Scouting of Players

his signature at the side of his posts use to say head scout, have I read to much into that?

Absolutely not, who on Earth would lie in their member title?

Feel free to shoot me down, but I'd imagine the Chelsea will want mr bamford to get some premiership football as he has shown he can do it in the championship, and I assume they won't want to risk a title challenge on him scoring the goals.

Might be worth a season long loan here.

If Burnley do not get promoted there will be a number of clubs looking at Ings. I believe that his goal scoring and his work ethic would definitely put him on Nigel's potential wish list for the Prem next season.

Yup, would definitely have him on my list. Looks like the sort who would fit in here.

I agree. His work rate is immense and he can finish. He seems a good lad.

Ings would be a gamble not worth taking, this is the only season he has been prolific, if we had to take a gamble on a striker at championship level Jordan Rhodes is your man.

Hardly surprising the see we are interested in Aaron Cresswell, he is an obvious choice for left-back if we get promoted.

Depends on what Blackburn and Burnley would want money wise. Ings is only 21.... and Rhodes was utter crud when we played them.

Rhodes was awful.. But he's consistently scored lots of goals in a pretty average Blackburn side. I'm not sure he's Prem quality though? I'd rather have Ings

Steve Walsh will have plenty of time to get some scouting in.  This is the benefit of doing well.  I trust his judgement loads. Drinkwater is my player of the season closely followed by Jamie Vardy.

Nigel will be over in Brazil and no doubt relaxing in the rainforest and along the Amazon dealing with any unruly dangerous animals !

As long as he doesn't get lost there in the summer and is able to return soundly and safely!!!

All I know, is that IF we get up and IF we get money to spend, I can't wait to see what Steve Walsh and Pearson can do with it.

I've said this in another thread, but the transfer window should we get promoted is going to be crucial, NP and Walsh have never had the sort of money to spend that could be available to us if we get promoted, and the freedom to pursue any target rather than be limited by budget and availability and have to pick up kids, veterans and out of contract, they also don't tend to go for massive rebuilding of a squad.

I also feel that NP will want to test this team he's built and back them to be able to compete in the Prem, rather than ring the changes. So many teams have fvcked up in the transfer window, with costly mistakes, in financial and footballing terms... but first thing is first getting promoted.

Much rather have Ings than Rhodes, think Ings would be more suited to our style of play aswell.

You say this is the only season he has been prolific, he is only 21.

Wouldn't be able to tell you myself but I'm sure they'll have had targets in mind for every scenario. But that's just an educated guess.

Having read the book the Nothing Men about scouts, this is certainly the case. Clubs have lists and lists for every position. I think one club I can't remember who had five players for each position pending on their scenario.

It's incredible how detailed and how far it all extends. City won't be alone, lots of other clubs in the Championship will be doing the same. They will be scanning through lists of out of contract players and contacting agents to see if the move fits.

Really good book about scouts actually. Nige gets slagged off in fact. Absolutely no sentiment or money in being a scout.

Why does Nige get slagged off?
