foxfanazer Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 What was Pearson on about when he said people will probably never have heard of hiss targets?
tomtom Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Ulloa Is it us you're looking for? I can see it in your eyes I can see it in your smile You're all we've ever wanted And our arms are open wide 'cause you know just how to score And you know just what to do And we want to tell you so much we love you!
benpicko Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Whose that man from Argentina ... Messi? I don't think we'll be signing him just yet
lgfualol Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Is it really a good idea to include his name in the chant? Everyone will say it differently
Ric Flair Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Don't cry for me Argentina, the truth is we paid too much for you
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Be interesting to see how many pronunciations of his name we hear. My Argentinian friend said it should be Oo-sho-ah ...... So maybe an "OOOOOOOSHHHH" every time he scores - like the Negredo BEAST shout? I can imagine that "Leo, Leo, Leo etc etc" will be a common one.
lgfualol Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 http://www.northstandchat.com/showthread.php?305143-Ulloa-gone Everyone at Brighton suddenly thinks he was shit apparently The five stages of grief
MikeyT Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 How many pages was the Maynard thread? Are we going to beat it I wonder?
BoyJones Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 I think we should reserve judgment until mid season, if he has scored, say 7 goals by Christmas, on target to get say 15 in the season, then he will be a bargain. If he only has one or two goals by Christmas and playing regularly, he may start looking overpriced, but it will also depend on his overall play / contribution and whether his game is improving. If he does sign, I will be pleased because clearly he is a different type of player from our current strikers and will pose a different threat up front.
Simmo86 Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Glad it is done. Wanted him all summer. As for the fee, pretty much what you have to pay when you're a Premier League side.
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Like most, really, I suspect.. I have little idea whether he is worth this sort of money. I remember thinking he was poor in the play-offs and wondering what people saw in him, but then Brighton per se were poor in those two games. I'm looking forward to seeing him play.

You don't get that many strikers playing for sides in the bottom half who score that many. If he gets 10 I'll be more than happy.
teblin Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 £7 million i a lot of cash. But if he gets 10 goals and keeps us in the league it will be well worth it. It is likely a deal worth up to £7.5 million, so with add ons depending on how well he does.
Guest Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 How many pages was the Maynard thread? Are we going to beat it I wonder? that was about 300 pages, it'll never be beaten!

He was very isolated in those games, if we have Vardy or Nugent buzzing around him we'll see the benefit.
MikeyT Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 that was about 300 pages, it'll never be beaten! Christ, I didn't realise it had got to that many pages.
Jimothy Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Well Pearson has gone all out for this transfer, so I'll trust his judgement. I've not watched Ulloa intently since he came to Brighton, but from what I have seen there's nothing to suggest he's worth more than a few million, nowhere near £7.5m. Hopefully this is shows an intention to spend a little now though, I'm not saying go crazy, but we need a bit more depth in the squad, especially centre mid and right back. Really don't like the thought of Hammond being anywhere near a premier league squad.
Simmo86 Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Still trying to find out what Dean Hammond did wrong last season....
Jimothy Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Still trying to find out what Dean Hammond did wrong last season.... Nothing, I just don't think he's the quality needed for the Premier League. Same can be said for GTF.
Callabinho Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Ulloa is a natural goal scorer, if my mind serves me right, last season Brighton created the least amount of opportunities on goal out of the teams in the top 10, which makes his goal tally since he arrived impressive.

Really don't like the thought of Hammond being anywhere near a premier league squad. Don't understand the Hammond hate. Just because he is not as 'all action' as our 2 starting CM's doesn't take away his contribution. Playing in a 3 man midfield I can see him being effective next season in that holding role allowing DD and James to play a bit more expansively.
Robin JD Popley Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Of all of his goals last season, the ones that stand out to me are the ones he scored against us at home and the one he scored against Hull. Each goal was slightly different but the one against Hull, in particular, shows he has that clinical eye for goal and could score against a Premiership defence. Ok, we all know Hull aren't in the same category as say a Chelsea, but with his additional height and Jamie's extra pace, plus Nuge or Riyad's abilities and I think we will have quite a formidable strike force.
JackMaestro08 Posted 18 July 2014 Posted 18 July 2014 Brighton fan here, ive come to give you the 'lowdown' on your record new signing- giving you the pros and cons and what my valuation is. Ulloa signed for us in January 2012 for £2million from Almeria (spanish 2nd div), alot of money for someone no one had heard of or could even pronounce his name! ( OO-SHOA-A ) - (with the 'SH' sounding like the 'zh' in 'zherkov'). He became an instant fan favourite scoring a brilliant diving header against arsenal. He then became a fan favourite, banging a few goals before the end of the season. During last season, he hit 14 championship goals and was suspended for 4, whilst being injured for 2 months so its about 14 in 30 games. Not too shabby. Pros- Best header of the ball ive ever seen. Can get ridiculous power even if theres no pace on the cross. Great accuracy too even with his height. Knows where the goal is. 9 times out of 10, he will hit the ball well and at least test the keeper or get the shot around the target. Passionate. Although players do sometimes look down, the emotion he showed scoring that last minute goal vs forest las tseason was immense. Shows he has good team spirit- generally has a smile on his face. Pace- despite his appearance, he can outrun alot of defenders whenm he wants to, mainly shrugging them off the ball if theyre in a 1v1 battle. Pretty good Pros, right? Now, here are the points most people miss... Cons- Lazy. His movement 90% of the time is attrotious. He is awful at getting back from offside positions. You WILL notice this. Its like he needs to be motivated from an opponents player to annoy him before he'll properly chase down the ball. First touch. Dont even get me started. Again, 9 times out of 10, he loses the ball with his first touch. Its like his foot is a spring at times. Occasionally holds the ball up well, good chest control, bad feet touch. Strength. Another one you may think is bizarre. Fact is, he looks really strong and powerful, but ends up on the floor most times- even from players such as Sam Byram. Well I hope this gives you a little insight into your record signing. We will miss him here, but I cant help thinking that we need someone who moves more with our passing style of play. Someone with a bit more pace to play balls in behind to. Who knows, maybe he will kick himself up the arse and sort out his laziness and first touch. If he does taht, youve got a hell of a player. Id say with jus tthe pros hes worth about £7million, but the cons, realistically, take my valuation to about £5.5million. Thanks for the memories Ulloa, and best of luck to him and you guys in the prem.
