kingfox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 To be honest, we need to take a leaf out of Hull's book, they aren't doing too bad so far this season. They brought in Davies in defence, a decent defender with experience of playing in the Prem. Then they brought in Huddlestone & Livermore, two decent midfielders with Premier League experience, then got in Sagbo, but as they weren't scoring much, they decided to sign Jelavic & Long in the Winter Window, both of which have experience in the Prem, and know where the net is. Both Palace & Cardiff went down the wrong route, Palace buying about 15 players, some of which are a shower of shit, while with Cardiff, Cornelius has been a massive flop, Caulker was their best signing, Medel good signing as well, but they didn't really buy any Premier League experienced players. While Solskjaer has brought in a bunch of Norwegians & Kenwyne Jones who has a decent game about every 1 in 10. If Hull are to stay up, it will be down to Bruce and those experienced signings he made, if Palace & Cardiff go down it will be down to their poor signings. Do what Hull are doing, and in my opinion we would stay up.
conLAD logan Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Was stooping around the internet looking at the top scorers in different leagues and their records for the club as a whole; soriano and alan have a phenomenal goal scoring record for salzburg and surely wouldn't be too expensive. and this is a team that just thumped ajax 6-1 on aggregate before anyone questions their quality.
Agent Fox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Steven Fletcher from Sunderland perhaps, or Michu? And I get slated?
Kitchandro Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Wood has the talent to play in the Premier League. He needs to keep fit and get his head down though. I hope we keep him and he comes into his own. We definitely need to sign at least one striker though.
dmayne7 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 He would cost an arm and a leg, and I doubt Anderlecht would want him to leave permanently just yet. But I could see a loan move, would benefit him. Exactly. It would benefit him but not Anderlecht. We'd still have to pay a sizeable loan fee and we may as well sign him permanently because if he has a good season in the top flight, he'll be worth loads. That goes for any young player really.
Brooksy Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Will be interesting to see if there was any truth in that Filip Djordjevic rumour when we go up.
Master Fox Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I can't think of a single player in the championship from another club who would improve our team for the premier league. We need experience and quality at a higher level if we 're to compete and stay up. I trust Nige and Walsh already have players targeted. We'll be fine. There's not much point on speculating on our future transfers because most of the players we 'll sign you'd probably never heard or thought of.
billyn88 Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Vardy - He's more than earned his chance, he's proved me (and many others) incredibly wrong once, he can do it again. And it may take 2 more seasons, we'll all need to learn from before and have some patience. Nugent - Invaluable experience and we need confidence in the squad for when things get tough, which they will Waghorn - Bye bye. Can't fault his effort but sadly he's offered precious little since a permanent move. Wood - Keep him. He has a lot to offer when played correctly and when he's on his game, people do forget how young he is as well. Seems to have the right attitude while he's out of the side. GTF - His vision and skill is his main asset, I'm not convinced it'll be enough to bamboozle Premier League defences. Out. Kev - I have a feeling this will be taken out of the club's hands and he'll move into coaching or go on to another Champ club. The net result is we'll need to recruit at least one more striker. Someone like McCormack would fit the bill I think.
lcfcsnow Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 Nugent deserves a go at the Prem, he will want 3 years too but I can't see him getting it, 2 at most for me. Nugent is critical to this formation, he links the midfield and the attack. I'd have thought with funds made available next season we would be able to sign a player specialised in linking the midfield and attack, rather than a converted striker who needs at least 10 chances to score. We absolutely need an alternative to Nugent, and not necessarily a striker, an attacking midfielder can play there like Lallana does for Southampton. Vardy deserves a chance but I'd definitely consider another pacey striker for competition as Wood and Nugent are nowhere near good enough for a main striker role in the top division.
Socks Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 i will say 1 striker, 2 midfielders, 2 defenders get rid of wood, wahgorn think vardy, nuge, schlupp, drinky, james, de laet, moore, mahrez, knocky, morgan, kasper are all good enough for prem so maybe another ST, LB or CB and CM and maybe LM and well have a good prem side capable of staying up
LAprice_ Posted 18 March 2014 Posted 18 March 2014 I just want to reiterate everything that's been said about Aleksandar Mitrović. According to Wiki, 13 goals in 23 games for Anderlecht. 6ft 2", 19 years old. Definitely worth a look! Apparently, he's even played in goal! Haha
foxfanazer Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 Bring Drogba back to the prem for a season I would literally jizz. Probably my favourite premier league player of all time
Dickov22 Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 Can't understand people saying we should get rid of Wood. I think he's looked really good every time he's come on this season. He's just unfortunate in that he's behind two massively in form strikers and an in form team. Still really young, too
Buzzell Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 Keep: Nugent Vardy Wood Schlupp Get rid: GTF Futacs Waghorn We will definitely need to bring in another striker. Offer KP a coaching role at the club.
dannythefox Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if Pearson went for Austin or Rhoads young and hungry! Also think we need someone who currently plays in the prem not a clue who he would go for

A very good post, completely agree, with Phillips likely to retire, GTF and Hammond not really up to prem football IMO, we need defo need experienced Prem players. IMO we need a CB, CM and two strikers initially. Perhaps one prem exp striker and one from elsewhere, and send Wood on loan. Maybe go for players from a relegated team, who are to good to go down.
XLM Posted 19 March 2014 Posted 19 March 2014 I'd want a more proven premier league striker as opposed to someone like McCormack, who hasn't. Of the 3 promoted clubs last year Hull were the only ones to do this, and it hasn't done them wrong this season.

We absolutely need an alternative to Nugent, and not necessarily a striker, an attacking midfielder can play there like Lallana does for Southampton. Don't disagree at all. Could imagine Knockaert moving into that role to be fair, but yes, I'd probably advocate picking up an out and out goalscorer and some kind of support striker.

We need a class goal scorer. someone who can put away a higher percentage of those we get. Defense also needs bolstering.
cityfanlee23 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Our alliance will be stronger too. We havent got a bloody alliance
cityfanlee23 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I know what you mean though, Think we will have some sort of "Alliance" in the next few years, Atm we could take a load of leicester fans to australia to watch heskey and have an "alliance"
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Darren Bent? Would rather have Nugent start every game next season than him. Exactly, I don't want journeymen footballers like Bent, and don't believe it's the route Pearson will take. I don't understand why some fans are so against Nugent, I would like him still to be at the club next season, he may be down the pecking order but he deserves his chance in the Prem.
MC Prussian Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 With the previous track record, one could assume LCFC will be delving deeper into the French market.
