Jakemoore Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 Always scores screamers on FIFA just saying..
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 What's so funny?? I was just trying to be polite, question is, in relation to our position in english football, how do our academy players fair, eg interms of £ or players in first team are we the 21st best tema!! Sorry mate, it was meant to be a thumbs-up..
Dr The Singh Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 Sorry mate, it was meant to be a thumbs-up.. Mine was meant to be a kiss that led to a shag, so no offence taken!!
GingerrrFox Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 They do set themselves up though, if you start driving around in 80k cars after getting a Sventract dont be surprised if you cop some if you dont turn out as good as some. When Coalville beat them 3-1 in the summer their players were laughing and taking the piss as all the young City lads got into their beamers etc shouting shit like "thats being repossesed in a few years lads" And lets be honest they are probably right, what on earth are these lads going to do when they get to 35/40 and have become accustomed to a lifestyle they never earnt, I worry for a lot of them. Depression and suicide is a big thing in ex pros and I fear it will get to horrific levels in the future. These days there are companies who literally give away Audi's/BMW's/Mercs etc to footballers. The cars are all on finance and the rates they pay are ridiculous in comparison to what a non-footballer would pay. They specifically target this market to gain exposure. Also you would be surprised at the salary the majority of our U21 squad is on, some of the figures that are talked about are ridiculous and way off the mark. We aren't Chelsea, we aren't handing out £35,000 a week contracts to the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah to go out on loan. People need to cut them some slack. If you can afford an Audi at 21, why shouldn't you have an Audi at 21? In case some people who are jealous of your talent and financial status get the huff and start slagging you off? At the end of the day some of these lads will make it and some of them won't. What happens if Taft turns out to be a 1st team centre back in a few years? I'm sure half of you won't give him the respect he would be due, whereas if he doesn't make it and plays lower league football you will no doubt go on about it and slag him off. Even if he ends up playing League 2 football for the rest of his career, he would still be in a position that many wish they were in.

It might not get as many people as angry as the "Footballers earn 250x what nurses earn" argument, but there will only be so many punditry and management jobs available in 20 years time. Would it be sufficient to 'educate' young players about their finances?
wight88 Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 Cain snubbed me at the training ground a few months ago. All I wanted was a word, a photograph to keep.
Stadt Posted 14 February 2014 Posted 14 February 2014 I'm saying that Nigel obviously doesn't rate him very highly, if he was good enough he would have been involved in the match day squads by now. Schlupp and Moore are involved and they're only slightly older. Pearson hasn't decided that he's not going to play him just because he's a youth teamer.

Even if he ends up playing League 2 football for the rest of his career, he would still be in a position that many wish they were in. Because most of them have done absolutely nothing to deserve it in the scheme of football. Which is why many around the game are calling for a cap on wages for youth team players under 21, and it tends to be something I agree with. No problem with young players being paid a decent amount if they have played some first team football at a decent level, but for 19 year olds who have only ever played in front of 300 people in the reserves to be almost set financially for the next 10 years of their life is wrong.
leicesterisme Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 It's funny that a lot of people slag off players like George Taft when in reality they are good young footballers. Sure they aren't on the level of the likes of Chalobah, Eric Dier etc etc but in the same instance Danny Drinkwater isn't as good as Steven Gerrard. They are at different levels of footballing ability hence why some are talked about as potential England internationals and players like Taft and Cain will in most likelihood end up being solid Championship/Lower level Premiership players. Have you actually watched George Taft play? He will never play Premier League football.

George Taft a premier league player lol . I'll post on this thread again in 5 years when he's fixing boilers and going to collect his £35 a week from Barrow Town.
Webbo Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Cain snubbed me at the training ground a few months ago. All I wanted was a word, a photograph to keep. That sounds like utter madness.
Ric Flair Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Pepe-Ngoma in the U18's is the one they're all talking about at the minute and obviously Layton Ndukwu whose only just turned 15 and has pretty much every club in the country chasing him. Paul Merson told me Arsenal are desperate to get him but we won't play silly beggars with anyone.
CosbehFox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 What;s your point? Cardiff beat Man City. One off game. They are having a decent season but the French league is pretty damn poor isn't it? Watched them once or twice but certainly nothing special and I certainly wouldn't be shitting myself if we had to play them given even average Premier League sides record against the best French sides in Europe over the last few years. That Hamouma is quality in midfield and I know they signed Brandao who is a good player. Maxi has hardly played this year anyway. He hasn't played because he was recovering from an ACL.
JonnyBoy Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 How much are these youth players on? Even if it's 500 quid, that's 24k a year and very good for an 18yr old
Guest MattP Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 Taft a future lower end Prem player lol he was out of his depth at York. He hasn't played because he was recovering from an ACL. He has been oj the bench for ages.

CosbehFox Posted 15 February 2014 Posted 15 February 2014 He has been oj the bench for ages. Since returning from an ACL and return to a squad placed 4th hence he's found it difficult to regain his spot. Still popped with a couple of cameos and bagged. He was indifferent here. I never believed the hype here and then at Leeds. I had no problem with him leaving and Pearson's decision. However, he's made a good success of his career.
ramadaone Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Mr Cain does it again down here in the smoke
johnny the fox Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Mr Cain does it again down here in the smoke Great result for the under 21's , beating table topping fulham away..

weller7 Posted 17 February 2014 Posted 17 February 2014 Blimey there are some numptys on this foxestalk Fulham put out a very strong side tonight with the likes of Larnell Cole Ryan Tunnicliffe Matthew Briggs etc etc plus Taft marking Greece international Kostas Mitroglou completely out the game just how many of these games do the likes of buzzer B go too ????? Both looked excellent tonight against good opposition & 2 leicester goals coming from players Cain & Taft this evening .

If they shown any signs of unique talent then they would be knocking on the door here with us. Look at Schlupp and Moore. They've obviously improved to make our first team. Plus your going off one good game at youth level. If they performed well at a consistent level they would be in the first team. They would do well to be Championship level, wouldn't go as far as to say Premier league level.
