Dyer would ruin Savage at right back.

Wasn't Sinclair a RB and Sav a CM?

Would be an interesting game thats for sure. One advantage for todays crop is footballers are generally more athletic.

I'd go 2-2

Muzzy and Collymore

Knockaert and Vardy

That's an interesting one but can't see past a comfortable win for the old guard. But ask the question in a year or two and if the NP team remains largely intact I think it would be a much closer game!

Incidentally, the O'neill team is the one that beat sunderland 5-2, and the pearson team is the one that played on sunday.

Vardy & Nugent would get kicked all gane by Elliott & Taggart. A young Heskey would tear Moore & Morgan a new one.

I'd say the old guard would win 3-1.

Heskey would never tear Morgan and Moore a new one. For such a big build, Heskey was one of the weakest and most lightweight players I ever saw. A player like Morgan was exactly the type of player he was rather useless against.

That's absolute nonsense. You are confusing going to ground easily as weak. One is a tactic he wasn't very good at the other was a lack of strength.

Remember heskey getting into a scuffle on the pitch once were he pushed someone away. Was funny seeing them fall down and their rear skidding along the grass....

Eadie would be out injured.  Drinky would shoot and the ball bounce over a kneeling Flowers. Izzet would score with an overhead from outside the box. Heskey would miss 3 headers and Savage run round like a headless chicken. Taggart and Elliot seem to have swapped places. Sinclair to score two OG/s and Collymore a hatrick.  That makes it 4-3 to the Proven Prem side.

The gulf in class is massive, most of the old guard were decent internationals, the midfield was maybe the best we have ha possibly ever and collymore was one of the best players to grace the premiership.

I think the players of today, even 10 years on, are technically better, faster, fitter etc so I can see the new team winning... I think any player from the 60's or around that time would struggle nowadays because football has improved so so much recently

The old guard win that one comfortably. That side put in one of the best performances I've ever seen from a city side and they were just below the top 4 at the time in the pl.

3-0 old guard.

Forget Dyer, Heskey's pace would cause problems all day.

Heskey was certainly nowhere near as quick as Dyer. Dyer is one of the quickest players I have ever seen, for any side. Joachim and Lineker were quick as well, but I think Dyer may be even quicker.

The desire and drive from the old guard would disrupt the new lots pretty passing, they would have no time on the ball and be driven backwards, Dyer and Vardy's pace would cause problems but they wouldn't get the service, NP would bring on GTF and revert to long ball, MON would bring on Kaamark to sit on Knocky if he is causing too many problems. Old guard would destroy Moore and Morgan in the air and score a couple from corners and set pieces, Collymore and Heskey were so good in that Sunderland game they would easily create chances with Muzzy pulling the strings, while Lennon just sits in front of the back four, NP's team to score first, after Dyer does Savage up like a kipper, Eliott header from a corner, Collymore 2 (one header one screamer) Heskey with a late burst through to slot past Kasper. 4-1
