Guest Col city fan Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Hand on heart (cos its what I think)... Yes I think Pearson would be kept. It would seem bizarre to instantly part with the man who has just got you promoted. Then... I think Pearson may struggle. I think he's possibly too rigid, doesnt embrace conflict and 'big personalities' and tactically may be a little outdated to bring success at the higher level. I could be miles off, but I get this feeling. Cue hostility...
Bagworthblue Posted 6 January 2014 Author Posted 6 January 2014 Are target next season would be survival and happily take a 17th finish, stick with pearson unless say we lose six out of our first six. I agree we should keep him and have always wanted to keep him. My fear.... devils advocate. Why give him a contract and then sack him after a few games when you can lose him for free at the end of the season in favour of a proven prem manager?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 No. I think he'll be gone regardless in the summer. Probably along with my season ticket
AnotherShitSeason Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 "No" as in you wouldn't want him to be retained? or "No" as in you think he wouldn't be retained? There is a difference between the both, and there is a difference in my reply. No I don't believe he will be retained. That was the question, right? Ps. Don't bother with a reply. It's fine.

Also think the board may act as a normal business and appoint the 'right' manager for the right market (in their minds)
Harry - LCFC Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 No I don't believe he will be retained. That was the question, right? Ps. Don't bother with a reply. It's fine. I imagine you could get good odds for that

Cue hostility... that's good, because I don't think I would fancy supporting a team with £6 million pound "big personalities" who are just about good enough for the bottom half of the premier league.
cjslcfc Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I think he should be and will be. Would be interesting to see how he fares though
RowlattsFox Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 I must admit I am worried this May happen, I hope not but it wouldn't surprise me.
Danizen Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 We've already seen this scenario play out with Southampton so the temptation will be there for the owners. If they did bring a new man in, it could propel us to the top ten but more likely it will be an unmitigated disaster.
Guest MattP Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Nothing would surprise me in football anymore but it would be bizarre to stick with him after last year then get rid after getting us up.
Monsell1976 Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Let's get promoted first, worry about the rest in the summer.

Bryn Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Truth be told this thought has occurred to me too. I want Pearson to stay and on balance I think they will stick with him, but the thought floated across my mind. Same with the players really, even the likes of Morgan.
MooseBreath Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Even the nutjob owners giver their managers a bit of a chance in the prem first. If we get promoted he'll be offered a new contract. I'd bet my penis on that.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 As some have said, it would be bizarre to get rid of a successful manager. Can't think of any other team that have got rid of a manager who has just got them promoted.

Key is Pearson wouldn't need to be sacked, just not retained
foxfanazer Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 And Warnock \ whatshisface err Soton boss and look at what has happened at Cardiff. Key is Pearson wouldn't need to be sacked, just not retainedAh it was Warnock I was thinking of
Fox92 Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 No I don't believe he will be retained. That was the question, right? Ps. Don't bother with a reply. It's fine. Yes, that was the question. I just wanted to know whether you wanted or thought. I'm not going to throw abuse at you for saying you don't think he'll be retained, where as I would have if would have said he should not be retained!
Monsell1976 Posted 6 January 2014 Posted 6 January 2014 Let's get promoted first, worry about the rest in the summer.[/quote but per my post, might the scenario potentially prevent promotion? Doesn't seem to have affected the first half of the season
