Poznan - time to stop?

Recommended Posts

The Poznan needs to be stopped because the movement in the stand scares the hell out of me. I know stadiums are designed to be flexible and the movement is good a thing but BLOODY HELL it puts me through the ringer...

Posted

Sat in the Kop for a change on Saturday and became aware of how the Poznan gets the whole ground up and moving after a goal.

Looked grand to be fair.

But...I suppose some Nazi will want people to stop doing it because he only wants people to sing songs he likes, say things he agrees with and not to jump around and have fun in any way that doesn't suit him.

In fact...to drop a bombshell before leaving for a day on a motorcycle...

Filbert Street is DEAD !!

Franky Wortho is OLD !!

There have been SONGS written since the 60s !!

People like to JUMP AROUND !!

Now I'm a crusty old git but at least I can roll with the changes.  And some of the Nazis don't even have the excuse of being old.

Thought it looked small scale on telly last night, which is a shame. I always join in when I'm there and it's a laugh. I don't give a feck what other teams think of us and our songs and celebrations. If you don't like them then don't join in. Personally I love the oooohhhhhh twat, you're shit ahhhhhhhhhhh at the goalie, I find it funny.

I thought it looked quite good yesterday! Do what you want when we score but don't criticise others for doing what they want to do.

For me it's not fake, that whole goal scoring routine was created by the fans.

‎

Turn this thread 180 ‎degrees and let's have that WHOLE ground doing it the point we are mathematically promoted!

I don't like it personally because of the fact Man City have already adopted it. But at the end of the day it's only a celebration. Who cares what people think. No doubt we will get slated by Man City fans for 'copying' it but they can talk.

Posted

Interesting you should say that. I think that celebrations should be a bit more spontaneous and reflect the joy of the moment.

The poznan is very staged and sterile, that's why I don't like it. It's just very fake.

that's like saying cheering is very staged and sterile, you can learn how to react you know, it's not hard wired from birth.

The one thing we need to stop as no one in the top flight has done for over a decade is the Woooooooooooo, twat, you're shit ahhhhh.

That does make us very tin pot and lower league.

Disagree there, it's one if my favourite things that we do. At least it's unique to us and when the crowd gets going it can sound class and can genuinely affect the keepers (albeit rarely). I still believe it helped us win at QPR a few years back. If anyone thinks it's tinpot, I personally couldn't care less.

****ing hell, this thread is sad - 'Oooooh what if the bigger boys in the Premier League don't think we're cool? What if Man City come to town and then say nasty things about us after the game?' - it's schoolyard bullshit. ****ing 'tinpot' - one of the most overused, shit phrases in football.

Grow the **** up lads - people pay their money, they can do what they like if they're enjoying it. If it's too 'tinpot' or 'cringe' for you lot, then unlucky.

Do we do anything original at this club?

You're right of course. Can we please stop winning every week, makes us look like Man Utd - obviously not from this season though.

Take away the drum, and the poznan - what do we actually sing? When Jobber wasn't there against Charlton is was like a ****ing morgue. At least it gives us something, at least it creates some sort of noise and shows a bit of "togetherness".

Posted

Personally I would never do it because I don't believe in paying for a ticket then turning round when a goal is scored. Why would you not want to see our team celebrating the goal? I agree that it can look good but I wouldn't miss it if we didn't bother.

If we have a tough season next year we might not get the chance to do it anyway!

We love you is sung by a lot of Prem clubs anyway, Norwich seem to do it a lot, could be from us in the cup.

Poznan, I don't care as the Kop don't do it anyway, well not the middle of SK2.

Ive got some mates( I'm not telling lies ya know) that support prem teams and lower div teams and they all say I love that thing when the keeper takes a kick and how long you aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh for at Leicester,it's quality.Just thoughts of other fans.

The 'We Love You' chant is a Palace chant. And they do it so fantastically well it makes us look like really poor versions of Palace fans. That for me is reason enough to stop doing it!

Exactly the same here.

I love this and always thought it was a Leicester thing. But I was sitting at the Chelsea v Leicester FA Cup game (the one where Marshall scored that blinder) with a Chelsea season ticket holder and after I asked him isn't it great when we do that, he just turned to me and said, 'Aw, do you think they only do that in Leicester? Loads of teams do that here!'. Is he right?!

Can we not just sit quietly and watch the game of football, all this racket for no real reason. For once I would like to eat my prawn sandwich and drink my pimms in peace

I dislike it, it's a bit retarded, it's a bit embarrassing, it looks a bit half arsed when only a quarter of the ground do it. Outside of L it mostly attracts ten year olds.

All of that said, we've been doing it so long that it's frankly more "our thing" than Man City's given they've mostly quit it.

Stopping now and stopping because of what people would think of us is more small fry than doing it. Have a bit of self respect, stop taking what you look like at the football seriously and just enjoy life.

Posted

The main reason the Poznan is an embarrassment to our club is that only a small group at the top of L block actually do it.... Looks pathetic IMO... Fun to do but embarrassing to watch from afar unless bigger numbers join in.. It just shows more clearly how bad our fans can be with regard to atmosphere.... It's too cheesy for me.

Need something unique that we can call our own and proudly do together. What though?

Edit: watched the extended highlights on the fl show and is cringed when I saw about 8-10 rows do it and the rest were starting to sit down
