How many is too many

Is anyone else a little concerned we might ruin some of the good squad feeling at present with too many signings?

All the players and staff go on about how close the squad is and how the dynamic is just right, but adding a few players can sometimes be enough to tip the scales.

They always say it only takes one bad egg to ruin a dressing room. Mahrez for me isn't a problem as we currently don't have any out and out wingers to challenge for a place.

However, all this talk of a new striker is surely a bit worrying, Wood will not be happy on the bench as it is, GTF has come in to be that bench player, so how will they react If we bring a new striker in? Is it actually necessary?

I'd personally like us to be finished in the window after Mahrez.

In terms of the striker, I'd welcome Kevin Phillips. I think we'd benefit on and off the pitch. Not only has he still got the ability to score goals, but he is a very good professional and would add vital experience to the dressing room. He's the type of player the young players, and even the likes of Vardy, would learn from.

Agree fully. Amazed after the experiences we've had in the past few years that people still think signings/spending automatically improves things.

Pearson has always said that he will only add to the squad if they are as good or better than current players. Therefore, if new players are brought it will add to competition. I feel you need 4 frontline strikers that are good enough at this level. At present I think we have 3. Nugent, Wood and Vardy. Add GTF as a bit of an all rounder, I think there is the need for one more striker.

I'd be amazed if we signed more than 2-3 players and if we do then I reckon the likes of Waghorn, St Ledger and Schlupp could be off on loan. Bakayogo and Hopper have been on the bench this season to fill up spaces with no real intention of using them so bringing 2-3 more in won't effect the matchday squads too much in terms of first team players.

Our strikers haven't scored many goals, so we're not looking for strikers for no reason.

Players should be expecting new signings in the transfer window, that's what it's for. If they can't handle new faces they won't make it at any club.

We don't need wholesale changes but our bench isn't that strong and we could do with it being strengthened.

Remember how we fell apart with a small squad last season? We didn't have anyone to push our first teamers (except shit players like Kane) and that's part of the reason we struggled to get out of our rut.

Since we have not actually signed anyone yet that I know of and the management know what they want, bit of a redundant question at present :)

I agree with this but if we are going to bring in players then we would need to get rid of some players. We may have a settled squad but it is also a squad with weaknesses (not enough wingers and once all players get tired then we are screwed) so it is essential that we look to correct this.

I do not agree with not signing any players but just one or two ( a winger and someone to cover if we sell any players) will be enough. We definitely do not need a striker especially after when Wood come back from an injury.

Still say Wood, Nugent and Vardy is not enough. 4 quality strikers with different attributes will get you promoted. Schlupp and Waghorn have had enough chances to push on and at present aren't going to change a game, unlike Phillips.

if its quality strikers you are after, then we don't have any at all.

That's utter crap. Wood is an established international at 21/2, vardy is flying this year and nugent is capable of playing in the premiership if he applies himself. GTF is a good squad player too

Our strikers haven't scored many goals, so we're not looking for strikers for no reason.

Precisely why I think we should sign a quality striker with age on his side who we can have as an asset for longer than 6 months without needing to change again. For all Phillips was raved about at palace last year he scored four in half a year (inc play off final penalty) a year on from then aged 40 I'm not sure he's our guy. We'd be better spending a fair amount of cash on a player who can score goals for years to come and is good enough to play on both levels (as starter and a sub) we are realistically could be playing on (prem and championship). KP is no that guy anymore imo.

Where would the money come from for a quality striker with age on his side? Surely a transfer fee of at least 2 million would be required for a player like that, plus loads of other clubs are looking for that type of player. I can see why teams chasing promotion are looking at Kevin Phillips, sign him for 5 months, you hopefully get up, let him go and then get your quality striker with age on his side when you know you have the money up in the Prem.

I tend to agree with the OS, haveing built a good squad ANY player coming in needs to earn his place and the respect of the current players. The situation may be eased by loaning out players, but if not, with Wood fit who moves over ? I don't see the point in not using Janko, if signed, but would not expect him to walk straight in. Of the other signings being talked about I really am not conceived that they we be able to offer enough for a while.

Not necessarily. I'm not talking like buying in a Danny Ings, Ross McCormack or a Troy Deeney. A solid championship player can be found for 500k-£1mil and we need to utilise or good position in the league and prospects of premier league football to our advantage. We are top and four points clear at that - now is the time to buy that extra quality to see us over the line(if that what's NP believes we need which media reports suggest he does) just as Cardiff did with Campbell and he's their top scorer in the PL. Also if we were to turn to a foreign import, like janko or preferably djordevic, which is even more likely should we go up, then the extra 6 months gives him time to settle in etc whilst he can still contribute to the team. I'm not saying KP is not going to score goals/ be a success nor would I be overly disappointed if he arrived but I think with him at 40 and us in a strong position we can do better.

Other than this I agree with the OP. I think with the winger void seemingly filled by Mahrez (needed doing) and the potential striker coming in then 2 is enough. Defensively and centre mid I'd say we are looking strong - departures depending obviously.

I agree, the squad wouldn't be top if it wasn't good enough. Mahrez coming in helps where we are short on the wings. People crying out to sign deadwood like Kevin Philips amuse me.

Old he may be but Kevin Phillips is the definition of a natural goal scorer
