which it would have been, but seeing as they couldn't be there, and I doubt they will be there on Sunday, then we are away and there is no way of knowing when they will be there, so the best time to do it is the first home game after they cleared our debts. I presume stringer mentioned it on the radio so they will know and they will appreciate our gratitude.

I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to say thanks for what they have done for our club. It may not have been the best way to do it, but seeing as I can't thank them personally and someone took the initiative to get the ball rolling with the 12th minute applause, I was very happy to join in and say, in my small way, 'krap'.

How is that hypocritical?

But for the record the reason I didn't applaud is quite simple. I think it's ridiculous that any owner is allowed to add to a club's debt in the way ours did, they effectively put our football club in a position where our survival was completely dependent on them. Am I glad that they've paid off that debt, the vast majority of which they're responsible for? Yes. Do I think they deserve a round of applause for rectifying the situation and so far not trying to change our name or kit colour? No.

I consider not adding millions of pounds worth of debt that the club can't ever afford to pay off on its own and not doing what the likes of Tan & Allam are doing to be the bare minimum any football club owner should be doing. So no, I don't think it deserves a round of applause, or a banner, or a chant.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful but we should have never been in that position in the first place.

You called him a cretin.

As for not clapping because they shouldn't have racked debts up in the first place. Fair enough. But they took over a club in debt in the first place and have since bought the ground. It's not all their debt, is it?

They didn't have to do it but chose to because they knew that FFP would kick us up the arse. They want to take our club into the Premier League and they want to make us successful.

I'd hazard a guess that only Yeovil are making a profit in our league. Are all of the owners in this league doing the right thing in 'letting debts rack up'? Rather than ours thats gone out and rectified a problem that was self inflicted but also here long before they showed up.

Yet some can't muster up enough humility to put their hands together at a football match, I found your lack of appreciation astounding. They're comfortably the best thing to happen to our football club since Martin O'Neill. I often just have to despair with some of our fans, I really do.

Humility? :xmaslaugh:

Is giving them quite a high proportion of my disposable income every time I watch a game not enough any more then?

The amount of money the club receives in gate receipts isn't enough to fund a promotion push anymore, no.

Also if it were up to the fans we'd have probably sacked Pearson last season. They've stuck with the manager and cleared off the debt which makes the club financially stronger than when they bought it.

Wow, i'm sure some people on here argue for the sake of arguing.

You'd never do that (referee discussions)... On which subject I think we've had the rub of the green last two games.

For the minutes bumming, everyone near us thought it was for the lights coming back on!! Ha.

I must remember the next time I show appreciation to make sure my penis is firmly locked away!

But it's still possible that listened to the game via stream.

OR a club representative told them about the applause post-match.

So, they don't need to be there in order to appreciate a little gesture of thankfulness from the fans.

How much do you earn a week then? £55?

Or we could just wait until the 94th minute and clap when he has scored.

... to win by the odd goal when we did not deserve to. lol:D

Why not have a minutes round of applause in the 27th minute for Mahrez (no. 26 shirt) and Phillips (no.28 shirt)? Would be great to welcome the two of them to the club and show our backing for them?
