Ultimately we’ve got to get back to how we’ve been throughout the vast majority of the season. “We’re a very honest side who work exceptionally hard and we have very talented individuals. Tonight it’s not happened for us and we were severely punished." I'm hoping tonight was a one-off and a rocket in the dressing room tonight will snap a few of them back into shape.

Reading between the lines, the players were p*ssed and that isn't going to happen again
Tuna Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 If it does happen again, I expect Pearson to make the 'wholesale changes' he promised not to make in the summer. Play like that in the Premier League, and we'll be down by Christmas.

I think that's fair comment
red5 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 The manager picks the team and tactics, Pearson got it wrong.

Play like that in the Premier League, and we'll be down by Christmas. Correct. But we won't so don't worry. The manager picks the team and tactics, Pearson got it wrong. Pearson could have picked any combination and we wouldn't have been focussed.
Monsell1976 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Im actually defending Pearson here, he sent 11 players out there who he trusted to put in a performance, and he believed had the will and ability to get a result, but they let him and us down badly. The players brought in have waited for their chance and didn't take it, don't think Nigel will make the same mistake next time out. Nice to see a very honest, balanced interview after the game from him.
Socks Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Back to the normal team please for Reading Who by the way were gash against bournemouth
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 We lost 4-1, we playered poor and this has cost us our unbeaten run and could cost us the title. I for one am not happy and the fat lady can shut the **** up
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Chill.. For the third time... it was a reality check. Brighton are an inconsistent side (see Pre match thread) who can beat anyone on their day..they can just as easily be dog awful. We will win the league.
Socks Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I just worked it out, its getting easier now ;-), win 2 of our last 5 games and we will be champs

silebyboy Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I just worked it out, its getting easier now ;-), win 2 of our last 5 games and we will be champs That would give us 95 points. Burnley can still amass 98 points.
Socks Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I think theyll drop 4 points of of 15 We may even get more
Happy Fox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I think theyll drop 4 points of of 15 We may even get more They have Ings back which is a huge boost to them, will make us work very hard for the title now it isn't a given till its secured, that is why it is imperative the players wake up now which I am sure they will have after NP's post match comments!
Dickov22 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The players let Pearson down last night. Only mistake I think he made was starting Phillips who I think has completely had it as a footballer. Unfair on Wood and GTF who have hardly had any game time this season either. I'd even rather see one of the young lads such as Hopper or Blyth given a go than Phillips. Rest of the lads let him down. I'd probably let Nugent off who's played almost every game and looked exhausted.

fuchsntf Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 The manager picks the team and tactics, Pearson got it wrong. Are you forgetting the games he got it right, or just up for making a throw away statement.

I for one am not happy and the fat lady can shut the **** up The fat lady couldnt take her position last night she had a seagull in the throat, who dived in after the frog............ , they had to use the stand in.
Corky Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 He sounded angry on the radio and I'm sure he'll be working the players hard in training after the next few days. I can forgive a bad performance towards the end of a fantastic season but we don't want it to end limply, let's go out with a bang.
lee7 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Like a previous poster has pretty much said, the players were still hanging from Saturdays celebrations and got punished badly for it! Brighton are a good team, comfortable with the ball and are capable of keeping hold of possession for long spells. They would've given us a good game even if the players had not celebrated on Saturday! Just a shame that the unbeaten run has ended, burnley have moved 3 points closer and we now go to reading who are a good team at home.
Gubbins Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 'The goals we've conceded were uncharacteristic'???? I would argue that 50% of them were very very characteristic!!! We absolutely have to sort out our defending from set pieces as we seem to concede one nearly every game.
