Trav Le Bleu Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 It's my my Wife and I's 20th anniversary later this year and we're having a party in a hall and I'm looking at doing a few comedy sketches for entertainment. In the past we've done the 4 Yorkshiremen (Monty Python) and a mishmash of the Two Ronnies newsreading, but looking to do something a bit different (especially as the Two Ronnies one has been trotted out at a few does I've been to over the years and is getting very ) Obviously there's a huge selection of comedy sketches and I'm struggling to pick one or two, and also got to keep in mind that it will be a family do, so nothing too rude either. So basically, any suggestions? Would especially like to hear from anyone who has done anything similar. Personally I'd love to do a toned down version of History Today (from Mary Whitehouse) but the others who would be involved in this think that a lot of people wouldn't get it, which I think might be sadly true.
LanguedocFox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 This is a rave from the grave, but it is quite funny if done well. Do a recitation of "The green eye of the Little Yellow God", usually with two people - can do it with one, but it's funnier with two - with one doing the hand actions, the other the words. Was an old Des O'connor sketch - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLg-DB-q65k. I've done it a few times, and it's better if you do the whole poem: lots of opportunities for ad libbing etc, which can be fun. Anyway, hope that helps.
RobHawk Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Ithis is a great modern take on the 2 ronnies fork handles sketch!

Trav Le Bleu Posted 11 March 2014 Author Posted 11 March 2014 Would you be doing it word for word or are you writing your own versions? There might be some tweeking here and there to give stuff and more relative and personal feel Would love to do Who's On First, but so complex!
Rincewind Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Secret policemans Ball? When we started raDNO we had a sketch spot in the form of a take off of the Archers written by one of our presenters. Not sure how it would come across on the stage but it would be different and original.
