Merging Cultures Posted 26 December 2013 Posted 26 December 2013 This is a weak argument given that it could be argued a minutes silence, a time to pause and reflect on the lives and achievements of others, has been devalued by a minutes clap. One might also say that a minutes clap at the beginning of a game is still a period when nothing else is happening, whereas this clap is intended to be done during the game when people are hopefully already clapping and singing etc. So because you believe the minutes silence has been devalued, you think its ok to do the same with this tribute. And you thought I had a weak argument. No, I said it isn't the same. One is done at the beginning of the game (even if it is a devalued tribute) when nothing else is happening still giving the opportunity to reflect (if possible). While the other will be done during the game when people will be singing and clapping already. Thereby improving the atmosphere. I see it as quite different. And I am quite disappointed that because of some idiots we've lost the ability to do a minutes silence. It is a sad testament to today's society that people can't be quite for one minute.

No denying the owners are not here for altruistic reasons. Football is a business. But as been said already, this is the first time we have been debt free for decades, regardless of the size or who racked up the debt. This makes the club much stronger financially and will only contribute towards success in the future. Regardless of what the Thais plan to do with their equity. This should be appreciated by the fans. Easiest way to do it is through applause. From what I've read Sam Bailey got a decent applause the other week. Embarrassing if we can't do the same for the owners.

He will see this a sanuk if it happens and Mai pen rai if it doesn't. You could always just wave and shout 'Krap' and he will be happy. No, but even if they did they'd still be leaving the club in a better state than how they found it. Our owners have the monopoly for duty free shops in Thailand I don't see how increasing their brand awareness will give them more of a monopoly or people in Thai airports will want to spend on duty free because of their association with Leicester City. None of the theories in this thread about the motives for the owners at our club hold any water for me. I'm prepared to take their actions at face value and say that they want to own a successful football club and are prepared to spend their own money to achieve that. For that I'm extremely grateful and if I was there I'd gladly clap.

Debt is a much more secure investment.

I for one will be applauding, mainly because I think it's good to show support for what they are trying to achieve. Whilst I'm sure this is just a business plan, yet should it come off everyone will be happy. They recoup money, we'll be a successful club, debt free, playing in the Prem. Whilst we'll never compete with the big boys (unless we get new investment on a Man. City scale) I'd be happy if we could become as successful some of the mid table teams. If Stoke can stay in the Prem year after year, then we should be able to eclipse this, surely!

Our owners are proving to be pretty good as owners go and they're easing a lot of fears. But the critics are still right, all they're currently doing is fixing their own mess to help secure FFP. We're going to applaud that fanatically? To put in to context, last time a club did a fixed applause on a set minute of the game was it not when a Leeds club legend died tragically young in a highly emotional suicide that shocked football? I'd rather clap people for pumping money in to leicester, paying off the debt, a chunk of which wasn't theirs than clap someone for ending his life when he had kids, but that might just be me.

Until hard evidence proves they have bad motives towards the club I'll back them 100% and happily applaud them in the twelfth minute. Maybe, just maybe, they love sports and want to enjoy the satisfaction of building something for the long term. I'm 100% certain that this is not an advertising campaign for King Power because for 100 million that's pretty rubbish value, even in the prem...

I dont agree with Finnegan. Applause can be to simply say thank you to the owners for putting our great club back on the map. It doesn't have to be saved solely for the recognition of tragedies or for some historical event. Well said Col
