davieG Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 That's the Merc head line and he's talking hardnose about agents. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/going-stop-ndash-Leicester-City-boss-Nigel/story-20548517-detail/story.html
indierich06 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I was about to say, I can absolutely guarantee that is not what Pearson said at all. Great work again, Mercury!
suffolk fox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Isn't that a song? Maybe he is joining in with the give journalists a song title thread?
Thracian Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Didn't get to read this because of intrusive Landrover advert. There's nothing more guaranteed to put me off buying something than this sort of bad manners.- another example of the sort of crap forced on us by American culture, or lack of it.
DanTheMan Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 To echo others - I love how not only is the headline misleading, as far as I can tell from reading the article, it's a downright lie as he doesn't say even a variant of that phrase (an example of which was the other day when I think it was De Laet or Moore said "I wouldn't say we are unstoppable..." and the Merc repurposed that into a headline of "We are Unstoppable")
Mark_w Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 And tucked away at the bottom of the article... "But there is an awful long way to go and I am not going to get drawn into all that excitement and getting ahead of ourselves. "

There's nothing more guaranteed to put me off buying something than this sort of bad manners.- another example of the sort of crap forced on us by American culture, or lack of it. It's not so much "American" as it is a newspaper desperately trying to keep themselves alive by shoving intrusive adverts on their website. Not much different to the mercury that now resembles a free newspaper with all the adverts in it.
turkish14 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Love how the mercury take extracts from the post match interview, and make out that it's their exclusive. Wasn't it RDL the player the bbc interviewed post match? Let's see what's in the mercury tomorrow....
Fox92 Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 It's what the media do. Misleading headings to get you to read the article, which we've all done! ... We all know Nige wouldn't say anything like that at this stage of the season. There's plenty of games to go yet and I'm pleased he knows it.

There's nothing more guaranteed to put me off buying something than this sort of bad manners.- another example of the sort of crap forced on us by American culture, or lack of it. The website is more or less unreadable now because of all the shit they put on there - not that the content is ever anything to write home about either. The Mercury has gone well down the pan over the last few years and it's now dying a slow, painful death.

Simi Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 Disgraceful from the Mercury. How can they run that headline despite the quotes pretty much saying the opposite? Yet they along with the BBC wonder why Pearson gives them the cold shoulder when they interview him?
Corky Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 No wonder Pearson gets fed up with the media, the headline stands out and will be picked upon by rival clubs and supporters yet he's said nothing of the sort. Sort it out at the Mercury or Pearson might be less than welcoming in future.
Soar Fox Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 So - who is the clown? If I was to guess I'd say Schluup's agent.
StanSP Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 If I was to guess I'd say Schluup's agent. Or Schmeichel's. He probably has the best chance of most money, and when Pearson said there's been no concrete communication from AC Milan/Man Utd, I'm more inclined to believe him than any agent.

He probably has the best chance of most money, and when Pearson said there's been no concrete communication from AC Milan/Man Utd, I'm more inclined to believe him than any agent. Would Schmeichel's agent need to try and get a move in this window for him? Surely if he let his contract run down until the summer they'd get a bigger wage and signing on fee as a team won't have to pay for him.

Surely if he let his contract run down until the summer they'd get a bigger wage and signing on fee as a team won't have to pay for him. If there's transfer fees involved, the agent would get some of that, too. Which is why something like £4m was bandied around in the week leading up to deadline day. The agent would get a sizeable chunk, I'd say.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 The Mockery at it's best! What NP feels and believes were clearly quoted at the bottom of the article.

I doubt any team would pay £4 million for a championship goalkeeper with 5/6 months remaining on his contract. I'm not saying your wrong and I'm right, I was just thinking with Swansea's apparent bid for Schluup and him not getting much game time it would be more likely.
MC Prussian Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 I was about to say, I can absolutely guarantee that is not what Pearson said at all. Great work again, Mercury! Just what I was about to post. How does the Mercury keep getting away with it? That's actually misleading the public by printing false headlines. The actual article is about something completely else as opposed to what the title is insinuating.
Dan Posted 4 February 2014 Posted 4 February 2014 And people have previously claimed Pearson's the problem? His article in the Telegraph over the weekend proves where the problem lies. That was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
