QPR to start a run, Harry can still haunt us..

Wigan will get in the play offs

I agree, Wigan have recovered so magnificently and majestically, from the deep blue waters of a manager sacking.

OP and QPR optimists are correct in that QPR will recover and we will see their fate in the playoffs. Injuries have destroyed their season's momentum. They go through cycles of over achieving and under achieving. They needed a younger squad, too much experience and a high average age can leave a squad injury prone.

You lot are being very harsh, he's a done fantastic job this season, they were nailed on for relegation at the start with all the high earners and no transfer money to spend.

To have them as high as 4th is some achievement. Proper rags to riches tale.

Via TB, via a Derby fan on another forum....

"If you recall, McClaren was head coach at QPR for their first 9 games of the season while 'Arry convalesced following his summer operation.

QPR first 9 games:
P9 W7 D2 L0 F10 A2 PTS23 PPG2.56

QPR record since McClaren has left:
P22 W9 D6 L7 F27 A23 PTS33 PPG1.5

Meanwhile, at the iPride, here we have Clough's record for the first 9 games:
P9 W3 D2 L4 F14 A13 PTS11 PPG1.22

Then we had the interregnum of Derby 4, Ipswich 4

Then McClaren's record at Derby is:
P22 W15 D4 L3 F42 A23 PTS49 PPG2.23

QPR's strength is their defence and he had it at maximum, generally winning games 1-0. Our strength is our attack, so he has us winning games 2-1."

lol lol

No one has anything to fear while old Arry is still there, QPR are only going to continue to slide with him in charge.

The above is very interesting reading, if Bagpuss is there all season they are probably midtable now, they will be clinging onto their play off place for dear life very soon.

QPR and Forest to drop out of the top 6? Only need one team below Wigan to get their shit together for it to happen.

As Wigan are top six atm you would need 2 below them to push florist and qpr out.

Or are my maths wrong?

I reckon Bolton will make that late push and go unbeaten for the rest of the season making the play-offs.

They've just battered an in form Blackburn side and look like they've got there shit together.

 Really?!

They'd have to overtake 12 teams and overhaul a 16 point (plus goal difference) deficit.

Yeah but they did just win a game.

Blackburn aren't exactly 'in form'.

I still believe in 'arry' . I believe they will have a strong finish, but I 'strongly' believe that Burnley and city are in a Position that they wont be caught, though 13 games left, is still a longway to the finish line. (Nearly 1/3 ots).

Burnley with no major injuries, will bring it home.3 major injuries sometime in the next 4 games, god forbid, could be interesting.

City with their squad could take 2-3 injuries.I dont see either Burnley or city dropping that many points.

In fact for me, now I only see 3 interesting themes,

who gets the next 4 positions up for grabs

Can Wigan go on a run like Burnleys and Citys past 13 games.

After losing to Wigan will Forest fall off and struggle for top 6, with reading n brighton hanging around.

Watford and Blackburn are out of it even though they still could upset teams above them.

Bolton? !

They might not make it if they win every game.

You might as well say Yeovil have got a chance if you're talking up Bolton.

Brighton and Reading the only two sides outside the top 6 who could make it IMO. This "late push" stuff is all rubbish anyway. Who made a late push last year? Brighton? Well they were top 8 or 9 most of the season anyway. Bolton had a great run but didn't make it. Perhaps it happens once every 4 or 5 years that a side which has been outside the top 10 all season makes a late push in the last 10-15 games to get in the play offs.

But people are right when they say that one team always goes on a great run. The difference is this year that the side which went on a great run had already been in the top 3 all season.

Edit: I actually tried out my theory on the last 5 seasons:

2012/13 play-offs (position after 33 games in brackets):

Watford (3rd)

Brighton (7th)

Palace (4th)

Leicester (5th)

2011/12

West Ham (1st)

Birmingham (3rd)

Blackpool (8th)

Cardiff (7th)

2010/11

Swansea (2nd)

Cardiff (4th)

Reading (10th)

Forest (3rd)

2009/10

Forest (3rd)

Cardiff (5th)

Leicester (6th)

Blackpool (8th)

2008/09

Sheffield United (6th)

Reading (2nd)

Burnley (7th)

Preston (5th)

So in the last 5 years only one side which was outside the top 8 after 33 games has made the play-offs and that Reading side took 30 points from their last 13 games to do it. Can you really see anybody doing that this season?

Good point....And no, not any longer.... Wigan have just started.

Plus I think you may find the top 4-7 and then the top 3 probably collecting more points than ever.

We could see from this top group from now on go unbeaten, or only lose 1 more game even though teams still

Have to play each other.

Its not hard to believe that 3-4 teams all could get above 90 points.

I believe that this season you have a top 5 of good football playing teams.

I see City, Burnley, Derby are a cut above the rest, Wigan dark horses, and QPR could still get back on track.

That said still a big gap in difference between

bottom 5 of Premier league.
