lgfualol Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Played in the prem, pretty decent. I'd probably take him as long as his wages aren't a lot. We need a new LB.
mozartfox Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Caption ideas please, given Leo has (apparently) very limited English? What a great picture though!!
CosbehFox Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Tbh we would be way behind other clubs for his signature. He was Sunderland's player of the season when they had him. And he will be on far more than our wage ceiling....
kingfox Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Raj the newsagent, offers better rumours than this bollocks.
deepbluedevil Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 Would take him in an instant but he will go to someone higher up the food chain if he leaves spurs.
jayfox26 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 He clearly is better than Jeff and I've said all summer we should bring in a new left back and loan jeff to a championship club. Jeff has the potential to be a quality left back but anyone who thinks he's gonna make a straight step up to being a prem left back after not even a full season in the championship is very naive. I could be wrong and im sure Nige knows best, but for me, jeff needs to learn more and playing another full season in the championship!
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 I like the fact you said anyone who thinks he can make the step up is very naive and then followed it with I could be wrong. Just amused me.

Just amused me. well I could be wrong. Its all about opinions and mine is that he's not done enough to suggest he is good enough for the prem right now. I think he will be in the future but I reckon he will benefit from another year in the championship. Nige will know best though, he sees him in training every day.
DanTheFox07 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 why are we not throwing this money at a new LB....? Bizarre!
VLC86 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 why are we not throwing this money at a new LB....? Bizarre! I would suggest not every transfer we negotiate is common knowledge therefore how do you know we aren't?
DanTheFox07 Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 I would suggest not every transfer we negotiate is common knowledge therefore how do you know we aren't Feel free to fill me in on what you know about us going for a left back.....
Pookie Posted 23 July 2014 Posted 23 July 2014 why are we not throwing this money at a new LB....? Bizarre! Probably because we offered our No 1 LB with over 250 Premier League matches under his belt a 1 year contract extension last season & our No 2 LB a 3 year new contract this season. That gives me the impression that we may not be looking to strengthen in this area. If we was to strengthen at LB I would us rather do it through the loan system from one of the big clubs, than throw money on a permanent signing.

Yeah I understand that, but that is what worries me, Konchesky struggled at times against championship opposition! liverpool got rid of him all the time ago for a reason you know and that was a long time ago now, coupled with the fact his positioning sense is shocking. I hope Pearson is looking, because he is a weak link in our defence, we could have looked at cresswell before he joined west ham with the money we have bid for deeney it's and not like we are weak upfront.

We won 21 of the 31 games Konchesky started last season. I agree out of our defence, LB is our weakest position, but I also think there are plenty of clubs in the same boat as the pool of players to choose from isn't that big Yes we could have looked at somebody like Cresswell, but he is gone to another club! Suggest players that are available in this position who we should sign, and could be interested in coming to Leicester over other PL Clubs?

That's a good stat but as it happens it's nothing to shout about. We won 31 of our 46 games last season so our win rate with Konchesky in the team was almost identical as our win rate without him in the team. Damn we were good!
roblcfc84 Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 A new LB is essential. JS is a great young player but seriously if fans believe he can play a full season in the PL as first choice they need a reality check. The PL will be a massive step up and whilst his pace in the championship got him out of trouble more often than not, in the PL he will come up against a different standard. We must remember he has only played at LB as a recent thing. Anyone who has played/coached football will know that changing positions is difficult, especially if you still believe you offer more else where on the pitch. Positionally you never truly adapt and that showed last year for me. JS is much better going forward than defending, by comparison where as RDL is an excellent defender and offers an outlet going forward. I am pretty surprised that fans are turning their nose up at Rose, played very well for Sunderland last year. PL experience, quick, stronger than he looks. Would be a great addition.
tomtom Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I mentioned Danny Rose in the left back thread a few days ago and got shot down for it,... Would love him here, he'd be a great signing
RedSoxUK Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 I have to say this.. I don't think we'll be bringing in a LB unless it's on a loan. Pearson's priority is getting the squad to be a unit, and to stay up - I think a new LB would be very valuable to our cause, but Schlupp has been an excellent understudy to Konchesky, and I fully expect Schlupp to be starting vs Everton. He needs to work on his positioning, and his tackling as a last man sort of thing (Adapting to being a defender I guess.) The LB position is generally weak throughout the Premier League, and is a position that not too many teams can boast about being exceptional in. Pearson will give schlupp the time needed to be a solid defender, and his attacking game can only improve our side on the counter attack // starting and building from the back this season. Konchesky has the experience, but he doesn't have the talent or speed to combat the very fast RW's of the league. Schlupp is fast, he can keep up with wingers, handle the physicality of the game, and have a lustrous youth career as a striker.. If I was Pearson, I would be more worried about CF's penetrating our Center Back's. Morgan has proved to be very slow on the ball, and his lack of composure may be exploited. Matt Upson to me, is a starter week in week out for us, he's pretty quick on the ball and was (along with Ulloa) the standout player in Brighton's season - and he has proven his ability at the prem and international level. DeLaet - Upson - Morgan/Moore/NewbCB? - Schlupp will be our back line come August, and I won't be upset about it. tl;dr = LB isn't that much of a priority, let's give Schlupp a chance - he's no Ryan McGivern.

Schlupp is quicker and much stronger than he looks. His lack of experience has been shot down before both as a LB and as a striker for us. I really think this is something we just have to let happen, if Schlupp does come under threat and is targeted as a weak link, then Konchesky can offer some stability.

RedSoxUK Posted 24 July 2014 Posted 24 July 2014 Konchesky can offer stability :^) I don't think he'll get much game time at all this year.
