Lineker's Left Foot Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Luton Shelton Ritchie Humphreys Jamie Moralee
Tielemans63 Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Noel Whelan should have had a great career. I have no idea how he wasted his talent. All I know is that he suffered a lot of nose bleeds and his team mates nicknamed him 'Snowy'.
deejdeej Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Alexandre Pato, okay he's a good player but could have been great, back in Brazil now I think. Anybody listen to 5live world football phone in? Really informative and often has features like this thread topic.
Narborough_fox Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Freddy Adu is a good shout. Jonjo Shelvey was raved about quite a lot a few years back if I remember correctly Shelvey is a little harsh, never really kicked on at Liverpool, granted, but he's starting to come into his own at Swansea and should probably be in the England team ahead of Cleverley.
foxfanazer Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Not saying he's a bad player, I like him but he was bigged up massively when at Charlton Robinho?
Langston Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Ryan Babel could've been the business but didn't seem to be well managed by Benitez at Liverpool, unfortunately.
The Blur Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Daily Mail predicted this to be future England team back in 2007 Where they are at now Amos-Man Utd Hutchinson-Chelsea Richards-Man City Hoyte- Dag and Red Threlfall-Morecambe Parrett-Stevenage Johnson-Weight Watchers FC Henry-Wolves Walcott-Arsenal Baxter-Oldham Sinclair-WBA The biggest shock got be Amos is still at Man Utd!
Langston Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Daily Mail predicted this to be future England team back in 2007 It's amazing when you look at a side like that just how many have struggled both mentally and physically. Hutchinson, Richards and Johnson always spent more time on the physio's bench than on the field, and the latter coupled with Jose Baxter didn't really seem to adapt to / cope with the sudden attention and prying they were subjected to at all well. Does make you wonder how well we look after young pros in this country when they make the step up to the professional game, though the aggressive and intrusive nature of our media never seems to help anything.
Benji Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Freddie Sears or whatever his name is - might be harsh as I suspect he's still young but didn't he score a goal and become the next [insert England great].
Amin Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Fabio was always meant to be the better da Silva brother, even Rafael thought so.
bluesbrothers Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Ishmael Miller Bet Derby would love him right now! What about the one and only Ali Dia?
fazzyfox Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 I remember a lot of people who had watched or played against him at youth level rated Jason Peake as being potentially very special. He had a solid lower league career in the end but a lot more was predicted. For Forest I remember Phil Starbuck used to score 3 or 4 goals a game at youth and reserve level and people were rubbing their hands in anticipation but at senior level he was nicknamed Bambi as he just couldn't handle the physical side and was always on the deck or in mid-air being knocked off the ball.
Donut Posted 28 January 2014 Posted 28 January 2014 Fabio Rochembeck, ex barca, came to the premiership, never heard of again
